It’s ALWAYS a good time to accept Bitcoin. Historically it’s appreciated a lot. Enough to make it worth your while.

I wish I got in on unisocks when they were $200. But at that time it was hard to see the use case tbh

Spikes in Street Level Crypto Use
by
rmilly
on 24/09/2019, 23:35:25 UTC
The article cites that a surge in low-level use cases: prostitution, drug sales, child pornography trades have all surged which was the inspiration for CipherTrace's Scout app. Apparently the app will flag bad addresses and ignore everyday users allowing users to know whether their token has a criminal past.

what are your thoughts on a mobile app that does this? Necessary?

Companies Competing to Create Crypto's FATF Solution
by
rmilly
on 23/09/2019, 19:28:41 UTC
The Financial Action Task Force recently recommended a set of compliance guidelines for crypto exchanges. One in particular looked at the 'travel rule' requiring exchanges to verify and keep records of users identities when sending between exchanges. This article shares some of the companies dealing with the response to this recommendation.

I found the company CipherTrace's TRISA one of the better solutions because it has no associated costs, looks to obtain as much privacy as possible and will likely define the standard across all exchanges.

Will be interesting to see what the best solution will be regarding compliance and regulations.

Are we 100% certain that Korea has implemented regulations? Would be interested to know which countries (if any) have put crypto regulations into place. I can see Korea or China being one of the first to do so

I've been impressed with the adoption. Honestly there have been more countries and large corporations looking to adopt blockchain than before. The blockchain platform NULS even launched a 10-minute pop up blockchain that allows any developer not just those that are native inblockchain to spin up something

I would rather have a cybersecurity firm like Ciphertrace try to step in and offer something that is working to preserve crypto than the government implementing their own form of regulated tracking.

Pretty impressed with NULS technology and recent announements regarding their upgrade and newly announced staking alternative. This coin has seen some subtle growth for a good reason and will continue to go up in value imo.

Would really like to connect with anyone who has also invested in NULS and hear your thoughts

I think most of the people who are buying on the darkweb are confident knowing that it won't be traced back to them because it's too challenging. I would imagine companies like Ciphertrace would only start to investigate when there are large amounts of money moving.

I would imagine it has to do with large deforestation gone wrong. What we can do is pay attention. This was a wake up call and I think we need to be more conscious of our actions whether that is waste, how we eat and how we generally treat the planet.

Re: 76% of dark market using Bitcoin
by
rmilly
on 27/08/2019, 23:27:17 UTC
Most individuals still prefer using BTC for transactions, either for legitimate or illegitimate purposes because of the relative price security in terms of market cap. Users would not mind using an mixing/anonymization service instead of using  privacy coins.

I read somewhere that companies like Ciphertrace that do blockchain forensics are able to track funds even if after they run through a mixing service. How legitimate do we think these mixers are for btc?
