Re: Bitcoin Cash BCH up to 4000 $
by

This was a manipulated attack.  Market manipulation to score millions by whales.  I heard that segwit 2x was never going to happen.  At the New York meeting the big mining groups, the developers, exchanges etc never planned for it to happen and their whole idea was for BCH to be the coin of the realm.  So everyone believed segwit was going to happen and bought btc to score on the 16th. Then as soon as it was 'canceled' they started pumping bch knowing that people would start buying bch like crazy, moving their btc over.  And then at the peak of the parabolic run, they dumped instantly.  I tried to set sell orders at about the level of the pump before it happened on bittrex and it wouldn't accept it.  Everytime I hit 'confirm' it would execute the sale instantly. So I'd buy back and try again and no go. Its shit like this that will confirm Jamie D's ect FUD and will raise the red flags by the SEC. The bottom line is that its the same type of assholes that caused the crash of 08 are moving into crypto.  Same shit, different day. They will never let crypto live up to its lofty goal of being 'for the people' because they have the black edge and they cheat.  I won't buy bch now because its dirty.

I think in the upper echelon they've had meetings that they need to stop this. No news but bad news anymore and the ticker is reflecting that. What say you guys?

Coinbase, Kracken etc are trading at around $3800 while OkCoin is $4050. Whereas when the china news first broke OK ( who always traded above US and EU exchanges) sank below then. That tells me that there's something phony about this China FUD.

The whole question is ludicrous because you're still measuring it against the US dollar. A better question then is "what will the dollar be worth in 2027?"  Until bitcoin is the gold standard the whole deal is twisted.

Money is crystallized energy and like blood needs to circulate. I can't pay my rent, buy groceries, pay a traffic ticket or my power bill with bitcoin. I use it to buy things off Amazon and whatever else I can because until people start using it as a viable currency and start circulating it, its starting to look like a giant ponzi scheme. It's a good sign that companies like  Amazon are accepting it as well as major banks etc. they're not going to invest energy into a losing thing. So my thing is to hodl and spend, thereby supporting the idea and the community. Money/bitcoin/chickens/stones ( depending on the times you live in) need to be circulated or else they die.

So I've been trying to transfer my coin from Coinbase to my wallet since yesterday and nothing happens. I've tried 4 times. They say there's going to be a delay but I'm pretty convinced that it's not happening so it's going to stay on the exchange. One thing slightly worries me though, I'm wondering if my repeated tries are going to cause an error. It's like you go to send, paste the address, type the amount and hit send. Then the blue button blinks, and comes back again- no change. No 'ok transaction ', nothing. When I go to history it shows no transaction and my Coinbase btc wallet shows no change. Huh

You need to understand that trading on an exchange like Coinbase has fees for every transaction. On top of that the buy/sell rate is different then the posted current value. "Buy" is always more then current value and "sell" is always less. So they make $$ on both ends- fees and buy/sell rates. So you need to factor that in before thinking about trading for profit.

There are too many big investors, big money high profile investors, countries and %1's in it to fail. It's hit mainstream. It's not going to fail because there's too many connected people in it. Buy bitcoin if you can.

Re: where are you keeping your coins (1 aug)

I'm keeping some on bread wallet and copay on my iPhone. Going to get a trezor. Anyone have experience with these wallets?  My exchange is Coinbase but everyone is saying don't leave it there. Question- when you remove your coin from the exchange into say bread wallet, does your private keys come too?  Still learning about this. So I copy an address in "receive " in my wallet and paste it in Coinbase 'send'. Then I receive bitc. Is that my private key or if not, how do I get it?  Thanks.

It seems Coinbase is having 'sending delays' so you might not be able to move your coins.  I don't have a trezor yet so I got Bread wallet on my Iphone.  I'm still new to this and everyone's saying move your coins from the exchanges.  But It looks like that time has passed or will be delayed.  BTW, when you do make a transfer, does it automatically give you your private keys or does the exchange still have them?

So with bitcoin going down my value is sinking too. Maybe this is because of the August event.  My bitc is still on the exchange (coinbase) because I was trading. So should I get say a trezor and put it in cold storage, or should I wait till it raises ( if it does) and then do it?  Or not bother?  If the value of my coin dropped from $2600 to $2400, will I lose by taking it offline when low or does the % relative to the market stay the same?  Example, is a half a btc a half a btc no matter what the price is?  Thanks.

I've been watching the cycles for a month now and every week it's the same scenario. Bitcoin drops on Friday to around $2300-$2400 and starts pumping on Sunday maxing out around Wednesday. It's happened every week. My guess is that it's going to continue this pattern  until the last week of July then all bets are off.

Different price when buying or selling on Coinbase then posted value
by
sailman
on 05/07/2017, 21:46:58 UTC
I have noticed when trying to trade bitcoin on Coinbase that the current price is different then the trading price.  If you sell its always at least $10 less and if you buy its $10 plus more.  So for example if its current posted price is $2500 if you sell it will show you selling at $2487 etc.  I don't know if all the exchanges are like this since I'm new to this.  But if this is the way it is then that would mean the current price is meaningless because when you try to sell your coins it sells for less and if you want to buy coins, your purchase price is more. So what is the point of posting an unusable value?? This seems to me like double dipping since they also charge you a transaction fee.  Unless I"m missing something.  Can anyone explain this?  Thank you.

So how far down do you guys think its going to go?  I sold at a profit at 2780 and waited for it to drop to buy back in.  My goal was to keep trading until I made enough from profit to hold.  So I kept seeing it fluctuate and finally bought back at 2640.  Later that day it started going down and it hasn't stopped going down.  I"m not going to sell because I did that before and lost $ but every minute it keeps sinking.  Of course I"m thinking if I only would have waited and bought in now but you just can't second guess this stuff.  Any suggestions?

I bought back in when it was 2588, but by the time it executed, it was 2614.  I waited a week before I bought in again just to watch.  And then it sunk to 2423.  But I didn't panic.  Now its back up again and my plan is to sell at 2670 or so if it gets that high and then wait again and buy in when (if) it gets around 2400 again.  Then hold. I'm not going to sell for a loss again.
