Re: NEW BAIKAL MINER BK-G28 released.

Hello , the coin gain right now is about 20,95 $ (21 GRS/day) before electricity . Do you think it can stay above 10-15 GRS in a few weeks or this is pretty impossible ?  It should be my first investment and I'm thinking about this one.

Doesn't matter like everyone else is saying. Groestl was around $25/day a few days ago, and now is like $19/day, and by the time everyone gets theirs and plugs them in, down to $2-7, or whatever the average is for the rest.

Good question. I would think I would see their username on this list https://grs.suprnova.cc/index.php?page=statistics&action=pool unless they only mined as anonymous for a short amount of time. The last found block on grs.suprnova.cc was October 2nd, so I would think with that hash rate, they would of found a block already. On the Groestlcoin difficulty chart https://www.coinwarz.com/difficulty-charts/groestlcoin-difficulty-chart you can see some major activity on October 3, the date the YouTube video was posted. They want 0.1 BTC to load the software. Kind of hard to justify that amount of money just to see if it's real. I think it would give me more proof if they showed their mining username on https://grs.suprnova.cc/index.php?page=statistics&action=pool with their hashrate.

... and I checked their BTC address and they have zero transactions, so nobody has paid them their fee.

Baikal X10 two cards working $500
by

I have a Baikal X10 that only two of the three cards work. The third card was damaged due to high humidity. The miner works fine with only two cards. The only caveat is, I can't seem to control the fan speed with the two cards. Maybe the third card was the main controller? I don't know. You can use the Baikal fan at 100%, or I was using a small Walmart fan to control fan speed, in my office. I will send you the whole miner, including the damaged card.

Yeah I have 10 of them. You can try reinstalling the sd card image and if that doesn't work you need to buy a new controller.

I broke down and bought a $10 3-speed fan from Walmart. I unplugged and removed the black fan from the Baikal X10, I put the Walmart fan in front of it.

do it efficient reduce the temperature compare with previously?

No, it doesn't reduce the temperature more efficiently. The miner is at my office, and I need a way to reduce the noise. If I could control the fan speed with the built-in fan, I would keep it, for sure. I am also mining Skein, which uses the least amount of watts, so as to produce the least amount of heat.

you can control the fan speed with this setting at sgminer options: baikal-fan (sgminer options) and 40 (value). theh it will be running at 40%. it is working for me since some months without problems.

That's problem. It's not accepting any values. If there is a way to control the fan speed from the terminal, then I could do that, I just don't know the command. Does anybody know the exact command to type in the terminal?

So are you saying you tried this and it didn't work?

Yes, that's what I'm saying. No value I type in has worked.

PWM / Baikal X10 fan controller
by
rogerthat55
on 16/07/2018, 23:57:04 UTC
Is there any kind of PWM fan controller that I could purchase to manually control the fan speed of a Baikal X10? I would imagine they make something like this for different types of fans/motors. I've looked on eBay, but they are a lot of circuit boards, and I'm not sure what to get. I purchased a Noctua NA-FC1 from Amazon, but the connectors don't match; it's more for computer fans. Thanks.

So, I have two hash boards hooked up. I figured out it doesn't work if you don't have one hash board in the middle. The problem I'm having now is, there is no fan control. Every number I put in the GUI doesn't do anything. I thought I would try and find a manual fan controller, but I've had no luck. Any ideas? I'm thinking the middle hash board that croaked was maybe a special hash board that was able to control the fan?

Thanks for the tip on DeoxIT!

The fan is probably powered by the middle hashboard. Unscrew it, take the hash boards out and reconnect the fan to the first hash board. Leave the middle hash board out if it's had it and that should solve your problem.

Each hash board has it's own white connector, where you can plug in a fan. Visually, all three boards look the same. I have two hash boards installed, one in the middle, with the fan plugged into that one. Everything works fine; I just can't control the fan from the Baikal GUI.

Yes, I got that.

The middle board has power but it can't communicate hence your issue. Changing the fan to the first board should resolve your issue.

It didn't resolve the issue, plugging the fan into the first card. Do you have one of these? Have you tested this before?

Well, I think I screwed up. One of the hashboards won't come on any more. The other two work, so I can still run it at 2/3 capability. I will be looking to move it indoors, instead of outside in my mining shed. I guess the humidity and/or heat was too much for it, being in south Texas. Some of the components have green around the contacts. I went to blow off the dirt and debris with an air compressor, and part of the red paint over the copper came off. Looks corroded bad.

I know you guys are talking economics, but I'm still wondering if anyone has had any issues with the Fan being at 0 RPM. I'm assuming it's the controller board. Bitmain wants me to ship the whole machine back, but at these current LTC prices, not really worth the shipping fee. A new controller board from Bitmain is $60. I've tried swapping out with different fans, but no luck. I only have one L3+, so I can't swap out with a different controller board. I do have an A3 that I've switched off. Maybe I can use that controller board? Thanks.

Anyone run into the issue where the miner doesn't detect one of the fans? The fan works, and I swapped it out with a different fan from a different miner, and it didn't detect that one either.

https://hive.auroracoin.is/ is 502 Bad Gateway. I thought keeping my coins in an online wallet would be okay, so I wouldn't have to have multiple alt coin wallets on my computer, but this online wallet seems to be down a lot.

Hmmm....  I have noticed the same.  I think that there are so few users out there that maintaining the site has become a lower priority.

Now I am only making a guess on why this is and have placed some queries out to the developers.

Do you still have the passphrase used to create the wallet ?   perhaps we can migrate you to another wallet.

I personally worked on the Chrome Extension wallet and can promise you support on the wallet.  OF COURSE, you should write down your private key as a backup.

Feel free to reach out to me.

thanks,
michael hannes

Yes, I still have my pin and passphrase. It was only 9.9 coins, so not much to lose. If I could get the coins out, I would probably just exchange them.

Do you guys really think this "could be the one"? I don't want to sound pessimistic, but every miner I've purchased has yet to break even. I'm about to unplug my A3 and sell it on eBay for $200. I bought a D9, mined for a week, and then flipped it on eBay. I ran the numbers through mycryptobuddy, and maybe, possibly, this thing could turn a profit.

I'd probably buy your A3 if you want to do it privately...  Hoping SIA gains a little momentum again, lol.

Hey Paulk201270, I sent you a PM about my A3.

Baikal x10 is not fpga. It's just has programed algo's in chips. Baikal releases new software and it unlocks those programmed algos. All planed algo's were already in a chips before releasing batch1. They just introduce algorithms step by step with releasing software with needed changes.

Good analysis, what you think are the remaining 3 algos?

I'm pretty sure Groestl is at least one of them.
