Re: I told you so...

He has some points, but there 1 problem with his reasoning; he goes on and on about miners leaving (hashrate dropping).

He does not understand network difficulty. It will go down when miners leave up to the point where it's profitable again. This has happend in 2011 too when the large crash came (and GPU miners were running below cost at $5 levels). Wish I was into the game back then...

It's a triangle of hashrate, power costs and bitcoin price.

How about being an early adopter, and selling your stash for 5$ per coin?

That is what I did. I mined 1 BTC per day, was bored with it, girlfriend was complaining about the heat of the GPU's
And sold it all.

That's even worse.

Think to yourself. If you got "in" at $5 would you have really helt it during $25? $100? Small chance.

So TLDR; you think that a collision could occur? Yes it could, but it won't.

So they are using the second/microsecond/etc as a way to encode a message? mmm did not think of that.

Will these transactions get verified? There is no fee included?

Well, in a way the intended law would affect mining - mining is "a game of luck" in a way.

I found it yesterday. Looks promising in a way - it's a good name, sleek and has a spiffy App.

I said this before: Bitcoin has a serious PR & Markting issue Sad

Don't know if this "app" will support or use Bitcoin though..

Re: Will Litecoin pass 10$ by the end of June?

History speaks for itself

We have gold and silver

We have bitcoins and litecoins

I don't follow. Gold and silver are physical items that have value that goes above and beyond what the metals themselves are worth (via jewelry and other items). You can't take a Bitcoin and twist it into a physical item that has other real-life uses. Comparing the two to each other is a little asinine.

As far as I know, silver is treated as an entirely different metal than gold is; it doesn't follow in its footsteps. Its value isn't based on what gold's is. So Litecoin, even if Bitcoin were to be "like" gold, would still not be comparable to silver.

The way BTC and LTC seem to behave is still a bit like Gold/Silver.
Not that I agree in the analogy, but silver does follow gold price in the "great contours" - when gold dips 20% silver will also do a dive. PM markets are very complex.

Re: MTGox FINALLY announces LTC!!
by

Any time frame? weeks? months?

BTC is Gox's cash cow - this move may well damage that; lets see.

Doesn't matter. When it comes it will be a godsend. Think of how many people will look at LTC at being $4 and think "this is like bitcoin years ago!". That will change everything. Imagine what LTC you buy now going up to $10, or $15. Thats an easy call, people will diversify in to LTC just for the sake of diversifying and riding the small fluctuation that Gox trading will bring it. It will also finally give us a way to arbitrage between exchanges without needing to get stuck with FIAT. It will allow us to hide our cryptocoins- trade from one to another and it will be impossible to track you through the blockchain. You coins will go into the exchange from one address and come out totally fresh and clean. We need a second cryptocurrency if only for the sake of privacy.

Not sure if you are saracastic...?

Hashing LTC?
You need to tell cgminer the --scrypt options

You are now mining BTC on the LTC shares. Not gonna work.

Clock down the memory, if it stays the mem can be damanged by heat. I could mine just fine or sometimes makes the GPU crash.
