How long you strong for holding some coin? I ever hold more than two year and earn much profit when I hold ripple coin and then back to higher price above $3. I know how profitable when you hold some coin on your wallet but many time I loss moment when holding many coin but never change with higher price, keep down but I sell before become shit coin.

Thats why you shouldn't hold ALT coins (excluding ETH)

It died 10,000 times already, get over it.
Same as the death, it has experienced lot and lots of resurrection. This means death of bitcoin is eventual, as the same is the growth. With time it'll overcome and reach big, if bitcoin had died, now grasses could've hidden the place where its been buried.

BTC are similar Phoenix from your words)

Re: The higher BTC goes, the bigger the risk/reward ratio and the less buyers enter

Bitcoin is definitely a better option in almost all cases. Its digital nature enforces a limited supply, fungibility, high divisibility, and great portability.

Moreover, some experts consider BTC to have an even lower inflation rate due to its cyclic reward halving which makes it even better than gold for long-term investors.

Re: XRP Price After Lawsuit?

Rippple won't come to an end for sure, and the lawsuit is still ongoing, we don't know if they're gonna win it or not, even if they lose it, Xrp won't be dead but we all know it will go down a bit, or go back up if they win the lawsuit, which is what i think is going to happen.
Yes, and I am also more confident that the XRP token will win in the lawsuit, although for now the XRP has not won, but chances are they will be able to solve all the things that have happened through the lawsuit.

Even if XRP will win in the lawsuit the reputation was ruined.

Polkadot (DOT), the second-largest smart contract protocol in the cryptocurrency market by valuation behind Ethereum, is up nearly 30% in the last 24 hours. Polkadot's market capitalization has also surpassed $10 billion, solidifying its position as the fifth-biggest crypto asset.

There are several major reasons behind DOT’s strong uptrend: strong technical market structure, anticipation of scalable blockchain networks, and the craze around DeFi.

Re: Is mining doomed to end in big farms?
by
sallybein987
on 13/01/2021, 20:40:27 UTC

Yes. When I turned on my 1st newbie miner on October 18th, 2013, Bitcoin at least 'some-time' that day was $150.00 even when I looked and I made about

1 BTC a day. The miner was a KNC Jupiter 550gh Bitcoin Miner and cost to the USA from Sweden with shipping exactly $5,131.80 pre-order from 7/1/2013.

Now doing the math (philipma1957 in another thread did the math) using Bitmain's new AntRacks monster units that ship 3/2021 supposedly and NOT counting

the import/tariff of 26.7% to the USA, nor shipping, nor install fees, and NO electricity.

Well, the price to just have the equipment to make 1 BTC a day is 'supposedly' by the math: $4,500,000.00 USD investment.

If that does not tell you 'big farms' are not the future, not sure what will. The big farms also probably by now need 2c-3c kWh electric 'at least' to boot!

Brad

Wow, what a story tale  with clear numbers without water. Thank you a lot!

In my opinion BTC,ETH,ADA

I want add XLM and BCH.
Do you thinks XLM not have impact with XRP delist on many exchange market and could effect lower price later, I see last few months XLM price always have the same price with XRP, when XRP up XLM will go up and exactly when XRP down XLM will down too. But now look not relationship between XLM and XRP because XLM could going up without waiting XRP have should have higher price too, maybe now XLM will depend with his self and keep up without waiting XRP.

Lol, how did you manage to come up with this theory? this is completely untrue, could you say that has happen during the period when xrp was pumping in price as a result of the airdrop announcement? i didn't notice any price movement with xlm during those period! it will be better to get your facts right rather than making up stuffs.

nothing to add.

Re: Bitcoin outperforming Gold
by
sallybein987
on 13/01/2021, 20:10:37 UTC
Both Gold and Bitcoin are seen as stores of value, as protection from political and economic turmoil, and as safe havens from the unbridled expansion and subsequent devaluation of major fiat currencies like the US dollar. Both will continue to be used by investors to preserve least a portion of their wealth. But Bitcoin has some inherent advantages over gold, advantages unique to today’s fast-paced electronic world that will enable Bitcoin outperform Gold for a long time to come.

Re: The price of Bitcoin has exceeded $34,000. Is it still suitable to buy now
by

the price of bitcoin drop sharply to it low within 24hours on 12th of on janaury , although the price  recover to some few percentages , is the crash over now or more sell position will come in few days time . am thinking of buying at 34k , my question is it good to take a long position now ? what is your bias towards the market today .

34k is too hight and risky to invest. Try to separate, for example 1/3 in BTC, 2/3 ALTS.

The alt coins are almost uniformly just trash.  Little innovation, centralized or both.  At worst, 90% bitcoin, 10% alts.

As far as bitcoin being "too high" at 34k, people said the same thing at $1, $10, $30, $100, $1000, $2000, $10000, $20000.  Really, go back and read the forums.  Look at slashdot when it hit dollar parity and then gold parity and the milestones in between.  People may still be waiting for it to get "back under $1"  (or $100, or $1000).  The correct answer is that NO ONE KNOWS.

If you believe in the use cases for bitcoin, of which there are numerous, then the price will be higher in the future.  If you don't, then you shouldn't be in any crypto at all.  At worst, dollar cost average into your position.  Of course if you started that in November or March of 2020, you'd have been better off going all in.  No one knows the future though.

Market timing is only luck.

What altcoins you talking about? I mean ETH, XLM, XRP after SEC maybe.
invest in 34k and in 1 dollar - different things, you know.

German-born programmer Stefan Thomas told the Times he forgot the password to IronKey, an secure flash drive has access to 7,002 Bitcoin - $220 million worth. IronKey gives users 10 guesses for their passwords before seizing its contents.
"I would just lay in bed and think about it," Thomas told the New York Times Nathaniel Popper. "Then I would go to the computer with some new strategy, and it wouldn't work, and I would be desperate again."

quite surprised by this news because his Bitcoin trapped in his hardware wallet is very much.  Don't underestimate your private key and password, if you haven't prepared the best place (easy to remember and reach) to store your private key and password then do it right now..

https://markets.businessinsider.com/currencies/news/programmer-locked-out-220-million-in-bitcoin-forgotten-password-2021-1-1029961378

I read about him.

Actually, his problem is an IronKey password. It can be brute-forced much easier, and he already got a few proposals for it. So he will be probably one of the few real new-forgotten millionaires Smiley

just pray for him. Wink

Goldman says bitcoin is starting to mature but institutional money is a tiny fra
by
sallybein987
on 13/01/2021, 15:30:07 UTC
Bitcoin is showing signs of maturity but the level of institutional investment in the nascent market is still very small, according to Goldman Sachs’ Jeff Currie.

The investment bank’s head of commodities research said that more money from the financial world would need to flow into bitcoin in order for it to stabilize. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies saw a brutal sell-off on Monday that wiped off as much as $200 billion from the market value of all digital coins combined in just 24 hours.

That came after a remarkable surge for bitcoin in the last few months, with the world’s most valuable virtual currency hitting a record high near $42,000 last week. Bitcoin is still up roughly 15% since the start of the year, trading 4% higher at a price of $33,873 as of 10:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday. Ether, the second-largest digital currency, was up 5%, trading at $1,058.

“I think the market is beginning to become more mature,” Currie told CNBC’s Steve Sedgwick in an interview Monday. “I think in any nascent market you get that volatility and those risks that are associated with it.”

“The key to creating some type of stability in the market is to see an increase in the participation of institutional investors and right now they’re small,” he said, adding that, of the more than $600 billion invested in bitcoin right now, “roughly 1% of it is institutional money.”

Investors increasingly view bitcoin as a store of value similar to gold, amid worries that unprecedented economic stimulus in the face of the coronavirus pandemic will devalue major sovereign currencies like the dollar.

Last year saw the emergence of well-known Wall Street investors like Paul Tudor Jones and Stanley Druckenmiller betting on bitcoin. Some asset managers have also allocated a small portion of their portfolios to the cryptocurrency, seeking to get some exposure to its wild gains.

Re: What is floor do you expect after $42k ?
by
sallybein987
on 13/01/2021, 15:03:50 UTC
Bitcoin traded near $42K on Friday and near $30K on Monday. An asset that drops 28% over a weekend is not a safe-haven, a store of value, or a viable hedge against inflation.

It was a very healthy and needed correction so bitcoin can continue it's bullish movements.

I know, about needed correction. Hope it's over and in closest future we will see only growth.
