It really only affects users who left with all or part of their hashrate in the last few months. If you weren't paying attention that this was coming and were so inclined to move all or some of your hashrate back before the switch you lost shares, if a block is found in the timeframe that you would have still received a payout Moving forward you can re-evaluate and decide if you want to come back - 3 days and you are fully ramped up. This is beneficial to any small miner who couldn't fathom waiting 60 days or whatever it was for the full 5ND ramp up. It does suck for people who ramped up fully under the steady reminder that you would receive a 5ND rampdown period. Like any service though it's at the discretion of the service provider.
Exactly. 3 day ramp is so much better for everyone all the way around.
Thats interesting! When the luck was low even in the big pools it has been around 70% until around the 20th. Then it has jumped to about 130% and thats when you hit a block here! Like the luck is same for all!
In theory the luck should be the same for all over time. The difference comes down to % of the total reward shared - fees. One thing I have noticed if I'm not wrong is that we are on the cusp of becoming a pool that doesn't expect a block every retarget period. I think right now we expect 1 every ~16 days. Given we have some transient hashrate we seem to swing above and below that right now, hopefully we can attract some more permanent hash.
So, I have been mining on Kano with a T9+ and learning this 5Nd thing for a month now and was not even close to getting to the 10.5TH ramp up; I went ahead and "helped it" with a 2nd T9+ and a Bitfily B1+ (Total of 34TH), now my Shift Graph shows roughly the same as the single miner.
Does this mean at next payout I can expect the "full" share of the single 10.5TH miner? Is this way of ramping up quickly ok?
This way of ramping up quickly is ok, but it's still going to take you awhile to get up to that 10.5TH average. But, like you said, you'll be getting there quicker than by just mining with the original 10.5TH machine.
I finally switched back to your pool and figured out I had the wrong wallet address still saved (so first payment going to the great gods of BTC...yeah...). When trying to change the address via phone I inserted my pw wrongly too often. How long do I have to wait until I can login again?
I finally found the correct pw ^^
Thanks again.
if you jump on the discord chat he can give you a hand
KanoPool support goes something like this: If an user loses a password, he/she has to make a new account (with a different login name), the end.
Kano used to respond very quickly on IRC, not sure about this newfangled Discord thing...
If the pool hash rate is the same, the changes take the same time.
However, time doesn't factor in to the amount of your rewards. Pool luck is all that determines that, though we are getting quite small now, where large positive diff changes will also affect that. Fortunately, there's been no large positive diff changes for a while.
no but time factors into our average which does affect our rewards, right? I lost half a TH on my average within 5 hours - after being back online for 14.5 hours, my average is still not where it was before the 5 hours of outage.
I think the pool hash rate was in the 40 PH during the time I was offline vs the 28-32 PH range it has been since I came back online.
could that be why I am ramping up slower?
and can we please find a block soon? lol over 20 days now I want to buy new equipment lol
Yes, the lower hash rate for the pool = longer re-ramp back up time.
Pool size could be measured as a percentage of the network maybe, anyway this is sort of how I see it.
Super Pools are over 5EH in size > 10% of the network each Large pools are over 1EH in size > 2.5% of the network each Medium pools are over 100PH in size > 0.25% of the network each Small pools are over 20PH in size < 0.1% Tiny pools are over 1PH in size < negligible
None of this is an exact science, but I would think this pool would be more comfortable at or above the 250-300PH mark
