There used to be a tutorial on how to import the default_wallet created on desktop into Android electrum. I can't seem to find it.

I remember having to do that when creating multisig wallets on desktop, then somehow transfer them to Android devices thru adb.

I bought a new phone, need to set the android electrum up from one of the default_wallet files on Desktops.

not much comparing to btc, but if start from scratch, it'll need a lot of IO for days (it once overheated my drive). There's a boostrap option though.

i have an old scotcoin wallet, and i was wondering how i move the coins to the counterparty wallet.
You said it has a wallet, i doubt an XCP asset has a wallet so i dont think you can move it.

didnt they all have a wallet at some time? how do you get coins from their old wallet into a counterparty wallet, is what i am asking?

You import the private key. Shown here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jtd7xwoy91lurqo/Screenshot%202016-05-20%2011.38.53.png?dl=0

so is that the web based electrum wallet, or is there a qt/core binary as well?

Counterwallet is a web wallet. https://wallet.counterwallet.io/

A centralized wallet is vulnerable to attack.  I thought there was also a qt/core wallet.  I remember a python version.  What ever happened to it?  Is it or another qt/core wallet being updated in sync with the web wallet development?

You can store your XCP and Counterparty assets in Bitcoin Armory and use Counterwallet to broadcast the offline transactions. That way the tokens are never accessible on the web.

Point taken, but do you know what ever happened to the python wallet?  Is there any qt/core development going on?

Last time I used counterblock/lib or something from the official development, pointed that to the coindaddy public counterparty server together with bitcoind wallet. I was able to all counterparty functionalities thru command lines (made a vote for community leader). So I only need to have the big ass bitcoin blockchain, but do not need run the bigger ass  counterparty chain. Not so bad really.

Oh no, after using the android  wallet for a while it cannot send anymore with this error "unpack requires a string argument of length 4". I guess some inputs might have broken the functionality.

I think one of the problem is, in android version, the QR gives "non hex" format of raw transaction ( something like this AFEA*0JN*-P9O1OY+:GV+.GKECS2R$KZW9$6MU6KPMMJLRI74SCEVS$K$NEASLB0.R.U3KEGJ+1UHYGF-Y-:PEY:ES-0D-$P0TUX1F4D6S5P..... ), while in desktop version the qr data is in hex format.

I'm on 2.6.1 both desktop and android.

Trying multisig. So I created electrum multisig-wallets on desktop. I can use desktop electrum to initiate sending and use the android electrum to cosign it, just fine. But I  does not seem to work when initiate sending with android, then desktop to cosign. Ideally I have two android phones, I want them to cosign one another tx.

When android multisig wallet electrum sends coin, it says "Partially signed" with a QR code. I scanned that QR with another android electrum on the send tab. It says "wrong UPE" or something. I also scanned that with my desktop electrum (using load transaction..) It says "unable to parse".

Also android electrum only supports 6 digits password which can be brute forced within a blink, any plans to support characters.. ?

⭐ Merited by ABCbits (1)
For example, i was 3 weeks behind, it synced reasonably quick, but upon reaching 10 days or so, it took forever.

Can I run counterpartyd without bitcoind?

I haven't successful done it myself but
There should be a way.
Look at this
https://counterpartytalk.org/t/counterparty-client-testnet-on-raspbian/1321

You can specify
*counterparty-rpc-connect
and
*wallet-connect

In this case its pointing to the counterpary testnet service in coindaddy, i guess coindaddy may have the mainnet service available too

In your opinion which are more active, which are better?

Both coins laid out comparable beautiful roadmaps, but can they really make it happen or they are just for hyping?

It can be pruned by people who want to prune it. Those who prune do not store the complete blockchain, thereby cannot be seeders of the real full nodes.

Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT
by

on 02/08/2015, 05:21:02 UTC
So poloniex takes the fee from the amount someone wants to withdraw too. Roll Eyes Man this brought me in trouble since i asked poloniex to send a certain amount of my bitcoins but what was sent was less. Leading to problems with the receiver.

Why is it that in the bitcoin area there is a habit of taking the fee of the amount to be withdrawn? I mean you ever went to an ATM, asked it to get $100 in cash but instead you got $99 because they took a fee from it Roll Eyes

This is annoying and its not only poloniex. When i ask to get a certain amount why does exchanges think i would be happy to receive that amount minus a fee?

Sure, poloniex seems to write that somewhere. But when i ask for a certain amount then i await that amount. If i take too much and no space for fee is left then i would await a warning.

This behaviour of exchanges in bitcoin area is annoying. /Rant end

To make a little more profit with side effects of encouraging  people to keep coins with them and discourage using them as a coin mixer plus less transaction lowers resource to run wallet
