It seems to me that Ripples or Bitcoins must be useable in the same way that credit cards are to really become mainstream.  People are more interested in their speculative value than their value as a means of transaction at this point, it seems.  There is not enough in place to purchase real goods and services.

Just hit the quote button?

I guess you mean Insert Quote.  I am a good example of why the newbie forum exists.  when I hit the insert quote button all I get is quote /quote,

but if I click insert quote on the topic summary i get "quote author=Maged link=topic=177633.msg1849972#msg1849972 date=1366080408...."

is that the typical way people get the quote attributes?

being issued by a company seems to me to be no different than creating equity to be sold on the stock market - you do well with your company and you are rewarded, as well as the early adopters.  The same seems to be true for bitcoin users.  But then again the stock market has turned into a wealth transfer mechanism and an exit strategy for private investors, so there is obvious potential for abuse....
