A few months ago there was an issue with Etherdelta and some people lost their ETH and tokens.

Has the issue been fixed, is it safe now?

So I live in the UK and as a renter I know exactly how difficult it is to get decent rental properties. The estate and lettings agents charge an absolute fortune for everything from checks to drawing up contracts.

This. Is. Needed.

The community is growing and the support and developers are very active and helpful in their social channels. I see this as being such an important technology in the future.

Re: is bitcoin over?

You did not lose all your investment. Your Bitcoin remains the same and when the price will start moving on the opposite direction, you will see how strong it remains despite the previous dumps it has gone through. Bitcoin is still alive and kicking and this dumping is a good indication that it is still alive and reacting to the market trends. Just trust Bitcoin, continue hodling, and everything will fall to its proper place at the proper time. You will be rewarded for such trust for sure.

Well you lose (some of) your investment if you sell now.

Re: When do you predict coins will be stable again?
by

when you say stable do you mean going up in value every day? Thats not stable haha.

In all seriousness though, I think the current market dynamics is more healthy in the long run than the crazy bubble bull run that we experienced before. That was unsy=ustainable. This is more like a regular market but with extra volatility cos this is crypto currency and whats more volatile than that?!

Re: Why China is always bad news for bitcoin?
by

I think eventually all countries will follow what China and South Korea are doing. Namely forcing exchanges to have proper KYC lke any financial institution. This will not be the death of crypto but its birth. It will become more mainstream as it willl be seen in a more legitamate light. And this is a good thing for everyone.

I hope it happens sooner rather than later

Re: Is There A Way to Check Top Holders of A Certain Token?
by
romec1701
on 28/01/2018, 22:24:32 UTC
This depends on what tokens you are talking about. If you are talking about ERC20 tokens then yes, there is a website that you can use to check this:

https://etherscan.io/

To left there is a Token button, where you can search for the specific token you hold (unfortunately you will have to do this one by one)
From there  you can see top owners and the nuber of tokens they hold (as a percentage of tokens created.

Be careful as you may need to check the contracts of the tokens themselves to ensure that the authours cannot just create new tokens out of thin air (a common scam with ICOs is to promise a certain number of tokens to be in existence but then create a load more in the hands of the creators)

If you are not talking about ERC20 tokens then I am afraid I do not know the answer (I believe wave tokens has something similar but do not know about other altcoin environments)

Re: Have you ever borrowed fiat to get btc?
by

on 28/01/2018, 21:27:22 UTC
No, I never borrowed to either buy crypto (BTC or otherwise) or equipment. I was lucky to buy in fairly early and was able to get all my fiat back and am effectively in the game for free now. And what a fabulous game this is. It is the future. But no - borrowing fiat to buy crypto- that way lies madness. Madness I tell you.

Good luck to everyone out there

He sold his stake so that he could not be accused of manipulating price with his comments for his own advantage. It was a wise move now people take what he says seriously...

I think I will be buying some soon.

Re: Bitcoin Cash, the next generation Bitcoin?
by
romec1701
on 02/01/2018, 16:01:23 UTC
Bitcoin cash is basically bitcoin. anything it can do, bitcoin can do as well with a fairly simple change to the code.
It is simple a matter of consensus. If BCH really has stumbled across something then BTC would change to match it. But in reality it hasnt. Both are antiquated tech that cannot math the Transactions per sec of other coins such as Ripple and GBYTE. They are the future for currencies that you use to actually PAY for things with.

Re: Wrongly sent ETH to BTC Address
by
romec1701
on 30/12/2017, 19:59:30 UTC
Yeah sounds like that exchange has very poor checks in place if it will allow an ETH withdrawal to show as approved to a BTC address. The formats of the addresses are totally different, like putting a zip code in a country field, a basic check should have given you an error and aked you to check again.

But here is a lesson to you an others. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU HOLD MORE THAN ONE CRYPTOCURRENCY.

This time you were lucky, you tried to send a currency to the wallet of an incompatible currency. If for example you had sent BCH to a BTC address or another similarly compatible currency working off the same algorithm you WOULD have LOST your coins.

Take care. Check and check again. Cryptocurrency can be very unforgiving. But glad you got it back. Happy new year.

Fees are quite insane at the moment. But this is down to greedy miners and inexperienced users. SW and LN will make things better but also when miners realise that the value of their BT holdings will tank if they don't reduce their mining profit margins they will do something to help lower fees.

Thanks. 27m give or take sat waiting. And an unknown proportion of which is going to the exchange. Less than I had thought Smiley Good news for the coin then!
