Ethereum 2.0
by
ricardobayes
on 02/11/2018, 13:12:48 UTC
Two days ago Vitalik Buterin announced that Ethereum 2.0 is "Really Not So Far Away".
The major change will be the transfer to proof of stake concensus algorithm (aka Project Casper). For those who don't know, proof of stake is ownership-based and will not require "mining" as we know it.

What are your thought about this?

Re: What new feature could potentially make bitcoin more valuable?
by
ricardobayes
on 01/09/2018, 18:27:41 UTC
I know that it's kinda 'big' question but it will be great to see what the community think about that.

what do you think can cause the price to go up?

Even though bitcoin is very well equipped, I think about one feature that will make bitcoin more valuable and more useful, and that is the "smart contract" feature similar to ETH. Today ETH is used widely just because of this feature. A lot of start up companies use ETH to make their own tokens based on that smart contract algorithm which makes ETH is one of the most used and appreciated cryptos of all time, second to bitcoin.

I think, if smart contract can be made available for bitcoin, it will not only increase the utility of bitcoin, but at the same time, make it more useful for the companies around the world who wants to make their own crypto footprint. More utility means more demand and for the same reason, the price can take few more steps towards moon. Just my 2 satoshis!

Couldn't agree more! Otherwise btc will be pretty much useless. There are no use cases for bitcoin at the moment.

Re: Crypto Market all RED today. I am so scared

ETF approval doesn't mean anything long-term. Cryptocurrencies will stop to be a speculative asset in a couple of years.
Think of 3D printing or VR. Everybody thought they are going to change the world. They did not. Neither will crypto. It will find its single use case and help people's lives in that domain.

I would bet it's some kind of traceability utilized in supply chains and proof of ownership of virtual/physical goods. Or it might be something else. But definitely not as a financial asset that is replacing fiat. That is an utopia.

Re: BITCOIN = FUTURE
by
ricardobayes

What is the use case of bitcoin?

There aren't any.

I think only contract coins like Ethereum will worth anything in the future, since there are existing use cases for those, like auditable real estate registrars or identification purposes for people.
I certainly don't see "value coins" like bitcoin growing in the future. There is nothing really to believe in them. The price is too volatile for them to become a gold-like long term investing asset.
In 10 years probably bitcoin will phase out. There are virtually no use cases for bitcoin for an ordinary person. It cannot be used for day-to-day transactions nor as a long-term investment.

One of my good friends is invested in this crap. He was mesmerised by the suits and the mlm bullshit. He wants to put more money in.

Can someone analyze their code:
https://github.com/techsolutions-ltd/dascoin-blockchain

and/or their blockchain explorer:
https://dascoinexplorer.com/

To help me convince my friend this is not the ideal investment?

Re: Metric for mining effectiveness
by

As usually mining process including the cryptocurrencies are effective system.the digital wallet share to mining market profit. The metric can be easily extended to other features of a gene such as mining sites and protein products interactions of the gene product, special features of the information on structure, promoter characteristics, etc.The metric mining can also be used in other domains that use two different parametric spaces one for clustering and the other one for measuring the effectiveness Directed data mining involves searching through historicalrecords to find patterns that explain a particular outcome and includes the tasks of classification estimation, prediction and profiling.

Did I read it correctly? geezed, seems like a Bot with auto reply to me, targeting only on subjects but not the actual concern by the OP Cheesy

@OP

Aside from online calculators that were previously suggested, there are a lot of threads here pertaining on specific cards. these are actual encounters by the members that you could rely on.

Yeah, I read it twice too Cheesy I wasn't sure if it's me not comprehending stuff before having coffee, or a bot.

Anyway, my original question was related to how to differentiate between two or more rigs.

Let's say rig A is 300 Mh/s at 1350 W with a price of 4000$, and
rig B is 167 Mh/s at 720 W at a cost of 1600$.
Which one to get?

What I came up with is dividing hash rate with wattage that yields a sort of mining efficiency ratio.
And then divide that ratio with the cost of the rig.

Hope this helps anybody to select between rigs.

Metric for mining effectiveness
by
ricardobayes

Hi,
I am wondering if there is a metric, or formula that can be used to determine a given mining equipment's effectiveness. This would be an indicator to buy the equipment at that price, or not.

A simple metric would take into account:
  • $ price of equipment,
  • power usage in Watts,
  • hash rate

A more advanced one would also use:
algorithm difficulty increases historically and expected,
mined coin price,
etc...

by

Now my question is: should I order 2/3 more GTX 1070Ti or one  Dragonmint X1?  I know a lot of people HATES the ASICs but I would love some honest opinions.

Some people go for 7:3 GPU:ASIC ratio in their portfolio.
Definitely don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

I don’t get why 10 months of roi is considered bad. No other investment yields this much at the moment. A $5000 rig produces as much monthly profit as letting a condo in my city.
So yeah, sure it’s bad...

Re: Ripple Surges to Become The Second Most Valued Cryptocurrency
by
ricardobayes
on 30/12/2017, 18:06:25 UTC
You are right about bitcoin issues.
Bitcoin Cash - BCH solves most problems with BTC. Low transaction fees, and larger block size means better throughput.
Even with Lightning Network, BTC's 1 MB block size is not scaleable for the future.

Yes! And all credit for that goes to bitcoin network. Increasing numbers of unconfirmed transactions coupled with insanely high fees fueled the growth of Ripple in last couple of days. Ripple is technologically much superior than bitcoin and people have started investing in big numbers it seems. If we can't find a solution to the bitcoin network issues, we will be doomed pretty soon. I was a long term investor of bitcoin, but yesterday I invested in Ripple seeing its growth. Recently I came to know that the testing of lightening network was successful on bitcoin network. We need to implement it soon to get back on track.

I just learned about envion from a facebook ad... Honestly, I'm pretty new to cryptocurrencies and will expand my knowledge in this area. Envion seems like a great team with experienced members! Best of luck with your ICO.
