Hi Raging,

I only got partly refunded, I got a refund of 1.68 instead of 2, according to the form it said I would get 2BTC refunded. Any reason why it became 1.68?

Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance

With the fractional difficulty reaching a high level a useful optimization might be the "Sieve depth", represented as nBits in this line of code from prime.cpp

lpsieve = new CSieveOfEratosthenes(nSieveSize, nBits, mpzHash, mpzFixedMultiplier, pindexPrev);

Right now it it is searching for 9 chains, but increasingly these are going to be discarded because of the fraction test. It might be best to search for 10 chains now. I added a -h parameter to the pool miner as described below and it was quite effective at searching for the desired length of chain:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=257623.msg2820614#msg2820614

I propose -h 10 might be the best until the diff reaches 10.5 or so.

This chart also shows it being very difficult to find chains using the existing miners when the fractional part is high:
http://192.241.170.170/

I support this idea.  Although, to my knowledge all that will affect is the roundPrimorial which you can crank up by jacking with roundSievePercentage.

So should we make roundSievePercentage higher or lower, it's currently 70% at my configs. Does this also depend on what kind of CPU we're using?

Is there a big difference in performance between pre-compiled binaries and self-compiled?

I'm thinking about only compiling libgmp from source and using the precompiled binaries for primecoind.

Thanks a lot for your guide btw!

Weird stuff... I'm using v6 and the last 3 shares as soon as I find one I get disconnected.

08/11/13 - 16:08:09 - SHARE FOUND !!! (Th#: 2) ---  DIFF: 6.717313 - VAL: 0.100    >6
xpt: Disconnected, auto reconnect in 30 seconds
Sieve/Test ratio: 74.7 / 25.3 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 59
Sieve/Test ratio: 100.0 / 0.0 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 61
Sieve/Test ratio: 0.0 / 100.0 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 59
Sieve/Test ratio: 0.0 / 100.0 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 53
Sieve/Test ratio: 0.0 / 100.0 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 47
Sieve/Test ratio: 0.0 / 100.0 %  - New PrimorialMultiplier: 43

Anybody saw something similar?

Edit: It keeps happening now all the time, already like 5 times now at least and maybe some more times I didn't saw it.

No good for scrypt, primecoin should work.

Even 7020 version with 512KB of RAM?  I bought that version a few days ago just for fun, mainly for Monte Carlo/Machine learning stuff, but I thought I'd give it a go for some scrypt mining.

-Merc

When I tried to buy it just now it said the 7020 version isn't available. How did you buy it?

Edit: Had to select With GPIO also Tongue

I'd suggest you ask all the #11 to either give permission to be put on the jupiter list or get refunded, so you can close it for good.
It's really just better for everyone to be on jupiter, so I don't think anyone minds.

+1 Yes move my share to either one, so that we can finally close this.

Reserve 3 shares for me, will pay when I get home tonight Smiley

If I understood right my 3 shares will be converted to 150 ADDICTED shares later no matter the current price, which I could sell then?
When exactly will they be converted?

Edit answering myself lol: If everything goes according to plan my current 3 shares will be converted to 150 ADDICTED shares on bitfunder in September/Oktober. This is only done to make it easier to sell shares and to easily handle dividends.

Instead of a different Jupiter thread - any thoughts on just making this one mining company.  It would seem easier to me to have shares in the whole instead of each separate machine - then you can mix and match the Jupiter Vs Saturn as needed.  Machines are not due until September and later.  I know I would like to get more shares as I get coin from mining etc.  Not so sure I want to keep track over many machines and 2 threads...

Wow great idea!!!

I think I will do this if everyone is interested. It will be easier to track and distribute profits as well!

I think you already sold so many shares, there will be some people who don't like it for sure. Maybe you can mix it. The people who already bought the shares this way, keep it this way and give them what you promised.
But start a new way of buying shares in your whole mining company and sell shares for those independently of the people who already bought shares.

I'm just waiting till September and hoping I will get a return of investment lol. After that I maybe invest more.

+1 for the mining company conversion though, I would be willing to convert my shares in a machine to shares in the mining company.
