Kraken is getting the shout out for being the first exchange to take some serious steps towards proving their bitcoin solvency. Their solution ( https://www.kraken.com/security/audit ) is not perfect but it's better than what any other exchange has done so far. It's going to be just 2 weeks because it's not a full proof of solvency i.e. it still depends on trust to the auditor. I'm happy to promote them because based on my talk with them my subjective opinion is that they know what they are doing.
They plan to release audits quarterly. I definitely would like to see these more often, and with direct proof of control of the bitcoins. I hope this is just a first step to a better future when such proofs become a standard. But a lot of this depends on the community. You can ask your exchange to improve their transparency, and you can vote with your money.

I don't mean to bash, after all it is the best step taken so far by an exchange on par with what bitstamp did already some time ago.
But as someone pointed out on reddit these audits are not comprehensive since only BTC reserve ownership is proven and the fiat reserves are not.
And this basically invalidates the BTC audit because you could very easily turn fiat into BTC for the audit and then go back into fractional mode.
Just be careful with the votes of confidence and always do your own thinking.

No more than 3 business days in my case if I recall correctly, for sure not 1 week.

So i finally got my money back through paypal.
Like some previous posts said, if you get turned down because you missed the time window to file a claim, just call back and try to get someone else that will help you.
Explain to them that they havent shipped to anyone that ordered from them and they are most likely a fraudulent seller.
I wound up filing mine under "didnt receive goods" and still got my money back. They escalate your claim manually on the phone and then terrahash has ten days to respond. They wont of course.
Then you can watch in your resolution center from the paypal site. My claim actually went to 13 days and it still said "waiting on seller to reply." I gave paypal a call and the person that i talked to told me that they would close it and i would get my money back and an email within the next ten minutes. Two days went by with nothing changing so i called paypal again, went through the same conversation with someone else and told them about how it didnt get resolved two days before hand. They apologized and told me that they would stay on the line as they closed the claim. They did and i got 250 credited to my paypal.
The moral of the story is, paypal isnt perfect. The deterrence of escalating a claim after the time window is probably in place for good reason, but in this case we legitimately got fucked over and we need to let paypal understand it.

thanks for posting that, are you going through paypal US? did you talk to fraud or normal resolution staff? how far outside the 45day window were you?

I originally put my order through on 6/19/2013. I was one of the people that got first access to order because i had an account prior to them opening sales.
10/16/2013 is when i tried to open a case through the website, only to be closed immediately. "The claim is closed because it was opened more than 45 days after the transaction date or did not meet the filing criteria."
10/17/2013 is when i called paypal to make a claim and escalate it. I had told them that i didnt receive my product and that the seller hasnt sent anything out to anyone and it is highly likely that they are a fraudulent seller. They put my claim through and i had to wait ten days for terrahash to have a chance to respond.
10/31/2013 i called to get it closed because it had been more than ten days, only for nothing to resolve from it. Must have been a bad paypal employee or someone new or careless. Who knows.
11/2/2013 is when i called and got the refund initiated. The day later $250 was credited to my paypal account and the case was closed.
Glad to hear people are still getting their money back!

Very interesting discussion these last few posts, especially now that we are so high that a correction is ever more likely.
Perhaps things are different now vs. April but still my gut feeling is that this just sounds too good to be true (no need waste keyb strokes grilling me for posting a personal view, eh?!).

I've also been emailing the developer regarding a workaround for those who e.g. have to go to work and would like to have Butter Bot installed in two computers but actively running alternately in one of them. Running several instances simultaneously is NOT recommended!
Sharing it below until a better solution such as hosting is offered, it has been confirmed as OK by the developer.

Workaround for 2 chrome instances running Butterbot:
To be able to ensure Butterbot is running 24/7 I'll have to run it at work on one pc and then close it at the end of the day, reopening it at home on another pc.
I have butterbot installed on both Chromes (work / home) but configured with different API key/secret sets.
I will be activating/deactivating the API sets manually from the exchange dashboard (possible in Bitstamp, you would have to check the other exchanges) to have either one or the other instance of Butterbot actually actively trading, thus avoiding having them active simultaneously while being able to have both pcs on all the time with their respective Chromes and butterbot instances running.

You've been extremely correct and helpful in our communication since the GLBSE crash.
I am very happy (and suprised) that this all ended up almost without any loss for myself, mainly due to your stance.
I got my dividends already (100% since the GLBSE closure) and am really not worried about where the bonds will be listed/kept later on as you'll surely make a good decision. Count on me for future investments.
And to everyone who still didn't get their funds/bonds back... sincerely hope things work out for you.

People aren't going to try to sue nefario. What they're far more likely to do if he continues to piss them off with his "fuck you" attitude is draw his activities to the attention of the very authorities he was hoping to avoid getting scrutiny from.

You must be kidding? Misappropriation of funds is a crime and should be punished by law. Nothing to do with GLBSE beeing illegal. He just ran away with our funds. Thats how I see it.
From what I understand he passed these funds through to fraudulent asset issuers. He was just a middleman. It's a bad idea, but he didn't really profit that much himself.
I hope we can identify and pursue the asset issuers to recover the investors' money.
If he doesn't pay back a dime nefario won't get anything out of this. Perhaps a couple thousand bitcoins, but thats less than a years salary for a normal person.
