Re: Micro-Loans - Personal Credit Made Simple (0.100 BTC Available)

I think you covered the loaning procedures well. Smiley Congrats. However, since you are a newbie, I will highly recommend for you to ask an escrow to hold the collateral for you if the loanee doesn't trust you with it.

Here is a vital post quote that should belong in every loan thread; PM me if you want me to edit it out for some reason.

What is considered collateral?

Collateral is something that can easily be resold to cover the loan value plus interest should the loaner default on the loan.

- The best collateral is another crypto-currency, such as Litecoin (also written as LTC).  Coins must be moderately traded on multiple exchanges.
- Some digital wares such as domain names can be considered as long as the user cannot recover it.
- Small valuable items that can be shipped though the mail - i.e. gold, silver, iphones, etc.
- Large items, such as a motorcycle or guitar can be used if you live close to the person giving you the loan.  Try localbitcoins.com

What is not considered collateral?

- Items not in hand.  Don't trust a user that promises to give you something *when* they default!  Tracking numbers only show something has been mailed - it could be an empty box.
- Future income.  You can prove you'll make xx coins in the next few days, but nothing forces you to send those coins to pay your debt.
- Identification.  So what if they can prove who they are.  Are you going to spend more money and time taking them to court on untested legal grounds?  You'll probably just walk away, like everyone does.  ID is useless.
- Games codes or similar.  To verify the collateral you need to use the code, which destroys the collateral.  Consider this a purchase, not a loan.  (Post in Digital Goods instead)
- Most new alt-coins or alt-coins that trade for satoshis are not good collateral as they can become worthless overnight.
- Paypal should never be used - they are anti-bitcoin and will rule against you 100% of the time.  Escrow can't even help, as paypal charge backs can come over 6 months later!
- Most valuable online accounts can easily be recovered by social engineering (the user contacting support to say they were hacked, and regain control of the account)  Examples:  Steam

When should you use Escrow?

 - Never send collateral directly to a low activity/post account offering you a loan, as they are likely to take your coins and disappear. (Collateral Scam)
 - Use only "Hero Members" or "Legendary Members" for escrow - they have a vested interest in the community with the time they have spent here.
 - Do not use a third party escrow service unless hero members can vouch for it - it's too easy to create a website, do a few escrows then disappear with a big balance.  Rinse and repeat.
- A list of trusted escrows can be found here:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0

GL! Smiley

Many thanks for your reply.

I agree on the 3rd party. as i'm new here i am trying to seek a trusted escrow.

I've just sent OgNasty a pm to see if he will act as a trusted escrow provider to my clients.

Thanks again dude.

I have to say Elon Musk never fails to impress. Always coming up with awesome ideas.

He's is the only entrepreneur I would trust 100%.

Would be interesting to see if miners will pick this technology up.

I need to rent an Antminer S5

Hello,

I'm looking to rent a Antminer S5. I will not accept re-renting machines (Renting from MMR or betarigs and then renting to me).

Ill be looking to rent for the first 24hrs and then if the miner is good I will look to rent for a further 28 Days.

Obviously I need to rent cheap I'm looking preferably at $2.20 - $2.50 per day.

the miner will need to be pointed towards my pool of choice.

I'm not sure how this would work if an escrow is needed.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Using Rockminer R Box w Macminer. Not sure If I have everything setup correctly

Hey guys.. I'm sort of new with all this bitcoin mining thing. I've been trying to mine some bitcoins with my R Box 100-100ghs using  Macminer, obviously on OSX.  I've had little success so far using slush's pool. I've tried other pools but with others , all my stats stay on 0 , except the ghs and shares but unconfirmed rewards is always zero and it won't change. I have no idea if my miner is finding any blocks, though I don't think it is or else there will be some unconfirmed rewards right ? And to my surprise, now MacMiner keeps quitting unexpectedly :/ , so what I did was that I tried bitminter client and it keeps saying : Icarus detection on cu.SLAB_USBtoUART failed. Expected nonce 0.00000109 but got 0xED6A9F36 / no external devices detected. I tried already cgminer and bfgminer but they still won't detect it ! I tried almost everything.. I even installed Silabs VCP driver and everything. I also went on my windows 7 to try it right there but it still says something about icarus and I already installed zadig right there -.- I'm so frustrated. I keep changing from pool to pool but nothing !!  I'm sorry for my ignorance but could someone possibly help me out ? I would greatly appreciate it.

Hey Dude,

You would be better off getting a Raspberry Pi b+ and flash the micro sd with minera.

I'm running two 110GH/s r-boxes on my rpi hashing at antpool.com.

Interesting offer, but three items are not described:
1. Access to miner interface (how it will be done).
2. Do you ship miners to owners at their demand, and if so, what is the price of shipping to regular indications, like US, for example.
3. How is the fee collected (daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly)? I prefer to pay fee in $$, not by taking my mined bitcoin away from my account. If so, how is is done?

Pending this, i am potentially interested.

Hello,

I'm also very interested in this offer.

I will definitely place an order if I will have direct access to the miner interface. Would you be prepared to ship the miner to me if I pay for shipping + any small expenses incurred in shipping.

Can the fees be paid via PayPal (I use paypal for 95% of purchases and subscriptions online).

Cheers

Hello All,

Thought I'd post a small pic of my small mining operation.

http://i59.tinypic.com/214rz3r.jpg

These will soon be replaced with a couple antminer s5 soon.

Specification
My old XFX 850w semi modular psu
2x Rockminer New R-Box 100g both running @ 122GH/s each
Raspberry Pi model b+ running minera.
Antminer PSU jumper

This is just a hobby for me at the moment

That's pretty cool, how much did you pay for the new r-box's?

Hello,
I paid around £50 each including postage.

@Zeta0S
Purchased direct from rockminer. I always try to buy my stuff direct from manufacturers rather than resellers.

Re: New Rbox

I got one of these. I like the fact that it was around the hobby price mark (80$ on amazon). Sure, its close to 1 watt / ghash, but at that price point its ok. Eventually I'll get an sp20 (once they bring it down to a reasonable price, what with the recent crash of BTC/USD).

My only complaint about the new R box is the noise. I ended up removing the guts of the R box from the metal frame and making a foam shroud with a nice 120 mm silencio fan. Now the thing hashes away in my living room.

I totally agree with your comments. Very nicely priced for the hobby miner.

These little things are noisy.

I've spoken with Alex via Skype and he said there is a new 100GH/s miner due out soon.

Hopefully we will have a R-Box with less power consumption per GH/s.

As I've said I'm debating setting up my own mini S5 farm maybe about five or so but going to wait and see where the price is heading. I'd love to have an SP20 but wish it was cheaper.

Anyways happy hashing lol.

Cheers

Bought it about a week and a bit ago just arrived yesterday Cheesy.

GREAT miner for the hobby miner!!

It's been mining for about 14 hours now.  Bought it just as a toy really I already have 2 S3's and 1 S1.  The plan is for it to replace my S1 for alt coin minig as I want to keep the coin I like secure.. or attempt to keep it secure.  Which I believe should be the main purpose of a miner.

Anyways anyone else have the New rbox?

Would you buy the New "New rbox" if they made one?

Hey Dude,

I've delved into home mining for the pure fact that i'm loosing faith in these cloud mining companies.

Bought my two this month and their both running like clockwork hashing @ 122GH/s each at solo.antpool.com.

http://i58.tinypic.com/2ljm4nn.jpg

My only desire is that rock miner will produce a r-box that will use half the power consumption per GH/s other than that i'm going to keep buying.

Waiting on stock to arrive at the euro distribution centre and i'm going to order two more.

I am currently considering building up a small Antminer S5 farm but not sure yet.

I'm using a Raspberry Pi B+ as the controller obviously running Minera (Best management dashboard i've found).

Cheers

I've been trying to save everything I can towards 4 New R-Boxes, will they be available through the website or do you plan to close everything soon?

There are still some NEW RBOX in stock, we will try to find some cooperator to produce together, but it's hard now.

Damn, I was thinking of adding another two to my setup, once configured correctly they are basically set and forget.
My stats are roughly the same as Hurricandaves, the New R-Box's are hashing at 120Gh each @ 330 Mhz using Cgminer 4.3.3, and Pool stats are slightly lower showing around 210 for a pair.
That's at Ghash.io.

is it safe to buy though the online store? my question is, how long will it take to arrive, will it, or will it not be forgotten? will it be lost in the post? (being that i cant insure it off there "Insurance money: No support insure.") i suspect from china, it will take some time to get to me, or should i just get one off ebay? im thinking of getting another to complement the dodgy one i have now, i almost don't care if its another dodgy one again...

Hey Dude,

I've ordered two off the rockminer website and both arrived within a week or so.
My second one I had to wait a bit longer because Alex was waiting for stock to arrive at the euro distribution centre.

I've alwayed received my tracking number within a day or so of ordering.

I have two R-Box 100g both running perfect.

Did you overclock them?

Hey Dude,

I haven't overclocked them both r-boxes running at 122gh/s each at solo.antpool.com this very minute.

Minera is doing all the work all I've done is connect both r-box 100g's to the Raspberry Pi and designated which pool I want to hash at.

Got a New R-box coming myself actually!!

I love the idea of a low power miner.  Run it without worry as 30 cents a day to run it is peanuts.  The true hobbiest miner Smiley.

Yeah, it's perfect for starting off. Build Quality is top notch as well.

Only reason I've gone into home mining is because I'm loosing faith in cloud mining. Even if it cost's more in the long run atleast I'd have something to show for it.

Nonetheless it's more of a hobby for me.

Hello,

Just thought i'd make my first post here as i received my first New R-Box on Monday (5th January 2015) tested it for a while using minera on a virtual machine.

I've also ordered a raspberry pi so i can use miners with Minera Software.

I've also gone ahead and purchased another R-Box tonight (6th January 2015).

The build quality in my opinion is superb for what it is. I was expecting less if i'm honest.

Very impressive. I'm also hoping to do to a review once i'm all setup.

Cheers
