It's not going to happen before 2018. The US economy is actually doing quite well right now. I could see it happening eventually but I think you are safe with your fiat for a good while. These banks have a lot of fight in them and they're gonna do whatever it takes to keep things afloat. Greed is a powerful force.

Thank you for mining at our pool. We have stopped operating. No, we're not bankrupt. We decided to switch our reward system from PPS to something else. We have reassessed the risks associated with running a PPS reward system in regards to Withholding Attacks, and have decided we cannot manage such risk while providing a quality service at a low fee. We're working on launching a new pool with a different reward system where Witholding Attacks cannot damage the pool operator in such a direct way. For your reference, a Withholding Attack is where a malicious miner does not give the block solution when the miner finds it to prevent the pool from getting the reward, while getting paid for shares the miner submits. This kind of attach is easy to do, and it seems pool operators do it to each other to put each other out of business, or to draw miners to their own pool. We started in January 8th, and we've been lucky to have made more than we paid out throughout this learning process. We will come back in the near future with an improved version of our pool. We plan to make one for Dogecoin as well. All earnings will be paid out next hour to all those who have earned at least 0.01 ltc. Thank you for mining with us, and we hope to see you on our next pool.

Just updated a lot of UI including stats.

Lowered minimum payout to 1 ltc from 2 ltc.

Shorted the auto-pay time from to every 1 hour from 2 hours.

Happy mining!

ok thanks, what happens if you forget the payout address you registered with? How can you prove who you are?

Even if you forget the address, you will still get paid to that address.

How about hiring a developer or two to make a brand new pool? How much would that cost?

Why re-invent the wheel? There are a lot of different open source mining pools, you can install on a server.

How much would one charge to have one setup?

I'm curious how much it would cost to buy a mining pool, or have one built. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? Thanks.

Buy Existing Pool:
You could theorize how much one would cost based on their current hashing power, profit taken, and factor in some risk and general interest/return rates for similar types of investments.

Disclaimer: most of these figures are very rough ball-park numbers, I'm not attempting to accurately appraise any specific Bitcoin mining pool.

For example let's say ACME Mining Pool has around 325 TH/s power, and at current difficulty they are mining about 7 blocks a day. For the sake of simplicity, let's assume that ACME has been around awhile and has some loyal miners who are actively expanding their operations and the pool will retain it's percentage of the global hashing power even with the difficulty increasing.

25 coins * 7 blocks * 365 days = 63,875 bitcoin revenue per year.

Now remember the mining pool industry is very competitive, only a small percentage is left after paying the employees (miners).
Let's say ACME pays miners 98% of revenue, running costs are 0.25% of total revenue, leaving 1.75% for profit.

1.75% * 63,875 = 1,117.8125 annual bitcoin profit

There are many different ways to value a business. But one simple way of looking at it would be to look at interest rates where a potential buyer or the current business owner (let's say they're retiring) can earn interest on investment.

Let's say with a large investment they can net 10% annual ROI with a medium risk portfolio.

To make the same amount of bitcoin a year, by using the other investment -- they would have to invest 11,178.125 bitcoin!

I'd be interested to see what other people think of this. Criticisms welcomed.

That sounds about right. I doubt any established pool operator would want to retire/sell the business. What about just having someone setup a brand new mining pool? How much would that cost?

This is Seong Yup Yoo. Founder & developer behind NASHX. This is the fifth revision since the first revision in April. The 4th revision was well received, but had one critical problem in that you were required to risk before making an offer on NASHX. This has been changed, so that you no longer have to take any risk in making posts. So, you can now make posts, wait until someone takes your offer, then once both of you want to continue, you can risk your respective amounts, then carry on with your trade. If you don't know what's going to, see How It Works, and also read through the FAQ. I'm here to answer any questions you might have, and take your feedback. Thanks! I pray that this is the revision that will finally get NASHX up and running! So, try making a some posts for others to consider! You can trade ANYTHING for ANYTHING! Come on guys! We (the bitcoin community) really need this. I made it so I can use it. I really want to be able to use NASHX instead of MTGOX, BTC-E, Craigslist, or eBay.
