Here is the Bittrex response to my request. He said my request has been solved by this response:

"Thanks for the request. Our policy is to not comment on whether we will launch coins but we mainly add coins due to community demand.

We gauge demand based off of tweets, hash power, length of bitcointalk thread, volume on other exchanges, etc. Follow us on twitter @bittrexexchange and tweet about how much you like this coin and Bittrex. We respond to creative and insightful posts to help market your favorite coins and Bittrex. I'd also consider coming to our irc channel #bittrex on irc.freenode.net and do some guerrilla marketing. The traders there can help you gain exposure for your coin."

I just checked explorer.jpcpal.com and my copy of the block chain is consistent even with the "WARNING: Check point is too old..." message in my wallet. Looks like I'm mining and finding blocks. It's a great time to solo mine with the difficulty so low.

My wallet since yesterday has a note "WARNING: Checkpoint is too old. Wait for block chain to download, or notify developers." I was still able to send JPC to my wallet at an exchange, and it shows up there fast as usual. The only catch was that I also got the message "unable to send transaction." I thought I might have started on a fork of the blockchain so I sent a few smaller transactions (less than half the JPC amount in my wallet), and the transaction sent just fine. I successfully sent all my JPC to another wallet, it just took smaller transactions for some reason.

I'm with miningpool regarding the size of the block chain. One of this coin's greatest strengths is speed of transactions, but there should be some way to address how huge the block chain gets to support this speed.

PS I've been solo mining for a few days. Now that the pool is off line, the blocks are a lot easier to find. It's kind of funny that miningpool mentioned orphans. They were such a large part of the mining community that I would get lots of orphans before they went off line. Over 10%. Just the nature of the game if someone else gets a block in the block chain slightly ahead of you I think.

Nice to see your comments Mr. Buchner. My ears perk up when you mention MaxCoin. Those were heady times indeed. As for this new coin, it's a shame they changed their minds about the prelaunch release of source code, but as an aside, I enjoy mining the coins like these with a side benefit for science.

I am solo mining. Not too worried because there is little to find on my single purpose (mining) rig. Wanted to share my experience as a cautionary tale for others.

I am behind a router. Access to my rig is blocked, except, and this is a big one, the plug-n-play had been turned on by (I think) a virus or exploit of some sort. So it's just another example of mining should probably be done on an isolated machine with separate wallets.

On a side note regarding security:

My mining rig is set up just to mine (Windows + JPC wallet + ccminer and not much else). I checked my router logs recently and found a lot of attacks. Some activity comes from University IT Departments, which routinely map open ports on the net. BUT most of the activity came from South Korea, Ukraine and here's the surprise: I had some attempted LAN access from 23.21.204.34:58679. Yep, miningpoolhub.com. Why would they be trying to access my ports? I hadn't visited them for weeks.

My questions then I suppose were really these (again, I am genuinely interested in an asnwer, and not trying to FUD):

  • What are the repercussions of the much higher rate of orphans?  Are there repercussions?
  • Can this result in more transactions being voided?
  • And finally, since all PoS implementations rely on centralized checkpointing, this means that the operator of the central checkpoint and those nodes closest to that central checkpoint are able to sync much faster than other nodes.  What advantages does this give to those nodes in terms of # of Orphans compared to slower-to-sync nodes farther away?

Repercussions... I'm no expert, I'm just a small amateur miner, but I think:

1. higher orphan rate is shared equally by all JPC miners if the network is balanced, so no one miner is at a disadvantage. The orphan rate might be increasingly unfair if one miner has over half the network hashrate, but then there's a bigger concern that all coins have in this scenario.
2. In my experience with over 100 JPC transactions, I have never had a send/receive transaction voided, but I do get a high orphan rate, which is different from voided transactions. Both the orphaned block and the accepted block that goes into the block chain in its place should have the same transactions, just a different block got the privilege of being recognized by the network.
3. I must have a misunderstanding of the PoS implementation if there is centralized checkpointing. Maybe someone else could address this question.

In practice the short target block time intervals have resulted in extremely fast transactions (confirmations).

@nanoprobe

your block have been orphaned by the PoS block as PoS blocks have more trust weight. Look into the log file: a few lines later you should see something like REORGANIZE: disconnect bla-bla-bla

It's there. Crap. Does this happen a lot? If so I'm not going to bother with the solo mining.

Orphans happen with any coin you mine. For example, even a large pool like 1gh.com shows 3 orphans on maxcoin right now. That might change by the time you check this, but orphans are a part of mining. Remember this, any time you hit a block that becomes part of the chain, there is a good chance that someone else submitted even moments before you that eventually became orphaned. I get an orphan block with JPC about every fourth block, which is a lot higher than for some coins, but I know that lots of others are having the same thing happen, so I figure it all averages out to me getting a fair share as a percentage of the total mining hash rate in the end.

...there is one dev who is consistently cranking out new code for us without holding back...
Of course I'm talking about djm34.

      JPC: JWdVcJZdmdTdFEM1acumNQjrnrx3J7mdec

...So please join me in mining 48 hours for a great dev we owe a lot of profitability too.  Please forward any profits to the above addresses...

Carlo

So who is with me???

I just went ahead and averaged my mining over the last two weeks and sent 48 hours worth. I've only ever used cbuchner's code, but realize how important it is to say thanks.

I wonder, if I will buy one... I think I have 50w left on my psu...
However, I am still undecided because of its performance outside those specific new algos (I have the feeling, it wouldn't bring much more on top of what the 290x and the 780ti are already bringing...)
That's exactly my line of thought. I would buy 4 new Maxwell cards today IF they had an improvement on the hash rate of a 780ti. Their latest double Titan is slower than just buying two (overpriced) titans. If NVidia waits much longer the net hashrate of altcoins will make new offerings less attractive. I would buy big Maxwell cards today if they had 'em, but I might buy nothing if they wait two more months to release.
I might have paid $700+ each for 800 series cards back in March, assuming they match a 780Ti in performance, but I wouldn't even pay $300 on one now unless it doubles the 780Ti performance (I'm not holding my breath). I can't believe people are still dropping $400 for an AMD R9 290. I guess demand has returned to the domain of gamers and CG artists.

...Also I thought the risk of any kind of 51% attack was mitigated by POS? They would require a significant amount of the available coins (stake weight) in addition to controlling 51% of the network. Am I wrong?

POS blocks are not always found between POW blocks. Consider the consecutive series of blocks 571032, 571033, and 571034. All three were found a few seconds apart and by the same address (dwarfpool's JdaWQx5PCseQUB96FUZ4vALkfPYFUzVG6U). That event 10 minutes ago all by itself is already flirting with the possibility of a fork.

Looks like miners who care about the coin should be aware of this.

dwarfpool has way more than 51% of the hash (it's ranged from around 70% to 90% over the last few minutes). I'm beginning to get orphans again solo mining, which hasn't happened since "The Fork." If miners want a healthy coin, then they need to spread the hash, else this coin just becomes like a microcoin (MRC) that in its final days could only be mined on one pool. Or would the POS eventually become large enough to save it? Almost all of the last POW blocks have gone to JdaWQx5PCseQUB96FUZ4vALkfPYFUzVG6U.

So how are all my fellow JPC miners and traders doubt? It's getting far too quiet here. The rich list still seems fat at the top. Must still be plans for this coin. Would be cool to hear don the Dev

I've been solo mining with NVidia GPUs for the last two weeks with 18 Mhash/s. Found 16 blocks in 14 days. Very similar amount of coin mined as being on a pool, just a personal choice to solo. My reward/electricity ratio has hit parity, but it still seems a little better than other coins. I had been selling as I mined it, but now--because of the difficulty of getting ever smaller blocks--I have been hanging on to new mined coins for the last several days. I have a feeling that it might get more difficult to mine if it gets listed at the "where to mine" sites.

This is not an endorsement or anything, but I figure I should mention that this dev has carried through on the bounties with me, such as the logo design, even though they upgraded to other designs. I like them for their continued support and their fast, efficient algo, so I've been sticking with JPC for some time now.

I sent MRC to mintpal yesterday and today and it hasn't shown up as a deposit yet. I tried looking at the blockchain at "http://pools.animusgs.co.in/BlockCrawler/block_crawler.php" and at "http://84.251.34.142:8888/microcoin_blocks/index.php" as shown on page 1, but both seem to be down. Anyone else having problems with deposits?

Here's a logo proposal. Similar to an H for...

This coins isnt supposed to have anything in common with hypercoin..

Thank you for catching my typo, I corrected it. And just to highlight the point, this logo proposal is unique to the best of my knowledge and nothing like that other coin.
