Thanks for the honest replies. Appreciate the facts. I'll think about a small basic mining rig (Celeron and RX480/580).

Mining small cap alts on MacBook Pro 13 2016?

I know the specs suck for mining, which is why I'm asking about mining small coins. I know back in 2009/10 you could mine a few Bitcoins per day with a average PC. I'm looking to do the same for fairly new coins now, in the hope that they will be worth a bit more in the future, and if they don't then no loss.

What's some good coins for this, where I can mine a few whole coins a day and which have a fairly small market can. I have a MacBook Pro 2016 non-touchbar version (2.0GHz (3.1GHz boost) i5 6360U, Iris 540 graphics). And how do I get started?

Thanks.

While it may sound like nothing, I plan to buy 10 coins with $100 and lock it up for a year.

Early this year, around Jan to March, Verge was trading at about $0.00002. Before todays crash/correction, it was at $0.15. If I had $10 of Verge then, and sold it at it's high a week or so ago, I'd have $75,000. To give an idea, Verge was #171 in terms of market cap.

I don't think the days of 10,000x gains are over. The so called lambo dream is still achievable.

With that in mind, what are your picks for 10,000x gains in 2018?

A proper thread on 100x small cap altcoins for 2018 (considering coin supply!)

What are your predictions for 2018 for alts which you believe will return 100x.

Bear in mind the circulating supply! Lots of comments on here focus to much on coin price, and not circulating supply. So of course if supply is high, coin value is lower. Take Ripple [XRP] for example; currently it's at $0.77, BUT its supply is 39 billion (Bitcoin's current supply is 17 million). Therefore, if you just looked at Ripple's coin price you might say 'wow, that's so cheap'- it's not (might be though!). A 100x increase in Ripple relative to BTC would put it 10x the market cap of BTC which I don't think is likely.

With that said, here are my top contenders for 2018 in no particular order: Phore [PHR], WeTrust [TRST], DeepOnion [ONION].

Yours?

Trading techniques/advice from those who are make a living from it

Youtube is full of trading techniques for BTC and alts, many of them seem well researched but I don't know if they actually make good money from it. I read advice that ranges from using just technical analysis to advice that says the best traders only use price action and volume as all technical analysis is just past trends.

In the same way that I would not take bodybuilding advice from someone who was 5'11" and 160 lbs, despite how well researched they are, I would not like to take advice on trading from someone who hasn't actually been able to make it profitable to the point that they can live off their earnings. For that reason, to those who are doing well in trading, what advice and techniques could you give? Hopefully this thread can bring about a good deal of advice that is proven!

Thanks.
