Re: Australia Taxation Rules
by

I submitted the required paper work to the ATO for private ruling on the 06/12/13. At some stage I will want to sell some Bitcoins and wire the money to an Australian account. It will be over  AU$10k so it will be flagged/recorded, hence I need to know how it will be viewed by the ATO. Rulings are binding for 12 months, even if other general rulings are made to cover that area after the private ruling is provided.

I want to know what my tax obligations are so I can calculate a sell price that leaves me with an acceptable figure.

I will keep this thread updated as things progress.

I'll be following this closely.

Is your request for a private ruling on mined coins or traded coins?

Is there a reason that both of my workers are reporting the same hashrate even though they are nothing alike, and my total hashrate is nothing like a) the total of my two workers, or b) my actual hashrate?

He's trying to say that while everyone is in here complaining about the problems, you're ignoring them and mining, using their hashing power to help you score. Right now, anyone who mines here is only making Phony-tic money as neither manual or auto payments are working, small or large amounts.

Yeah.... no.

If he's running a scam then he sux at it because he just sent me 30k doges yesterday...

I've given more than enough time for this to be straightened out. Looks like it's time to take matters into my own hands.

The sequence of events that is going to follow will not be pleasant.

Ahhh, this warms the cockles of my heart. Actually, not just the cockles; the whole thing.

I'm completely mind fucked. If someone did this in real life they would be sued, taken to court, and probably beat up

If not for the large expanse of ocean between him and I, much of this would have already happened.

I just checked this out. Wow. In this thread he had at least thinly veiled his accusations that I'm scamming him. In that link he just comes right out and says it. And his logic is awesome: I'm a scammer because it was the first time that I bought from him and I am from across the ocean. He should apply to Mensa.

And you guys are all obviously retards, coz apparently I'm an "obvious scammer". So don't any of you apply to Mensa.

"2. "you never sent anything to me/it never showed up" when i have delivery confirmation". He has delivery confirmation? Would be a slam dunk and shut me right up if he had said that before and produced it, don't ya think?

Then: "even with my insurance company saying "lol no thats fraud"." No, your insurance company said: "In looking at my notes, we spoke over the phone about this on 10/25/2012. At that time, I explained that the shipment exceeded your per parcel limit for USPS First Class International packages." (Paraphrase: You under-insured, you twit). That's a quote from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=149253.msg1588984#msg1588984. Can't even keep his own damn story straight.

"and i'm nice enough to VOLUNTARILY send an obvious scammer a double-shipment, just in case he ISNT full of shit. and then i get shit for it?"

If by:

VOLUNTARILY - he means "reluctantly, after being brow beaten into it by everyone in this thread"
obvious - he means "not"
get shit for it - he means "get called out for shitty customer service, then sending nothing that was ordered, packed so terribly the contents are damaged"

Then he is spot on.

And he calls me a scammy fuck. Get a mirror, dude.

Rawted, thanks for posting this. Lets me know that he knows about the destroyed crap that I received, but he hasn't bothered to respond to my email or show his face here.

shiftybugger,

what was the postmark date on the postage?

30 June, 2013

The fact that it took a month to get to you is kind of ok, but the fact that he shipped it more than a year after you ordered is epic. Is there an award for most patient customer on earth?

Ack! I suck at typing...

It was posted on 30 JULY 2013. It got to me in like a week... which is a pretty good effort. Bravo USPS. Especially since four of those days must have been wasted tumbling these in a concrete mixer...

You know what, screw it. I don't care anymore. I don't even want to wait for a reply. I don't care what he has to say.

I didn't just order plain old silver. I ordered a varied selection of coins for their numismatic value, one being a 10oz Kookaburra, along with a few bars. And I paid a premium over spot for them. The total value of which, using Coinabul's current prices is $493.50.

What I received was 19 no brand generic silver coins. (The only pic I can find that matches them is http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-OZ-BU-SILVER-BUFFALO-ROUND-999-FINE-SILVER-ONE-TROY-OUNCE-1-COIN-/390638890940 No idea who made them. They look similar to something NTR makes, but still markedly different). I can't value them at Coinabul's prices because they don't even appear on Coinabul's webiste. BUT that's largely irrelevant anyway because in the state that they are, they are worth nothing over spot ($19.74) for a total of $375.06.

They were just floating around in a large box. There was a tube in there, and a lid. The two were not connected.

At first my theory was that Customs on my end had opened the box, opened the tube to inspect, and failed to secure the cap. But that cannot be the case because:
- The outer box was completely enclosed in black packing tape, wrapped around like 10 times. The tape was not cut or peeled away in any place. The postage slips were intact over the tape. I had to nearly destroy the box to get in there. There is no way it could have been accessed in a non-destructive manner.
- Australian Customs always leaves a slip in the package to let you know that it was opened and inspected. There wasn't one.

I just don't get it. Why spend 95% of the cost to send me things that arrived in a state worth 75% of what I paid for, which because it wasn't what I ordered and is damaged, leaves me about 10% satisfied? Mind blown. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I finally got SOMETHING, but why go to the effort just to get it so, so wrong?

Pics or it didn't happen:

Imagine my delight this evening to find a package in the mail from Coinabul, albeit a bit over a year after I placed the order.

Then the disappointment as I open it to find not a single thing that I ordered inside the box. And what was in there was banged up, scratched, even cracked in places. How the hell does a coin get cracked?!

I'll email Jay yet again and wait a month for a response...

I received an email this morning advising that my package has shipped. The supplied tracking number gets no hits, but it could be too early for that.

I'm cautiously optimistic. The fat lady has not yet begun singing, but there is a chance she is in the dressing room warming up her vocal chords.

OP here. Have been away for a while but I see there has been a bit of traffic on the thread.

Still no silver, still no replies to my emails.

I have not messaged theymos. There was a mod involved in the thread earlier on, so I assumed he would already have been aware of it:
I have PM'ed Coinabul regarding this. They're a good and reputable company, and I expect this to be resolved either way amicably so hold your horses guys.
That said, I have no idea how communication between mods works around here so given a mod has now suggested it, I'll do so.

That's bullcrap. I negged him on June 12. If it doesn't show up when someone else looks at it, what's the point of the system?

Edit: Message sent to theymos.

Wouldn't adding negative trust (here) address this (albeit as a temporary measure)?  He still won't have a scammer tag but it'll put a big red flag in his trust profile.  (I appreciate this is a fairly new feature, but I still don't see any red flags anywhere... )

Thanks. I've remedied that situation.

Still nothing by the way, for those still watching at home.

Have you gotten your money back this thread is months old now?

No I haven't. Nor have I received any response to emails or PMs sent asking for an update.

Last I heard from them was a few days after Jay's post on page 10 where he stated that I didn't need to do anything but sit tight and wait. And it seems that's pretty much all I can do now.

Have you messaged theymos about this issue yet? He honestly might not even be aware of this thread.

No I haven't yet. I was waiting for... I dunno what.

This is now beyond ludicrous. It has now been 2 months since Jay promised to replace my order, and 9.5 months since I placed the original order. I don't think he ever had any intention of replacing my silver.

Why he doesn't have a scammer tag I have no idea.

I've emailed several time and have received no response. The one contact that I had from him in the last 2 months was an email in response to a forum PM, chiding me for using PMs and stating that I should 'use proper communication channels'. Fat lot of good 'proper communication channels' have been. I'm going to have to resort to another PM.

Still waiting for any information at all on my March 14th order.

That must be the day for it. It was March 14 when Jay posted that he'd replace my silver. Still nothing.

I've sent another email for info.

Lets get back on topic. What is the current status, and proof of either side being right or wrong?

Current status: Jay offered to replace my silver a bit over a month ago. Still waiting.
