The activity number is determined in this way: time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration activity = min(time * 14, posts)
Activity is updated every 30 minutes.
So basically the more you post and the longer you are here, the higher your activity number. In the first two weeks it cannot go above 14.

What's the difference between these two in my profile? Posts is obvious - total number of posts made on this board. What's activity though? Number of posts in a certain period of time? How is it calculated?

I'm in the same situation. Long time lurker but only now registered to get into a group buy. Waiting for the 4-hour count down timer to expire before I can post to the thread.

Re: What do you project the value of bitcoin to be December 2013 and why?

The same price it was in December 2012. The European money scare in Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain is over. The BTC bubble is over with it and the exchange rate will return to 2012 levels.

I'm interested in lower power miners like USB erupters. With difficulty rising, the calculation speed to power ratio becomes a bigger problem. Soon enough GPU's will not mine bitcoins fast enough to pay for their power usage. A falling BTC price just makes it worse.
