Sounds interesting.

Though, no matter how many times I tried, I was not able to open the website as such.
Can you please record a video make on how to do this step by step? I think there are many who are not able to follow the steps you wrote there.

Though, it reminds me of DADI, which was like a decentralized fog computing based mineable web hosting network, which with small changes in the blockchain (if the company follows the course) can be introduced.

Re: HOW TO protect yourself from DNS hijacking?

I have been compiling a guide (for everyone and my team) on how to protect yourself from online scammers here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3415026.msg35714276#msg35714276

And I am yet to find an definitive answer to how to protect yourself from DNS Hijacking.

From my understanding, this type of hijack can happen either on your own machine (simple, if your machine is compromised), or from the website level (more sophisticated attack).

Any ideas / tools / methods you use to detect / prevent such attacks?

I have already read your tagged post on this forum before and I agree with you pertaining the Trojans that attacked one's pc, infiltrate and hacked important datas stored in the PC. There was a very famous trojan mining software that enters your computer and mines cryptocurrency without you knowing, aside from that they are accessing your important information on your pc. The best way to protect yourself from that Trojan is to install Bit Defender on your computer. It is effective against Trojan.

Yep, keeping your machine clean with some common sense (like anti viruses and malware protection softwares) keeps this at bay. That sorts it out for first way of DNS hijacking. I am more interested in second way of hijacking, where the DNS servers, somewhere in the world go rogue and start routing to malicious websites.

What about Binance to accept and convert your crypto donations to BTC and then you trade that over in LocalBitcoin.com? I know this is a 2 step process, and idea would be to convert in one step process... but would work until you find an another solution.

Re: [idea] Selling bitcoin cards locally
by

Amazing idea.

Maybe there can be just a Smart Contract that yields out crypto currency only when 2 keys match. 1 of them can be scratch code from the card, and one seller ID. The 2 keys basically unlock the wallet of the seller, where crypto associated to the seller is quarantined (the total amount of money he bought in total from the exchange, that is) and he can send any amount to the buyer he wishes (as per the current exchange rate or even giving up his own commission shall he wish).

So, even if the cards are stolen, they have no value till seller code is applied to unlock the wallet (working as a 2FA in this case). And seller sells his own inventory from the exchange and nothing else.... so they would be careful in transactions and cant touch the exchange money.

I can help you setup this smart contract.

So, just to correct your facts:

Bill Gates commented that during an AMA session on REDDIT, which you can find here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/80ow6w/im_bill_gates_cochair_of_the_bill_melinda_gates/dux2mp7/

Now, Bill Gates is a FAN of crypto currencies (particularly Bitcoin), which you can find here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6KRp91YAw8 where he clearly comments that it is better than currency cause it is showing us how cheap it can be to move money from place to place, and that is exactly what non profit is trying to do.

Gates is not against Bitcoin, but only discusses that how the coin is being used for illegal activities at times due to the anonymity built into the protocol, which would worry anyone, in my opinion.

the owner of this ETH address is a thief:
https://etherscan.io/address/0x1ae4df1b75513179f383bc9845450fd76fcf640f

A feature to develop: be able to block any transaction to a particular address.

Nothing will happen by blocking transactions to a particular address. The scammer will just make a new one in a jiffy.

BTW, I have been compiling a guide that would help fight scam in this industry, which you may like to checkout here:

Re: Which Ad network do you use to monetize your website(s)?
by
redpillorblue
on 28/04/2018, 13:34:23 UTC
Adsense is the most lame way to moneytize any website, unless your website is too big and moneytization via other means will mean alot of efforts. I have consulted some of the largest enterprises in Moneytization strategies back when Adsense used to be lucrative... but now Google may ban you anytime with / without a reason.

I think the best way to moneytize is the modes that you control. Peer to Peer ads contracts (CPM) or Affiliate promotions are I guess the way to go. Paid content services (say, paid reviews) is also one way to go.

You can concentrate on Affiliate ads along with blend of Adsense, while trying to phase out Adsense gradually as you gain momentum and approach the advertisers on blogs you look up to directly, offering them a deal on your website.
`

I have really no idea.
Can you assist guide me on this please? We would love to get your help.
I know how Google can ban you for no reason, so I think its better from the biginning to not use this network at all.

Sure. Send me a PM. Will be happy to help

Re: I'm Setting Up A Website
by

on 28/04/2018, 10:05:52 UTC
Hello guys, I've been writing articles on cryptocurrencies for websites. Now I'm thinking of setting up a website and work on building it. What suggestions do you have on the best content to add. Also what monetization ideas will you suggest?
Basically, you will be setting up your own blog for which the main content will be your articles ? Good start.
You can get the website set-up and running within a few minutes if you follow blog tutorials on wordpress, that if should you choose to use that platform. The best content to add will be the content you come up with ? It's very hard to just give you suggestions based on the skills that you offered.
The first and the foremost monitization technique you will be using is adds.Adsense and that sort of stuff.Start reading things here : blackhatworld.com

Thanks for the suggestion. Will AdSense work on a crypto site when the Google ban becomes effective?

Adsense is the most lame way to moneytize your content. Google may ban your account for any reason (or without) anytime. I am sure you will have alot many lucrative ways to moneytize your content. Try moneytizing via bounties, referral marketing, affiliate marketing or paid reviews media.

Re: If United states legalize Bitcoin?
by
redpillorblue
on 28/04/2018, 09:42:44 UTC
Even if US legalizes it (it has not made it illegal either), India would be the last country to legalize such a thing, unless it realizes the huge potential to attract trade and investments via ICO route or getting global startups scene to invest into India. In my opinion, India looks at other countries as guinea pigs, where policies are put to test, and observes the flaws and them improvises upon them before introducing it to its own structure.

China has an entirely different agenda and 'why' (of world domination) and would repel bitcoins till it aligns with its own agendas.

None of these countries follow US or any other countries for monetary policies blindly, but definitely are influenced to some extend.

Re: HOW TO STOP HACKERS TO HACK YOUR CRYPTO WALLET

HOW TO STOP HACKERS TO HACK YOUR CRYPTO WALLET
Protect yourself from cyber criminals

Good day to all of you guys I am EdsnowAngel a programmer and a bit security tester in different platforms. Now I heard to my friends a lot of concerns saying "please help me my bitcoin wallet was hacked!!"
Ok ok first thing first when your bitcoin wallet gets compromised then your funds was send in different wallet then it is irreversible meaning no return of funds!! so I wanna tell everyone how to protect your bitcoin wallet from such kind of situation.

1st: Protect your GMAIL or EMAIL ACCOUNT

We all know we use GMAIL as our email provider for such accounts like blockchain then we can recover and approve login with email in some wallets, now when your email account was targeted and get compromised then say goodbye to your bitcoin. To secure your bitcoin wallet(ex: blockchain or other) go to your google account settings. and then turn on the 2FA(2nd factor authentication) here is the guide on how to do it: STEP BY STEP GUIDE

2nd: Use your own DEVICE or COMPUTER/PHONE

It's a very bad idea to use someones device(ex:from friend) to make a transaction in your bitcoin wallet why? because first you don't know what is the capability of that person regarding that matters and you don't know if that phone has a lot of malwares and spywares. So we cannot say that you are safe using someones device to make transactions.

3rd: Always backup you PK's or PRIVATE KEYS

This is the most important thing to remember for everyone using your ETH or BTC wallet without backing up your Private keys then you can't recover you wallet in case you forgot your wallet.PK's are very important but there are thing you should do first. Make sure you store your PK backup somewhere that you only know and not from your computer because there are some spyware that might inside of your computer that can steal that file so make sure you back it up print in a paper and hide it to the place where you only know.

4th: Don't open links from malicious emails

This method was called email phishing where an attacker will send the same email in thousands of random users once the victim will click the link in that email then his or her device was compromised to avoid this please do not click the links included in the email immediately please always have time to check who is the sender of that email and if that email is came from the site where it supposed to came from.

5th: Do not trust PUBLIC WIFI

It's quite good to have access with free wifi's but have you think this: IS THIS A SAFE NETWORK? without you knowing maybe some of the people connected to that same network may have idea and skill on how to sniff passwords and credentials this method was so called DNS SPOOFING or SNIFFING if you want to use public wifi then use it not just with your bitcoin transactions.

6th: Do not login on Suspicious links

This method is called PHISHING where an attacker  will send you a link to login with your bitcoin wallet luring you with the legitimate site example is:
the real site is: https://www.blockchain.info/
the fake site is: http://www.blockchain.ga/

then once you login to the fake site then the hacker or attacker will have now your credentials. Please always check for the green lock on the url bar and the word HTTPS in the link.

so this are some of the way to stop hackers to hack your bitcoin or crypto wallet. If you have other information then you can comment it down and lets help others.

I did a similar post here:

Many points are common and some are unique

If you are not that much of a techie, go for Shopify

If you know how to tinker around or can spend some money (less than $200), then go for Wordpress based structure (invest in DIVI plugin, as it will make your life easier).

If you are looking for a Website builder, ensure they can support tracking scripts like Google Analytics and Hotjar (basically injecting Javascript codes)

Maybe you should be reading about BLOCKCHAIN, rather than BITCOIN.

Bitcoin is a product of Blockchain technology and this parent technology has alot more to offer than being just a crypto currency

That is so easy to answer. Being knowledgeable will be the main factor to avoid those scammer. Scammers tend to victimize all ignorance when it comes to this field.

That is kindof a solution to every problem on earth. Would appreciate any practical tips you have gathered while being in this industry.

Re: Bubbles a good thing?
by
redpillorblue
on 27/04/2018, 13:04:32 UTC
So we hear bitcoin is a bubble over and over. I was reading a book regarding bubbles and his take on them were fascinating. His argument was that the biggest leaps in innovation come through the speculation, exuberance and floods of money that bubbles produce.

Once popped we are left with cheap infrastructure that can be snapped at a huge discount with companies with the same goal. Because the costs are so much cheaper it makes it was easier to operate long term.

We are also left with what he calls infrastructure of the mind. With all the hype and competition we see during bubbles the levels of marketing and advertising we see leave an imprint in the average consumers mind and this mental infrastructure doesn't disappear when the bubble bursts and once the pieces are picked up this is when you see the true valuable businesses appear out of the ashes!

Does this argument have any value in your opinion?

Care to share the name of the book? Sounds interesting and thought provoking.
