Re: An ideal crypto portfolio
by

an ideal portfolio should include 10 -30% cash or usdt as many may be trading from time to time in various exchange

I would like to see what is your idea of an ideal cryptofolio, to see what people use to prefer and which direction trends the market.

Imagining to have 10k USD/EUR, how would you split your portfolio and why?

Here is mine. Yesterday evening I made a fake portfolio setup with the following values. My purpose is to be a long term holder, my first goal is a 2.5x before end of 2017, and a 5-8x before June 2018. A 10x before end 2018 is also expected.

The main goal is 300-400k in 2020.

And here it is how I would divide it:
http://oi64.tinypic.com/1zbv4nd.jpg

So why I shared like this?

30.2% in Bitcoin is mandatory for who has a good capital to invest in crypto. The only game changer atm, the most known, the most solid one, it will be gold in the future.
15.6% in Waves, medium risk, but if it succeed (and it has some good characteristics to do it), it may be big.

(And we are already almost at 50% just with these two coins).

7.5% in DASH. If BTC will be gold, Dash will be USD of cryptos.

9% in Ripple. Do not really like the centralized nature of this coin, but banks have trilions and even if the MCP is 100B units, a 5x in 3 years is more then expectable. Will cover some of the crypto in which I invested who will not rise. Because some of the following are just good projects, but just in paper and who knows how many of these people will scam exit in the end.

3% Litecoin. Good to always have some silver. May be a 6-7x in 3 years.

4.6% in LISK and 4.5% in its fork ARK. Almost a 10% for a good project. Gambling. Easily a 50x if it succeed.

3.5% in NEO, I would also consider more, but this historical moment is not the best one to buy this because we do not know yet how China will regulate the market. Expectable a +200% or a -95% in 3 years. BIG GAMBLING but good to have some IMO.

7.3% in Stratis. In the paper it's a really good project, if it will make all his steps it is going to rise for sure.

4% in Monero. It will make some good profit. 15x is expectable. Going to be adopted by all the anonimous around the world Cheesy

6.8% in QTUM. Main net ready, pretty cool project. Easily a good giver.

5.1% in Golem. I love this project, if this worldwide CPU rent will be used and it will be used in the right way, it is going to help mankind. Maths, medicine, everything. If it will be used as it would I expect even a 100x.

So that's the fake 10k EUR portfolio I created yesterday evening (alread in loss  Cheesy)

Curious to know, how would you do it?

Re: Help in understanding academic Bitcoin Paper in Conference/Journal

if we can get approval for a sub-forum
Bitcoin Forum > Bitcoin > Development & Technical Discussion > Academic Paper>
Then I volunteered to be the moderator.
The title of each topic must start with the exact name of the published paper to enable quick search.  "Unpublished work" I think better send to conference for expert review or other sub-forum.

E.g. CoinShuffle: Practical Decentralized Coin Mixing for Bitcoin
Followed by author name etc.

Limitation: Discussion is limited /related to the title of the paper only. Unrelated comment may be deleted.

target for reader/audience: When they read the comment given by the topic,  they can speed up their understand on a particular paper.

In this way, audience and find out each academic contribution and how is it related to bitcoin/altcoin implementation or proposal.

A sub forum for academia is a really good idea, especially if it doesn't exclude non-engineering types, I suspect your desire is for technical aspects of whitepapers be broken down for layman consumption.

Think you might find more than a few people would be suportive of that idea, but you might have trouble finding the balance between toning down on technical complexity and simple comprehension, while maintaining quality.

TQ for your supports.
technical details on white paper is ok , I still can digest. But those paper in journal + conference, paper published . hell difficult to understand.
when they start with section 3, how their protocol work. etc. Things start to be exponentially difficult.

1st desire: make search more easy. Search by paper Title or White Paper Title:
all topic related to that paper is discussed. Currently, we have to spend time searching from forum to forum, posting to posting.

2nd desire: Many may have already read some specific papers and can comment directly here without searching elsewhere. Put a system in place.

3rd: Author who want more citation can explain their paper better, argue their dispute, clarify doubts in their paper in a sub forum "If and only if " such facility is available.

4th: I understand not many audience other than academician cause many people simply disinterested in complex things.

lastly : my maths sucks.! I already spend much time patching it up, we spend more time on it. SOme paper are so dense with information, making it hard to digest.

great! I wait for your reply. if no reply, i will pester you in few month time again.
I think we need to put some structure in place in this forum so that it can be easily search.

in this way, at least 1/2 of the work is done. I will upload all my write-up result from my understanding of each paper I have read.
Whether there is any reply for each paper read is does not matter, at least people can search the paper title and read the easily written narrative. In long run, researcher who read research paper will comment on it directly.

Hi,
There are many academic paper available for Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency in Conference and Journal. However, when I read those papers it takes days and weeks to understand what the author trying to convey and only about 10 - 20% of those paper one can refer to youtube presentation. If we look at citation index on some paper we see wow! 100+ . I sure many researcher have read it but there is no sub-forum for this.
Most of the technical details especially academy details are scattered here and there in this bitcointalk.org.

I would like to ask is there any discussion forum /website for these whether student can ask question on specific papers. Is it possible to create one sub forum just for these. This may also lead to a more focus discussion among the academician.
example posting.

Title:"Title of the paper"
Content: What problem it trying to solve?
Solution:
Pending Problem:
Remarks:

It really pain in the ash reading tons of paper alone.
I 'm looking for collaborative effort in understanding some key papers.
some author are too busy with their work normally may only give a brief respond to queries for their paper.

I don't anticipate this ICO going past Round 1, or if it doesn then round 2 will be for such a negligible amount that will get taken up instantly. Looking forward to this ICO & really hope I can be one of the lucky 25k, but knowing my luck I won't be  Tongue

till now I was lucky with both RPX and TKY, hopefully I am gonna get into the lottery..
the lottery page https://neonexchange.org/lottery/ does not seems to work

NEO officially asking for private keys? is it some phishing site?scam or official?

https://neo.org/giveback/ico2

its the official site. i dont know what they want to do but something like a second ico for sponsors? but for what they want a priv key?

one thought, may be their website / web server is hacked, and hacker cleverly put it there ;-)
let's see what does someone from NEO team has to say for this
Any thoughts and official answer/blogposts from NEO team?
any discord/telegram/slack active community for NEO?
i also want to know why they want our private key?they should want our address about giveback.

Very strange, as they always urge everyone not to send private keys to anyone...

yes, the original address for the ICO should suffice ...

No because you would not be able to prove that you are in control of that address, with a private key you can. I'm just assuming the initial ICO wallet did have no other functionality than storing the ICO coins and sending them through to the actual antshares-gui wallet. So it does not matter to give this private key to the NEO organisation, to receive the giveback, if you are not actively using this ICO wallet/private key anymore.

Otherwise anyone could just sign up a random ICO wallet address and say that they want to receive the giveback for the 300 BTC of Antshares that they bought in ICO and receive a free giveback without actually ever having bought any.
It should be provided by the wallet software. NEO wallet where  they can sign certain message (ICO address) with their private key and then submit as ICO proof. That will be a better way to implement rather than having people enter their private key into a website.

Well, when U see this . you should be smart enough to transfer out every NEO from you ICO address to another address before you enter the private key to the website for the ICO give back.

It seems that binance have problem with their 2FA, many people account is locked for weeks without respond from binance.
https://www.reddit.com/r/binance/comments/7iceev/attention_issues_with_2fa_please_read/#bottom-comments

many more complaints.

I use Binance, I like it and I think BNB is a great idea.

I do wonder how Binance will handle increase volume and what is stopping them packing up shop and disappearing with all the loot.  Yes, I know don't keep your coins on an exchange, but anyone who is trading even a bit does keep a little on as makes it easier.

Binance is increasing its reputation. I started using Binance in a big way. For BNB I have a high price expectation. Still at levels suitable for harvesting. I guess I'll make small purchases.

many people complaint they got lock out from 2FA from binance and money is locked with no customer support for long time. Anyone have similar experience.

How to know the actual transaction in NEO blockchain?
You see in order to claim your gas, you need to make some NEO tx.
Thus, most of the tx is made so that gas can be claimed. How to know what % is it ? For me almost 100% of my neo tx is to enable me to claim gas.
Let said , if we deduct all these transactions what will be the actual tx in NEO blockchain? The system itself make it difficult for me to quantify the actual use case other than gas claim.
let me know if i have missed out anything.

China Never Went Anywhere, Contrary to Misconception
by NEO2MOON

I keep seeing comments: "if only China would come back" "if only China would get on board" "once china comes back online". It baffles my mind because China never went anywhere. Onchain and NEO are expanding in China and world-wide and if anything China is extending its arm more than most other nations to date with strong encouragement of blockchain development and infrastructure. All China did was shut down traditional exchages so that grandma doesnt liquidate her retirement savings and invest in Bitconnect or 500 other scam ICOs. While many experts have voiced that they see this as a pause until regulations are solidified, the ecosystem has been and will continue to move forward regardless of the exchange situation.
A few notes: - China is encoraging blockchain development more than perhaps any other country. They are even developing their own digitized yuan to be compatable with the digital/smart economy
ICO/project funding in china is legal but you have to be an accredited investor
ICOs can be launched but funding must be international if the funds are raised by the general public (there is plenty of international funds)
P2P crypto trading is alive and legal in China and exchanges are now building for that model.
NEO, the platform, is moving forward inside China and outside of China regardless of what happened to the traditional exchages.
After the "crack down" - which is a restriction on broad ICO funding and trading, not NEO, the following has been launched or in progress:
Red Pulse (RPX) sucessfully launched their ICO and raised the full amount sought.
Loopring partnership (being modified to run on NEO, Da Hongfei is an advisor) (decentralized automated execution system that trades across crypto exchanges but protects against counterparty risk, namely transferring tokens to exchanges and the exchange going down or freezing your funds)
NEX - the CoZ developed platform for decentralized trade and payment service creation was announced
Qlink announced it will utilize the NEO network and register assets on the NEO chain. Qlink is a wireless telecommunications service with millions of existing customers
Elastos partnership - Blockchain powered internet. Elastos is the world's first Internet operating system that uses the Internet as the base-layer infrastructure rather than an application.
THEKEY, probably one of the most significant projects in crypto chose NEO as their platform and will have an ICO. This project revolves around digital identity through medical registration and has formed agreements/official recognition with many jurisdictions within China (AMA this week). See whitepaper for a description that does this project justice.
Aphellion P2P decentralized exchange ICO was announced (jury is out on this one)
Fosun Group (one of Chinas largest conglomerates) agreed to fund Onchain
Onchain developing proof of concept for CSD (China securities clearinghouse) and other branches such as big data/identity
More than 30 dApps are in development
New great looking and polished wallets are coming online like "Morpheus" + Ledger Nano
NEO Council agreed to a 5 year funding plan for CoZ (32 official members to date and growing)
NEO Council has been traveling all around the world (mostly asia region) and building connections and introducing NEO development training.
More than what is listed above has been accomplished but these are some of the highlights. I think this is fairly obvious to most, but for for those with any doubt - the NEO global ecosystem is alive and growing inside and outside of China!

"NEO Sponsor Giveback Plan" Announcement

Author chris@neo.org posted on 10/30/2017

Dear contributors and supporters of NEO community,
First, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to your continuous contributions and support to NEO! NEO MainNet has been in sound operation for over 1 year.
As of today, there are more than 90,000 NEO holders and over 76,000 NeoGas holders. As NEO smart economy gradually establishes itself as a well-recognized concept, followers on Twitter has grown into a 110,000-odd force while subscribers on Reddit exceeded 30,000. Further to our surprise, NEO community has seen an increasing number of outstanding developers onboarding and high-quality projects going live, including NEON light wallet, NeoTracker blockchain browser and NeoNewsToday, a news portal, to name but a few. With the joint efforts of contributors around the world, NEO has evolved into a technical community that empowers the world. With continuous enhancement of NeoContract smart contract system and the activation of NEP (NEO Enhancement Proposals) mechanism, it's in our belief that NEO community will see a swelling number of high-quality projects and a growing number of contributors.

They had the burning recently but seems like the price isnt going anywhere. Still suffering from bitcoin moon.
