Re: Silk road impact on BTC price ?
by
scryptasicminer
on 22/09/2015, 18:37:27 UTC
After the first version of Silk road went down, the price did drop quite significantly. Investors might just have the mentality that a large volume of Bitcoin was generated by silk road as the adoption rate was small then. It rebounded after that, the second silkroad didn't have much impact likely due to the already high adoption rate and there are better alternatives to silkroad.

The first bust caused btc to drop 30% I think.

i just lost my phone. i have some sensitive files in my sd card but i deleted it 3-4 days ago is there a way for the thief to recover it?

Probably.  But it's not probable they will bother looking for deleted files.

damn it i have some nude pix and videos of my previous girlfriends. im afraid it might end up at youporn ads. although im pretty sure i deleted it 2-3 days ago

lol, if you use android, there are an app name digblablabla(i forgot ) that can be recover the file that been delete , just pray that thief is fool, so your not gonna end with porn site ads

Any thief who steal smart phone probably know what they are doing or have access to someone who can hack and recover files.

Re: Pre-launch Sign-up: new Bitcoin based exchange with Deposit insurance
by
scryptasicminer

Who is the owner? And why should we trust the owner not to run away?

This question can be asked about almost any Bitcoin based service and even fiat based business out there.
There are some common best practices that any exchange should follow: from proof of reserves to security and due diligence: KaiserBourse will conform to these guidelines.

There is another best practice. for Traders checking out a new service :

1. Before committing to a large deposit, make a small one, then ask to pull out your deposit.

2. Another thing is deposit only what you want to trade with. then pull out balance when transaction ends. This way you don't have to rely on the Exchange for the long run. just for Ad-hoc trading.

Additional "Trader best practice" suggestions are welcome

Some of the well known exchanges have proven themselves to be trust worthy. And they have viable and lucrative business model that make them unlikely to kill the golden goose.

Re: Is bitcoin dead?

Bitcoin is not dead but loosing its popularity by the emergence of altcoins.

Er, what?

Which single alt has gained any mainstream press or VC investment in significant numbers recently?

There is Ripple but that's a payment system. None of the alts out there have made the slightest splash.

Yes. All alt coin beside Ripple should be considered outright fraud (pre-mining, instant mining without letting anyone know).

So unless you've got efficient hardware and dirt cheap electricity don't bother mining unless it's a hobby, you're better off just buying bitcoin.

+100 - THIS^^ should be written in every thread on this forum..I can't express is better by myself.

Don't forget the risk of bitcoin price also. A 10-20% drop means you will be mining at a loss.

A fellow advice me to start bitcoin by opening wallet with Xapo, then collect free satoshi from bitcoin faucets and also bitcoin ptc like coinad.com then use the satoshi to invest in bitcoin hyip like earntomorrow.com or bitcoin pool.
I want to know if this is a good way to begin for beginner without money. Is there a better option?

Start reading this forum and do some small transaction to learn the basic.

Re: How to Use bitcoing to transfer $ to Friend in Nepal?

Title says it all.  I cannot wire money at this time can Nepal banks will not accept   paypal payments, so I read somewhere can do this via bitcoin but I need step by step instruction for sending and for my friend to covert to Nepali Rupee and withdraw?

Hey I am From Nepal Too! I use BenAnh(A trader at bitcointalk) to change my BTC into MoneyGram! Never had a problem Grin You can do the same!

The fee from the money changer is probably a lot higher than using western union or moneygram.

Whether probably smart contract would be a solution to alleviate concerns about possible price fluctuations ? maybe yes maybe no.

Small contract can cut the lawyer and law makers out of the process, which cut out a big portion of the cost on law compliance.

Re: Why do people keep saying BTC is dead?!
by
scryptasicminer
on 02/05/2015, 17:39:15 UTC

those are the old generations, new generation are aware on how to use computer and hi-tech devices

bitcoin isn't born to meet old people, some of them are not even willing to learn, we can't do nothing to this

Are you sure? Like am not that old but I know a lot of younger people quite proficient in computers and networking and they don't give a shit about btc, some of them heard some anecdotal stories, but it's like nobody gives a shit about it still, maybe one in 500 hundreds or more, I don't know, maybe even less, unless they have nothing to do and somehow gets involved a bit accidentally like me.  Do you imagine if those cool computer kids would give a damn about btc by default? It would be a revolution tomorrow! Wink

those must be teenagers or very rich people, and it's obvious that they are not interested in bitcoin, the first because they care only about "pussy drug and rock&roll" you know... the latter because well they have already everything

exception are everywhere, but usually old people(above 50 i would say) are too exhausted to start learning new stuff, bitcoin isnt really for them

The world is shaped by younger generation, older generation who don't keep up will just fade away.
