If it's a standard OpenSSH server, the configuration file is /etc/ssh/sshd_config. Search that file for the variable "PermitRootLogin" under the "Authentication:" section. The allows variables are: yes, no, without-password. Without-password is used when you have a key-based setup involved...which is a good idea for some systems.

On the client box:

ssh-keygen -t rsa
(accept defaults)
sftp/rsync/etc. the file ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub to the server as /root/.ssh/authorized_keys.

On the server box:

Change sshd_config as desired
/etc/init.d/sshd (or equivalent) restart

Then attempt an SSH session from client to server. If the keys are probably in place you will not be prompted for a password.

Re: Block Erupter USB - Overclocking/ hacking ?

On the hacking front - is there a way to get diagnostics or self-check data from the device itself - to see how it "thinks" it's mining? Some basic messaging through the USB to UART port?

Has anyone got this to work with an Asicminer Erupter USB? I have a Netgear WNR3500U flashed with the latest TomatoUSB (http://tomato.groov.pl/) sitting idle and ready to start playing as soon as my Erupters arrive.

Hi all,

Wondering if it still makes sense to pursue an ASIC-based solution given the current market. Looking at the Asicminer USB devices it seems group buys go off at around 1 BTC each, and will generate (at current difficultly) about 2.85 BTC over the course of a year. The calculation seems highly levered to difficulty, though, and if BFL ever ships en masse (and as Avalon and Asicminer devices ship) how badly is it expected to increase?

Currently breakeven is probably around 130 days for a USB Block Eruptor? Could that number be the same (or even higher) about 129 days into the future?
