As much as I appreciate the guide and trying to help people.. everyone getting on there and just wanting to burn their money has made the mining much less profitable if at all :S

So I've noticed over the last 2 hours.. its gone from ypool.net having 12 blocks an hour.. to 7... to 1?  What on earth is going on with the chain?

Yeah I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but not everybody got scammed by him.  I made 15 bitcoin from less than 1 through the exchanges.  I saw this coming too though.  As much as everyone wants to believe in the community and that Realsolid could be some magically non greedy unicorn of a human.  I think we all just see what this is.  Sorry to anyone who lost a lot on the trades.

So I have been following Bitcoin fairly closely for the last year or so, I am excited to hold a very small quantity of Bitcoin on my own and I would love to get more people excited about Bitcoin.

I am trying to put together a presentation that I can take to local chamber groups and business owners meetings to raise awareness of Bitcoin and try to get people interested in it.  I really believe Bitcoin is the future of currency, able to compete with Credit Cards, PayPal, and other online payment solutions.  Bitcoin offers incredible innovative ways to market and expand small businesses. 

I live in the Seattle area and would be glad to have a meeting with anyone that wants to help me facilitate more awareness to businesses and owners. 

Having said all of this, I am looking to the community to help me with a couple things:

One, my presentation..  I am working on it right now, but I need some insight on how to explain Bitcoin to some of the less savvy business owners.  I can be a bit technical and I think that is where my weakness in my sales capabilities.

Two is a venue, if I am able to get as much interest as I'd like I would imagine I need to get a smaller venue to enable more people to come.. This will come a little bit later, but I am open to ideas on how or where I could hold an event inexpensively but that would feel "official".  I have a lot of networking groups that I go to and the small ones are 10-30 people in a small restaurant talking about their businesses.

Three is Processing, I know that BitPay is one processor, but anyone with experience on using a payment processor I would love some input from.  I don't want to be ill prepared when someone gets so interested they are like hey!  How do I accept Bitcoin, what does it cost to configure, and what are the challenges? and I don't have a solid answer for a business owner on it.

The last thing is compensation, although I am not looking to make money from this or anything, I would really hope that a few of you feel passionately about Bitcoin enough to help cover my gas cost or any facility costs.  I Know since I'm fairly new to the scene this may sound like a plea for free Bitcoin.. but please tell me what you'd like me to do to prove myself. 

I plan on doing everything regardless of whether anyone donates anything at all, but like I said I would really appreciate the assistance as I feel like im going to become the crazy guy screaming on street corners saying the Bitcoin is coming!  Prepare yourself!

I know I'm a bit new to the forums, for that matter I don't do forums a lot in General.  I am an experienced web programmer and I am looking to build a website, but before I put a ton of effort into something for nothing... I want to make sure there is an interest in it.

A while back I made an excel sheet that did a comparison of hardware, costs, power output, with all the variables being able to easily be modified.  I now am going to make a much more advanced version and I figured it would be better to just put it onto a website.

The problem I have with the current hardware comparisions is that they don't offer you granular input.  I want to be able to make my own adjustments to a week, two weeks, or maybe a month.. maybe I just want week 34 to have a spike to simulate an explosion of bitcoin?  Anyways..  Let me know your thoughts.  If there is enough interest I will start working on it.

No I get that, I guess this is aimed to help predict the future a bit, but with your own predictions.. You can look at the scaling increases from the historical data and make your own estimations of what the difficulty will be at.  Then take the average of the percentage increase and predict further out..  It lets you change the numbers to your liking where they don't really let you change the data.

These are all asic, FGPA and GPU's are not efficient in the current state of bitcoin mining.  You would end up spending more on power than you can generate.  By the time you purchased hardware the chances of breaking even are slim to none.

Yeah, its frustrating to know that some of the other equipment isn't going to make a dime.  But if you download the file and change the network hashrate (left side in yellow) you can guess or even calculate from the current position.  This also assumes that the growth of network hashrate is going to consistently increase at the same rate that it has so far.  Meaning a total network power of over 9 Petahash by the same time next year.

You can change all sorts of numbers, in the sheet and it will keep calculating, cost of power... etc..  Anyways, just updated the sheet.  But its pure speculation on the xCrowd specifications.. Once I have some better info I'll update it.  I saved the excel file with the network hashrate of 800, I figure this is probably accurate by October if not a bit higher.  So you have to do some changing of the network rate based on when you get the hardware.

Yeah, Ill keep it updated, Cointerra will be making chips as well but im not sure who is doing the hardware.  I'll have to keep an eye on that as well.
