Since you are SDC lead dev, and you create this new project for new ICO, am I correct?

I'm a consultant on this project, and I am still SDC Lead dev. There will be a crowdsale for Blocktix at a later stage, to bring the idea, business and concept to life.

Not sure if this was investigated, but would be nice to have a portable version of the HD wallet. Something you can put on a USB stick and doesn't require user directory access on a local computer. Any way, just an idea Smiley.

That's a good idea Smiley all we'd need is a shortcut that tells the exe where the data directory is. something like shadow.exe -datadir=./shadow, then add the blockchain and index files to the shadow directory, as well as the wallet.dat, it will be better once we release the new lite wallet, then you wouldn't have to worry about the blockchain.

Our community members have asked us to give short weekly updates so everyone can have an idea what we are up to and in which direction we are heading. So here we are again, with a small update and some new download links that everyone should install as soon as possible.

There is a new phoenix wallet update with version number 1.4.0.2. It has some enhancements to the block organization which needed some fine tuning. Please make sure you have the latest client (1.4.0.2) installed before the hardfork on block 783000.

Downloads
Download links available on GitHub!

Code:
https://github.com/shadowproject/shadow/releases/latest

Exchanges
We are in process of notifying the exchanges to make the transition as smooth as possible. Bittrex will most likely be the first exchange to be on the updated wallet but the rest will surely follow.

Sofware development
Rynomster is now working full time on the decentralized market and is making great progress. The alpha release is right around the corner, we just need to finish up the last few issues.

The new UI2 is getting its final touches and some additions by crz. Taking into account the upcoming mobile wallet, the new UI is built to work on every screen size.

Community development
Ampersand and code have started a Business Development Plan for our decentralized cryptocurrency-based market on Slack. Please feel free to join the conversation and contribute to the Slack channel #businesslounge

More people are getting involved in the Shadow Project and others have shown an interest to join. Once the alpha version of the market has been released, we plan on contacting a cryptographer to review and test our code, maybe even become part of the project.

The main website shadowproject.io and our blog were temporarily down because of server issues. They have been resolved and some additions have been made such as:
1. Updated roadmap on the website
2. Press articles from prominent journalists have their own image

Side notes:
It is a great honor that ShadowCash has been mentioned in Science Magazine and it feels good to see us getting the media attention we deserve. Science Magazine is probably one of the best and most recognized magazines in the world of science.

We have much more planned so stay tuned for the next update. These updates will be on a more regular so everyone remains in the loop.

Best Regards,
The Shadow Team

There will be a reindex on first launch, so it will look like its hanging / frozen. The reindex does take a while, then it will close when its done. After that you can open your wallet and continue staking Smiley

Great, thank you ffmad Smiley

Actually this file cannot be decompressed and unarchived. It produces shadow_1.3.3.3_macosx.app.tgz.cpgz

You can tar xfz it, but let me create a .dmg for you.
I have a sliding tag on the v1.3.3 branch called v1.3.3.4.tmp, busy building it.
I will upload it to the downloads folder, then as soon as 1.3.3.4 is released I will update it again.

Just uploaded to http://shadow.cash/downloads/shadow_1.3.3.4.tmp_macosx.dmg
will get the latest link updated. Thanks X1235

Update: Thursday, 30 April 2015

New ShadowCore Client Now Available For Download!

The testing / fixing phase for PoSv2 has been successfully completed. PoSv2 will give the Shadow network extra security over the longer term as no one will be able to save up enough coinage in order to over-power the network. Although a 51% attack has not been successful on any PoS v1 coin, we opted to upgrade to eliminate theoretical attack vectors before moving on to our next objectives. We’ve also merged in the latest BC codebase and all the code we wanted from the bitcoin codebase, so we are officially up-to-date.

ShadowMarket will be using BIP32 keys for the market categories, so we are moving ahead with the HD wallet development. This will allow us to have tree level categories in messages, so people could subscribe/publish to certain categories. With this release, we’ve generated the BIP32 prefixes, which will be published as soon as we have a working HD wallet.  This is a big step towards the development of the marketplace.

Get Ready For POS V2!

ShadowCash will be forking on May 6th to switch to PoS v2. This is a mandatory update, please update as soon as possible!

We would like to thank all participants that helped us during the testing phase, we look forward to hearing about your first experiences.

The mac build will be released later this week, as soon as I have access to my mac. I'm currently in the process of moving house, so my mac is in storage.

Update: Tuesday, 20 April 2015

New ShadowCore Client Now Available For Public Testing

Our development team has been hard at work integrating new features into ShadowCore that will better support our upcoming ShadowMarket. In order to best support a P2P marketplace environment the ShadowCore client has been updated to prepare the network to switch from using Proof of Stake to Proof of Stake v2. PoS v2’s revised coin weight calculation encourages greater network stability by not factoring in “coin age”. Therefore saving up coin age is no longer possible so nodes will need to be online more in order to get their stake reward. It'll involve a move from scrypt to SHA256 which will mean staking requires less processing power (especially helpful for mobile users wishing to stake their coins). The new system is also designed to solve security issues which made PoS v1 coins open to certain theoretical attacks. For more information see Blackcoin's Proof-of-Stake Protocol v2 white paper.

The upgrade took a great deal of work from the developers (you can view full details of the 230 changed files with 12,219 additions and 8,455 deletions here. There’s a summary of the changes in the release notes.

To participate in our public testing phase join the shadowtesting channel on slack.

ShadowGo Progress Update

We’re currently putting the finishing touches to an upgraded version of our Android wallet. This will give mobile users the full anonymizing functionality of ShadowSend v2. The beta version will be posted in the next few days for a short round of community testing before the full release. Stay tuned for further details.

ShadowMarket Progress Update

Good progress is being made on the Shadow Marketplace. Our developers expect to pick up speed now that all the necessary updates have been made to ShadowCore and a date has been scheduled for the PoS v2 hard fork. We will be working on upgrading ShadowChat for secure messaging, which will be the backbone of the whole market place, using BIP32 addresses for category trees. After that we will be working on anonymous mutltisig transactions. We are aiming to have a beta version ready for public testing and feedback within Q2. ShadowMarket will be the primary focus of our developers and the next feature to be added to the ShadowCore client.

Thank you all for your continued support and enthusiasm,

The Shadow Team

Hello, can someone please let me know, How many shadow coins in total are to be released I believe there are nearly 6.5 million in circulation at this time?

Thanks

Shadow uses Proof of Stake (PoS) to secure the network. With that comes a 2% annual growth that goes to "stakers" who process transactions. So to answer your question about total coins to be released, the current supply is 6.4+ million and that grows by 2% annually.

Thanks for the explanation exactly what I wanted to understand.

Is this not modified by conversions to sdt? Eg total supply and stakeable  = Sdc - anon tokens eg sdt? If so, and to my current understanding, available SDC is quite a bit lower than 6.5 million.

That is correct. Shadow also does not stake, only SDC.
The 2% annual growth, is only on SDC, so the more Shadow, the less inflation.

Hey all
We've been quite busy over the past 2 weeks, working on the PoSv2 merge + SHA-256 enhancements.
The PoS v2 merge is going well, and we should soon be upstream from BlackCoin once again.
Once we're ready, we will start getting everyone ready for the hard fork to PoS v2.

We're having a few issues with the Android wallet, but I'm trying my best to get those sorted.
Hopefully if all goes well, next week we will be able to announce a release date for the latest changes and android wallet.
The new android wallet will have the HTML5 interface, as well as the ability to switch between a full node and a lite node.

From here onwards we'll be doing major enhancements to the secure/encrypted messaging, which is required for the marketplace.

We thank you again for our amazing community, and all the effort that is going into this project from all around the world.

Hello everybody,

It’s good to see you all so actively supporting Shadow and staying positive as we work towards the release of our decentralized market. As some of you may have noticed, we’ve been a bit quiet on these forums lately when it comes to actively reaching out to all of you with development updates. This doesn’t mean we’ve been sitting still though, because we have a fun week ahead of us. We'll come back to that later.

First of all we are very happy to announce that both Tecnovert and I will be working full-time on Shadow from now on! We're setting our main jobs aside for the upcoming months so that we can really focus on the job at hand. This will obviously result in quicker progress when it comes to releasing new features. Going forward we are also going to post a lot more in terms of development reports. Our team has been working with Shadow community members who are setting up a new website with a development blog to keep you all up to date. So expect regular updates from now on - this one being the first.

The weeks ahead of us are all about ShadowMarket so we are pleased to announce that we have started integrating it into Shadowcore’s back end. We're currently switching from scrypt to SHA-256 so that staking requires less cpu cycles, updating to PoS v2 to improve network stability and working on BIP32 and BIP44 support so that we can support hierarchical / tree categories for the market. Once we are finished with these enhancements, things should start moving significantly faster. We will be making radical changes to the Secure Messaging (ShadowChat), to support Pub/Sub messages, so that people could subscribe to certain categories for the market, where we will then move towards our first round of public alpha/beta testing. We’ve noticed there are lots of questions about how ShadowMarket will work so we have begun gathering them and will answer them in an overview later this week. So much about the upcoming Shadowmarket for now.

We are all still waiting for Isidor Zeuner’s review of our ShadowSend anonymity system in comparison to other anonymous cryptocurrencies. It is still ongoing and we are currently writing more documentation, which is currently our weakest point. We’ve been in contact with Isidor and are trying to give him a helping hand where needed. Please note that it’s quite a task seeing as he will not only study our system but also compare it to the alternatives out there.

As said earlier, we have a fun week ahead of us. We will try to give more specific details on that later this week.

Thank you all for your support!
