Known issues (driver incompatibilities, etc.) and workarounds:

If you are using Linux drivers 21.40.1 with Radeon VII cards, you need to add the option -fpwm 1 in order to have proper fan control.
AMD Linux drivers 21.40.1 has finally removed the requirement of PCIe atomics but there are problems when you try to mix Polaris (RX4x0/5x0) cards and Vega or newer cards on the same rig.
Some Nvidia cards will report a lot of stale shares under Windows 11. Using the same driver version under Windows 10 resolves the issue.

2) How do they solve the halting problem? Furthermore, how are transaction fees calculated?

You saying "SCAM," but I'm not sure it means the same thing to you as it does to me. The danger with IPO coins, in my opinion, is that the devs just take the money from the presale and run. That constitutes a scam. I don't think you can say it's a scam when tokens have been issued, wallets released, and applications built on top of it. I think at that point you've pretty well gotten what you bought and any further return just comes down to the merits of the coin.

Anyway, "avoid ICOs" is a great heuristic, but it's not proof positive of a scam. I personally feel that the period of danger involved in ICOs has long passed.


Not as undeniable as you assert. There may be a cap, but then again there may not be. Most of what I've heard indicates that there will either be no or very low inflation when the switch is made to proof of stake. At present, it has lower inflation than Bitcoin did in its first few years.

And to be honest, I don't think an absolute hard cap is necessary for a coin to have value. We know Ethereum's rate of inflation will approach zero as time goes on, if it's not set to zero outright at the switch to POS. If the rate of coin loss and rate of economic growth combined outpace the rate of inflation, you get net deflation.


You've repeated this a lot, but I thought this had been addressed: there's a good chance that the address is simply the address where legal notices are to be sent.

That said, I don't trust exchanges in general. I've been around since 2011, and this rule has served me well. I never keep anything of value on exchanges and so have lost nothing when an exchange has gone under. I think most people should do the same.

Sorry, I don't see how this point relates to whether Ethereum is a scam or not. Low liquidity in a new cryptocurrency that people are still trying to get their heads around would hardly be surprising, and it doesn't speak at all to Ethereum's fundamentals.

And at any rate, I've seen sell orders much bigger than that get gobbled up. Fake volume, as you asserted earlier? Maybe. I'll be interested in seeing what kind of proof you come up with. This point hinges entirely on your previous point.

I really don't think it is. It definitely works, definitely brings something new to the table, and is definitely trading.

Just read the whitepaper. Am a little disappointed, to be honest. It's basically a copy of the Crypti paper, and it's very light on details. If you're going to have an ICO, I want something more in-depth and technical than that. I recognize that I can read your code, as it's on Github, but that's not usually my preferred method for coming to an understanding of a complex system. My time is short these days, and digesting code tends to take much longer than understanding a higher-level description.

I bought into the Ethereum presale because every detail had been clearly exposed in its white and yellow papers. With Lisk, there are too many undisclosed details at present for me to feel very comfortable about its future right now. Maybe if I read the code and compare it to Crypti's... but that's a time-consuming proposition.

Testing signature. Haven't read your whitepaper yet, but will be doing so soon. Am intrigued.

It should be safe. It's in beta at the moment, but it's close to being a full release now. I wouldn't expect there to be any horrific, balance destroying bugs to still be lurking in there.

Nope. Ethereum is in its Frontier phase, during which the needs of dapp developers are emphasized. The next phase, Homestead, will focus on building a better user experience and will coincide with the release of a stable Mist wallet with a user-friendly installation process. (Mist is, again, already available for those who know how to navigate Github. There are even precompiled binaries available at https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases, so you don't have compile anything if you don't want to.)

Edit: As for the accusation that there's no development going on, I have to say that the project is incredibly active. It's just that most of what they're releasing right now is targeted at devs and technical users. The dapp ecosystem is also pretty exciting at the moment. It's just not particularly easy to access for most people yet, as user-friendliness was considered out of scope for this phase of development. Hopefully that'll change with the upcoming Homestead release, though.

Hey guys! Sorry for the late update. I've been swamped with work and writing a review here just kept getting pushed to the bottom of the list. I wanted to do a really solid, play-by-play review, but I've just got too much higher-priority stuff going on.

TL;DR: I'm happy with the service I received.

After filling out the form and sending the bitcoin requested, I received an automated email confirming my order. There was silence for a while after that, so I emailed Ivan around three days later and received an apology shortly after stating that he'd been having issues with his email and hadn't received the order notification.

Four days after that, I received an email (which went straight to my spam folder, so it's good thing I'd been checking there) with eight proposed logo designs. After a few days of consideration I chose the one I liked best. Two days later I received an email with two zip files and a PDF. The PDF was a single-page "corporate identity" guideline, with hex codes for the colors used in the logo and the name of the font, as well as various renderings of the logo: buttons, an app icon, a vertically-oriented logo, a horizontally-oriented logo, and a "general use" logo. One of the zip files contained various 3D renderings of the logo: the app icon rendered in brushed metal, the "general use" logo rendered in brushed-metal-on-leather, the "general use" logo rendered in embossed-foil-on-paper, and the vertical logo on a piece of paper with a suggested mission statement underneath, hung from string and paper clamps in front of a white wall. The other zip file contained the logos and the app icon from the corporate identity PDF as PNGs, plus a white-on-transparent rendering of the "general use" logo. All the PNGs in that zip file were 1000 pixels on their longest side.

This is exactly my thinking on the matter. I would rather pay more and have more time and care put into my logo than skimp and get something which necessarily had very little effort put into it. If you're doing a one-off experimental MVP, fine, pay $5 for a logo that someone threw together in a minute or two. But if you're getting ready to put some real time and effort into something, you've got to make it look good.

That said, I recognize I'm taking a risk on an untried designer here. I've benefited in the past from other people who've taken risks like that, so I consider this paying it forward. Like I said, I'll let you all know how it goes, and hopefully it pans out for me.

I don't even know what to say to this. This is only your second post here, and your first one was also criticizing someone else's business. You have no credentials, no reputation, are offering no services, and the only thing you've done so far is try to tear down people who do have those things. You're sitting on the sidelines heckling the people who are actually in the game. Right now, you are of less than zero value to this community. I do not understand people like you.

Just got a reply! According to OP they didn't get notified of my order due to issues with their email system. We'll see where this goes from here.

If you don't want people to send you ridiculous offers, you need to define what you consider ridiculous. I would personally consider $50/hr a reasonable rate, but some people see that and think it's ridiculous. I've worked for $25/hr and less, but I consider that ridiculously low for what I do now and will no longer work for those rates. I know of developers who get billed out to clients for as much as $250/hr. I'm not there yet myself, but I'm working on it.

So what's your budget? What is ridiculous for you and what is reasonable?

Yeah, I did. Should have insisted on an escrow. I was over-motivated and under-cautious that day.

There's work up on their website. That said, for 0.9 BTC I expect better customer service. I've emailed them twice since contracting them and haven't heard anything back. If I were you, I'd avoid until I see something from them. I might have just made an expensive mistake, and you would do well not to repeat it if I indeed have.
