Nice. I'm running 3 of them 24x7 but at lower frequency and voltage.  What controller are you using, RPi, PC, Linux machine, etc?

Another NOOB question:  Is it a bad idea to adjust voltage on R606 while it's mining or does it matter at all?  Is there a best practice procedure when adjusting the voltage setting on the R606?  For example, if I want to test out different voltage settings, should I shut down cgminer first, then set the voltage, then restart cgminer?  I just want to reduce any chance of damaging the hardware.

Thanks in advance.

Controller is an old Dell 755 running Debian 7. Hub is GekkoScience, and it and all six pods were powered off the same DPS1200. Everything stock, no additional fans, volt setting 7.

Cool thanks. I'm doing mostly the same except using Windows, and the default voltage. I might try using linux on a non-Rpi machine to see if it changes anything (already tried Raspbian but couldn't hash as fast as my Win10 PC) .

Also, looks like I was mistaken about how many - or more specifically, the total expected hashrate - which can be run off one hub. Looks like frames to the hub can combine multiple device frames, and one frame can hold six work packets, so the peak theoretical hashrate for hub'd miners would be six times the peak theoretical for a single connection, or roughly 15TH.

Of course I'll be testing this as soon as I have enough devices. And then I'm gonna giggle like a little girl and post awesome screenshots.

Until then, y'all will have to be satisfied with this magnificent six-hour runtime of six pods on one GekkoScience Base Hub and powered by a GekkoScience DPS1200 PSU kit.

https://oi648.photobucket.com/albums/uu202/sidehack128/tester-3-volt-7-six-pods.png

I know this is an old post, but wanted to ask sidehack about your setup for this.  Did you use just one PSU to power all 6 pods plus the USB hub?  What controller did you use? (Rpi, PC,  something else?).
Finally, it looks like you targeted 900Mhz on all devices, and I am guessing you maxed out the voltage settings too?  Did you have any extra fans or cooling ?  Anything special I should know about cabling?

Just asking because I'm still a noob, and I want to compare what I'm doing with what seems an optimal setup.

thanks in advance!

Regarding ASIC Boost, when I run cgminer, I always specify "lowboost" anyway (cause I use Windows), even when going through a pool, so are you positive that's the biggest factor?  I should probably test it with no-boost.

Noob question:

If I solo mine my R606 to solo.ckpool.org, I generally get around 900Gh/s.

If I solo mine to my own bitcoind node (http://localhost:8332) I only get around 730 Gh/s.

Does anyone know why?  Is the code in cgminer that optimizes R606 only working when used with a pool or something?

⭐ Merited by vapourminer (1)
If they are all linked to the same pc then a single instance of cgminer will pick them all up. However it will try to run them all at the frequency you set it to, which can be problematic if you have a unit thats not as fast as the others. But a single instance for each one means you can tweak them individually to get the best performance from each.

cool thanks gt_addict.  I found this interesting post as well, where morlok8k talks about using the serial numbers as a means to configure different frequencies (I think): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.360

Zimbacard, just saw your post mentioning the same!

Noob question: If I have 3 x R606 miners, do I need to run 3 instances of cgminer? Or is there a way to run just one instance of cgminer and control all 3 miners?

You won I sent you a pm.
Send me a pm with your mailing address and proof you purchased 1 unit or more of r606 and I will mail the stick out today.

Thanks !

I sent u a PM.

I have a total noob question: How do you see who found a block? (ie xtremaxs). Do you have to register with kano.is in order to see that info?  Is it in the logging of cgminer, or is it on a webpage ?
If you login this page https://kano.is/index.php?k=blocks shows who found the block as well as the info you can see while not signed in.

Thanks. I hadn't tried registering yet, but that makes sense.

Thanks for the tip. I'm running with the gekko-lowboost switch now and I do believe it's running more efficiently, and it has not plateaued after an hour of running, whereas previously it would auto-retarget a lower frequency by this point.  I'll re-run several tests with this setting and see where it goes.

Total NOOB question here:

What are the factors that cause frequency to be adjusted down?

Setup: R606 running through Win10, powered by GekkoScience DPS1200 PSU.  My PC is quite powerful with an i7 3.4GHz quad-core CPU and 32 Gigs of RAM.
Settings: Voltage setting 5, and I set --gekko-r606-freq 643
Results: I'm getting about 840-850 Gh/s on average.

If I try to increase frequency to 750 or higher, it seems to auto-adjust down to something below 700 most of the time. I've tried various voltage combinations.

I'm trying to see if I can get it to 1 Th/s average like some others have. Would using a Linux controller make a difference? Is the USB interface on my PC the weak link?

I'm new to mining, and still trying to learn the basics of the electronics.

I'm a noob here.  Can I be added to this drawing if it's not too late? I bought a R606 from 419mining. Does that count?

I can send you proof if needed.
