Re: BiblePay | 10% to Orphan-Charity | RANDOMX MINING | Sanctuaries (Masternodes)

Two more questions Smiley I am running 2 Win10 machines without GPU's. Each machine has installed the BBP wallet and the BOINC client. I am receiving regular PODC rewards but several days ago both wallets stopped mining (0% CPU activity and no rewards in 8 days). Here is the config file for the 1st machine:

addnode=explorer.biblepay.org

genproclimit=2

gen=1

externalpurse=BQ5epKDHsp9AWjVgRYd9ZysQa7g75ve539

externalprivkeyBQ5epKDH=[my_private_key]

externalpubkeyBQ5epKDH=BQ5epKDHsp9AWjVgRYd9ZysQa7g75ve539

1. Is the config file okay?

2. Should the config file for the wallet on the 2nd machine be identical (for PODC purposes) or reflect the CPK of that wallet?

Thanks!

Your config file allocates 2 threads to RandomX mining; was that intentional? Considering in-wallet mining is not efficient for RandomX, I would not allocate any threads to heat mining at all (i.e., use that power towards PODC instead)

In any case, you do not have to run multiple copies of the wallet for PODC mining - it actually complicates the matters. You do not even have to keep a single wallet open 7/24 - all you need is a stake-confirming transmission made once a day. You can do that by firing up the wallet, letting it sync, then manually perform "sendgscc wcg" in the console, and shut down the wallet.

You need to make sure your stake (collateral) matching or exceeding the required coin-age for your RAC is present in your CPK address.

Could you please check:

1. Stake requirement met in the CPK address
2. GSC transmissions made from your wallet in the last 8 days

Hi Rob,

Is it possible to sort the output of "block history" on the pool such that it shows the latest blocks found first? Already having to scroll to check latest, I can't imagine when we grow Smiley

I'm looking for a few testers that can help work out the bugs in the next randomx pool.

Could you please point a few to:

foundation.biblepay.org:3001

The getting started instructions can be found in the pool at:

https://foundation.biblepay.org
Click Pool

Unfortunately I have to step out for a meeting, but you can probably figure it out.  Ill be back to help debug in a few hours.

Note:  You don't need to log in, this pool works the same as nomp does, anonymous users are welcome to mine.
Note 2:  Theoretically you will get paid even during testing because we are already logging the shares.

Hello,

You seem to be OK in terms of setup and collateral. Your wallet sent a GSC transmission today (@block 185424), which will be recorded in the next superblock (block 185545, today). That reward will be paid on the following superblock (block 185750, tomorrow). There is such a delay of up to 48 hours at the beginning; but you should get a daily reward from then on.

Please make sure you send out a GSC transmission every day; by either leaving your wallet open or manually typing "sendgscc wcg" once a day.

Same here, must be a glitch with the BBP daemon. Will come back up soon. Solo miners, enjoy this brief session of luck Smiley

Quick question about the CPK.  As I get more funds into my BBP wallet, do I have to occasionally send more funds to my CPK for them to be counted towards my coin age?  Thanks!

Coin-age is required only if you are doing PoDC (Boinc). I assume you are doing that; so you are correct, only funds in the CPK address count towards PoDC coin-age.

Having said that, there is no reason to keep increasing your coins in the CPK address unless you are running short on collateral for PoDC (i.e., increasing RAC).

Hello everyone what command should I run to prevent new tasks from being accepted on Linux
boinccmd -- ?

Hi there,

If you want to continue working on existing tasks, but want no more new tasks downloaded, then type:

boinccmd --project http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org nomorework

You can find this and all other commands here:

Just received this message when I did an exec rac:

"Error": "Your CPID is linked to your CPK, but we are unable to find your research records in WCG; most likely because you are not in team BiblePay yet.",

I've been doing just fine over the last several days without being in team Biblepay.  Was the team restriction changed again?  Thanks!

Team restriction or any other rule has not changed afaik - I am on team Biblepay and I am gettting the same error today.

So I've been thinking about another potential possibility for our next replacement POBH miner for heat mining.
I'm thinking of possibly using RandomX as our next POW algo and creating compatibility in BBP for merge mining XMR from BBP.

(Up til today, I was primarily considering a new POW protocol that would do some type of useful work, until the idea was considered, that the useful work might be the *mining revenue* from XMR - where miners could earn the electricity from (XMR) but still fully secure the chain with randomx).  This idea made me think of the benefits of less sell pressure and more income for the miners.

Im also thinking it would open up the possibility of all XMR users to have a desire to mine and be exposed to BBP.

The way it would work is this (potentially):
- BBP adopts RandomX as its core hash algorithm
- BBP creates a new pool that is both RandomX, Monero, and BBP compatible
- Miners mine BBP with RandomX as full fledged CPU miners with more arguments in the miner (IE multiple receive addresses)
- The pool has the capability to forward 100% of the solutions into Monero using the miners supplied monero address

I've been evaluating this today, and it appears to be 100% efficient (another words, it would not be as if you are merge mining and switching between protocols with inefficient losses).

Basically, the pool miner would win the XMR round anytime the miners difficulty is below the pool target, but for every XMR hash, we would test for an equal BBP solution like this:
must equal X11(PrevBlockHash + RandomXHash) < BBP_DIFF, plus block.RandomXsource must match RandomX hash (ensuring our prevBlockHash is the one in the round), and, the core wallet ensures this randomX set meets the difficulty of the BBP block.  This basically means it would be possible for BBP miners to earn 100% of the revenue from randomx hashes, while still hashing BBP with an equal chance of solving the current BBP block using the same spent hashpower for the current hash minus a tiny bit of overhead (for checking each one, which I assume to be 10% or less).

Some of the potential upsides I see to this:
- More BBP exposure
- More Revenue for the miners
- Less sell pressure
- Monero users get exposed to BBP and the gospel

I thought I would throw this out there, so if anyone has any downsides or questions please pose them.  In the mean time, Ill do some thorough investigation and consider making a proof of concept for this to ensure this is feasible.

From the high level, it appears to be a good solution for us on the heat side.  We would of course make the POBH verses compatible and keep the bible in, for biblical reference.

Wow - by far the most exciting idea I heard over here for a while !
Double-sided exposure on the latest cpu-favoring algo around, and more income for miners - simply great.
I have played with randomx for a bit, and it definitely puts less stress on the cpus since it typically uses half (or less than half) of the possible threads. Less heat produced = less energy wasted.

There is one risk I see, though. Merge mining tends to create sell pressure on one of the coins in the pair - if miners would rather hodl the other one (that is, if they are hodling at all). You can check out the case of LOKI and TURTLECOIN; they recently abandoned the merged mining option. The only precaution I can think of is introducing some sort of ABN requirement (perhaps even dynamically changing as diff changes) to make sure some BBP has to be locked in. Oh, that would also deter possible botnets??

You have to send the funds to your CPK (as that is your external purse address), and that will let the (sendgscc) process succeed even if the wallet is locked.
(exec rac pulls its values from the CPK balance btw).

We no longer source the sendgscc funds from the main wallet.

The stake is returned to your CPK as you spend it (it spends it back to itself) and breaks it into 10 pieces of change.

Is there a way to recover the funds from the cpk and put them back into the main wallet?  Thanks!

Certainly, just open the "send" tab and select any or all of the coins listed in your CPK address and then send them to any one of your receiving addresses in the same wallet.

PoDC 2.0 payment issues from Dec 25, 2019 to Jan 16, 2020, I've identified 518,639 BBP (122 line items) that are candidates for reimbursement.

Option 1: Shall I submit sanctuary proposals for each CPK, detailing the payouts?
Option 2: Send me 518,639 BBP and I'll distribute it, with documentation. BKdkszSubBe9cNurd2LoBjPuaFhTL7utYw
Option 3: There's 146k BBP in the bounty wallet I can use. Remainder 372,639 BKdkszSubBe9cNurd2LoBjPuaFhTL7utYw

Full details and methodology is available to anyone wanting to review out of curiosity or validate my work.

Based on the payout each day, I created median value of BBP to RAC ratio per day. This is the multiplier I used based on the RAC of the cpid I retrieved from boincstats (same as WCG). If the CPK was overpaid overall (total payments equal more than 110% of estimated payments) then there is no reimbursement for that CPK since they received more already.

Some caveats in my analysis:
* the RAC to BBP multiplier is best effort and not always best value. If a RAC whale was underpaid, this can throw off the ratio
* GSC payments are lumped into one (PoDC, Healing, POOM, etc) making it difficult to separate out non-PODC payment without performing more analysis. I looked at leaderboard but some prominence seems to be current day not on gsc block day?
* I counted the BBP balance of the CPK when the GSC reward was transmitted. If their balance had enough stake based on the team they were on (BBP = ^1.3 and non-BBP = ^1.6), then I assumed they had enough stake. I realize balance may not reflect full coin age transmission.
* Some small incidents where the GSC transmission was not sent for the CPK automatically using RAC & BBP balance day of was the best way to be inclusive
* Since the code did not offer partial payments, I did not adjust for this and respected what the code was written to do

I sent you 518,640 from my wallet, please distribute it any way you want, and thank you for taking on this endeavor.

Thank you guys!

I had missed a payment or two, but the focus on fairness and the effort put into correction is much more valuable than the compensation itself.

Sun, if you can come up with a tipping bot on Discord, I will be the first to chip in - I know you will use it for a good cause Smiley

But we can't upgrade from 1.4.8.5 ?

From what I understand we already released the binaries, could you please ensure you are running the right bitness?  If not please post the URL and platform-bitness?
Im running windows 64 here and Im on 1487.  I never uninstall the old version; I just install the latest and it works.

Hi Rob,

I joined the PoDC leaderboard informatoin with the WCG stats and team files. Except for pollux and barton26 that are in team GridCoin, everyone else is on BiblePay. I've calculated stake requirements based on actual RAC from WCG. And also provided a column for variance. I'll do some more analysis, but the issue seems to be only affected me the worst, but a few other people. I'm going to see if user creation date or any other things from the WCG file makes sense.

Hi,
I've installed latest windows wallet 1.4.8.5
I don't see "Sanctuary" in the left menu.
I see "Decentralized Web", while clicking on it - wallet crash.

Is it only my problem ?

Did you try checking the box at Settings > Options > Wallet > "Show Sanctuaries Tab" ?

Please note you will need to restart the wallet after that.

I am not on team BiblePay. According to the documentation I do not have to be. Is this accurate or is it limited to team BiblePay and Gridcoin?

Quote
PART C: Join Team BiblePay
NOTE: You do not need to join Team BiblePay to get rewards, but there is a large benefit to doing so

1. Login to World Community Grid website and Click "Team BiblePay" link below

https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=JRD1XTFK92

2. Click "Join Team"
https://wiki.biblepay.org/PODC_Setup

I can see that I have now sent out 3 GSC transmissions in the wallet but have not received any payouts for contributions to WCG. Before asking, I have contributed to WCG non-stop for 12 years. My RAC is fully established by now. I am aware that coin age may be a factor, but wasn't sure if that is the case since the reply mentioned not being part of the team. I will also add that I do allow stats exporting.

1) Strictly on the part about the 'exec rac' switching from the 37Mil requirement over to 'not being linked', that is a bug in this first version, but note, its not the kind of bug affecting PODC or payments (its a client glitch on the display purposes only).  You can get around it by rebooting the client or waiting four hours (then exec rac will work again).  Im trying to get that fixed as a leisure asap.

2)  So Im looking at your coinage reqs.  Since you arent on team bbp, thats why the req is so high (37 mil).  Yes, we are supposed to put you in the leaderboard with a commensurate low reward, but I see we have a minimum threshhold (I honestly dont remember doing that, but for now we have it because its the consensus for the sancs).  So here is how the two step phase works:  On Non-Team BBP, we check your req, and 54000 rac reqs 37Mil in coin-age.  Then we reduce your minimum RAC req (after we see you didnt make it), to 4368 RAC.  Then we see if you have a coin age of 667,501 BBP (but you didnt meet that), so that explains why you are not in the leaderboard.  Note, that if you send out a GSC, you will show up in the leaderboard in about 5-7 blocks, as long as you satisfy the req.  So if possible, if you join team BBP, what would happen is the req would drop to 53.9K for 4368 (after missing the first) and you would be in the leaderboard.  This also explains why you have not received podc rewards (you must be in the leaderboard to get podc rewards).

OK, so since I won't switch teams (as I am a team captain) then my only option is to set up an Exchange account and purchase more Biblepay to meet the minimum requirements which isn't going to happen either. I don't trust the current exchanges. So, I guess what I need to know now is how to turn off PoDC so that I'm not wasting my BBP with GSC transmissions that won't ever pan out a return. I also see this as an issue that will most likely occur with many BOINC contributors that may be tempted to create wallets. It should also be explained better in the wiki as this seems to be a "dead zone" of sorts.

Also, since there is no Android (or mobile) work to crunch at WCG right now (for a few months now actually) and no ETA on when it will return (scientists have not said when SCC will have work again and WCG has no official plans for Android work on the other sub projects) then isn't it a moot point right now to have a low RAC stipulation for unbanked? Maybe a note needs added to the wiki for this as well.

Oh, I see an opportunity here when you mention exchanges and trust. (I find myself in the same spot usually)
Rob has in his ideas bucket the potential of using BBP for cross-chain trading - Why don't we make it possible so people can acquire BBP without the need for exchanges? A blockchain-based escrow or a conversion bot, perhaps?

Coin age is not the same as BiblePay total. So 1 BBP in your wallet untouched for 3 days is 3 days worth of coin age. At least that is how I understand it. And yes this is an issue for DC'ers and requiring such an up front amount to get started. I am not a large DC'er and I don't have the amount needed as I only have a little over 100k BBP total to work with.

Hi there!

I believe you need to pass the minimum stake to go into the leaderboard, regardless of the team. It was something like 5% ? Assuming it is 5%, you would need 1.8M BBP or so in the CPK address.

we missed the thor challenge 2019 for BOINC crunchers.

OByte and Gridcoin were the two top crunchers.

When BiblePay was involved, 616 did a great job crunching. It was very difficult to match the work units processed by OByte team. Still, it was good marketing for BiblePay to be in the top 5.

I agree it is good marketing, at least in the scientific community, when your team is among top 3.

I am not sure that would happen to BiblePay, if team Gridcoin is whitelisted under PoDC 2.0. Gridcoiners will simply stake to get BBP, and WCG points will go to team GRC.

So although I don't expect PODC2.0 to solve all of our problems, as supporting Cancer Mining is going to be a lot of work, we are going to try to make big improvements over podc 1.0 (using the knowledge we've learned up til now) before releasing 2.0.

We need to make 2.0 more like the iPhone:  Easy to setup, easy to understand, easy to maintain.  The defaults should work.

Some of the pitfalls we had before:  Daily podcupdates required, meaning the core wallet had to be running, had to unlock wallets to send podc updates, had to have funds available for the CPID association, had to understand all the terminology, etc.

Last night I started working on something called an "external PODC purse".  This will allow a user to store a balance in an external purse.  Then PODC will be able to fund the association, and the daily updates (for both PODC & Cameroon one) through this purse, so you will no longer have to have the wallet unlocked.  Ive been waiting for this myself as I dont know how many times I booted biblepay and never unlocked the wallet, and lost the rewards for the day (probably 50% of the time) etc.  So this works in alpha now, so this will be coming.  You will basically type a command to join Cancer mining (or WCG, TBD), and we will make an external purse for you, IE an adddress called "PODC", and you will fund it with 1000 bbp.  Then we will associate your cpid to that address.  Later, we will ensure the updates are sent from the main thread (and no longer from the miner) and they will only cost about .25 bbp max (for tx fees) and they will send even when wallets are locked.  Then in a few years you can fund the purse using a special command.  This should cut down on support issues.

One volunteer helper I could use -- do we have a volunteer who wants to make a biblepay CPID stats website?  One that does something like pull the data from the core wallet via rpc commands, and cache it, and show RAC per CPID per day and a graph?  (Something that will cut down on support questions from new users).  I will gladly give you a subdomain of biblepay.org if you want to take this on.  This will allow me to focus on working on the Data, and the RPC commands, and someone else can focus on UI for ease of use?  (On a side note -- I can manage pulling in our prior core wallet cpid association page again from biblepay-classic -- asap).

Also, I will ensure we make the CPID data display in the rpc more user friendly this time.

Im also thinking since we will no longer require the 'bbp for rac' rule or escrow reqs anymore, therefore we can streamline things a little more, meaning boinc can keep crunching on phones or on cpus for days, and if you dont check in for 7 days you should still receive 7 rewards automatically in your locked (and non-running) wallet.

Basically we need a plug-n-play environment for PODC 2.0.

Hi Rob,

Are you sure you want to switch back to PoDC with NO collateral requirement? Locking some coins away would be beneficial for supporting the price level and raising the barrier against a giant-cruncher (call it botnet) domination.
