i made this, what you think?

http://i.imgur.com/fOvZ4V9.jpg?1

I really like this, it brings such a powerfull message to anyone that knows what bitcoin and devcoin are all about.

for anyone that dosnt know what its all about i think it would be real cool to put a whole bunch of different fiat currencys in his hand so you could have a poster for each country.  ie throghing the dollar with the cryptocurrency symbol kind of picked out in the pixels of the qr code.

that way it could be used represent all cryptocurrencys wanted and all fiat currencys we are all tired of .

just saying that what it makes me think   nice work    jasont

This is not a good idea, the original artwork was by a famous graffiti artist banksy (I have met him/ helped him before) Banksy is quite famous and artworks have sold for millions. this might anger people that we are using another artists design (with slight modifications) personaly not a great way to create a good image

so your saying the user  liquidnitrogen is banksey ?

In that case i would like to ask liquidnitrogen if he minds playing around with it a bit to make a collection  and also if he minds anyone using the images in advertizing. you know like devcoin do free and open source software ?

We have a winner, and thanks a million to 0nlyBTC for coming up with it.

The Bitcoin Society is born.

Just registered a ton of domain names but www.thebitcoinsociety.org will be the official page domain, I bought .com, .net, .info and .biz just to keep them from being taken, and will probably use them for landing pages or somehow in the mix to better our SEO. Will be starting a new topic soon for some more creative services.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHOM HELPED WITH FINDING A NAME

Great thread... but as the famous transformation of The Facebook ---> to -----> Facebook

you may consider simply BITCOIN SOCIETY! Smiley

Either way, good luck!

Local bitcoin owns the plain bitcoinsociety dot org domain as well as all .com varients of it, at current localbitcoin owns over 300 bitcoin domains that all 403 to their localbitcoin website. If it ever expires or goes for sale at a reasonable price i will scoop it up and add it to my army of domains for the bitcoin society. I have begun work on a website design, but with all of Drupals security flaws i have spent the better part of a day already just plugging holes then pen testing them to make sure they are closed at this point, if i had the patience i would have just scripted my own CMS for the site but i want to focus more on the movement and promoting bitcoin than i do on a website design. so drupal was the logical answer. Only a few days of fixing exploits and plugging holes VS a month of PHP to code a CMS from scratch.

I AM IN NEED OF A MEMORABLE BUT BRIEF SLOGAN if any of you creative geniuses are still following this thread, I have seen too many websites use the stale "breaking the bitcoin barrier" slogan already and want to get as far away from that as possible.

I was thinking something that incorporates my core bitcoin values; Education, information, and telling everyone i ever talk to about bitcoin.

If one of you creative brains could find a way to make the above into a slogan that is brief but easy to remember i might even through you a tip if i use what you come up with, so please POST YOUR ADDRESS with your idea.

i have been reading your post with interest, and it sounds like to me like your values are better suited to devcoin.

as it is merge mined alongside bitcoin and is the longest running cryptocurrency to come out of bitcoin when the money makers split from the open source guys . the  motivation is not just a fair and just money system that cannot be manipulated by money markets but an open source system where everyone develops and creates what they enjoy creating and get paid to do it . in dollar terms devcoin is not worth much but to some it is priceless and will continue to climb as more and more people actualy earn it rather than trade it back and forth speculating . check it out there is more behind it than you would think at 1st glance .  jasont

Calling all bitcoiners in the UK .

Who thinks it would be a good idea to be able to top up pay as you go mobile phones with bitcoin.?

I have submitted this project to Bitcoinstarter for approoval and your feedback may help with their decision.
this is just a demo site to show how to obtain top up vouchers below face value for any network without having to be licenced by the monoplised distributors.

 https://www.cryptocredit.co.uk

funding would be used to build a new website/trading platform for mobile phone top up vouchers.
you will be able to obtain bitcoin for a top up voucher bought in any store for any uk network creating a virtual ATM.
you will be able to purchase top up voucher codes for any uk network using bitcoin an everyday product in demand by the unbanked.
All backers to recieve shares in the company and welcome to participate in its devlopment with ideas and sugestions for impoovement.

looking forward to any feedback  jason T  cryptocreditphones.com

It is interesting that ebay is going to allow digital currency on their U.K. site in February but not on the U.S. one.... that is a step in the right direction but still very annoying. If anyone on the forum is from the U.K. and planning on selling Devcoins, maybe something can be worked out to get more listings up and going for Devcoin in Feb.

I had all of my Devcoin listings canceled on ebay on the U.S. site a few days ago.

http://www.coindesk.com/ebay-uk-virtual-currency-february/

This has been a common problem for me in the uk . i have been selling loads of devcoin over the past few months and that is all i sell on ebay.

this is ebays uk response to digital currency.

Please know that per our recent policy update, Virtual currency (i.e. Bitcoin and Litecoin), whether digitally or physically delivered cannot be listed in Auction-style and Buy-It-Now listing formats. eBay is opening a Virtual Currency category to allow the sale of virtual currency in Classified Ads format on February 10, 2014. We request that you do not list these items until that date. Alternatively, you may list your item on the eBay.com site in the Coins & Paper Money>Virtual Currency Category in Classified Ad format.

i am up for doing all i can for devcoin on the uk site once i am allowed to list on the 10th feb.
all my adds have been removed now but i still have one remaining on the US site that seems to have been overlooked and has been ticking along steadyly introducing people at 500 dvc and fetching $1.99

i have also been doing some creative marketing on ebay to get out of the coin section to avoid detection and still introduce people to devcoin by advertizing mobile phone top up vouchers , explaining i can also email the code to them if they need it faster than a bitcoin transaction.
i also include a free offer of 500 devcoin and free digital wallet to sample in the advert.

Top up voucher cades are are a form of digital currency that can be exchanged for any other currency, and i am very interested in creating a website for the uk pay as you go phone top up market as i mentioned in this thead a few days ago when i made contact with melodie who acceps bitcoin and devcoin as payment for website building and coding.

I have asked kissmyweb to put this project on the back burner while i research and  see what interest i can drum up to raise funds to pay for such a trading platform working on BTCC/top up codes.

I want to somehow incorporate devcoin.

As devcoin is the developers coin it could and should be used to develop anything.

devcoin is now a writercoin because of the assciation with the devtome wiki
It could also be a phonecoin if associated with a new website dedicated to trading airtime on the uk telecomunications network.
none of the uk networks accept cryptocurrencys yet .
Most of there customers use pay as you go phones because they do not have a bank account.
I see a masive gap in the market and an oppertunity that needs to be filled .
like a virtual atm  people can obtain bitcoin/devcoin by simply purchasing a top up code from any store and forward it to the website for exchange.

i am not sure how the bountys work really and thats not my motivation , i have been in touch with the large distributors of airtime to enquire about buying airtime at wholesale prices and the door is slamed tight as the whole network is owned by one company and is monoplised to protect all the payment processers and retailers commisions down the chain .

the end users themselves will sell a top up voucher cheaper than the producers that create them !

many distributors have their own sim card produced, they make huge commisions from the network providor every time the sim card it toped up with airtime . i propose devcoin somehow develops its own simcard to a real income can be generated and all its members get to share in the discounts as well undercutting the man thats ripping us all off.

Been looking at cryptostocks and bitcoinstarter but not sure how succefull these sites are at attracting investors.

I have a feeling there will probably be an explosion of crypto listings on Feb 10th in the U.K. because this update to their policy is making the rounds. One easy way to sell them would be to require customers to make an account on Vircurex and send them a coupon code for the amount of Devcoins. It is a bit crude but it does show the coupon code number (you can't make up the number yourself) and whether or not it has been redeemed. I did a test coupon generation and transfer and it worked instantly.

You could track this by putting the coupon code number in the notes below the buyers link on All Selling > Sold.

I take it this is your listing...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/500-Devcoin-Digital-Cryptocurrency-cheaper-than-Bitcoin-Litecoin-Peercoin-ect-/191036400314?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item2c7aa822ba

That was a great idea !
i was well excited to find out there is a ready built platform already out there that could be used to trade credit codes.
just been to the site to figure out how the coupon system works and was dissapointed to see they are shutting down that feature.

Notice

The functionality of Coupons will no longer be supported. Please redeem your outstanding coupons as soonb as possible.

My issued coupons
Date   Coupon Code   Value

My redeemed coupons
Date   Coupon Code   Value

its got me thinking what other platforms out there could be used in this way.

also yes that is one of my listings that has attracted many to devcoin .
i also like the idea of seeing devtomes front brightened up, which leads me to the question about the logo i use in my listings that i found on google images.... the red and yellow one in my opinion has a lot more going for it and i have not seen it used anywhere else. what is the reason for this ?

since reading some of the brilliant stuff on devtome i am hooked, when getting to the end of an article how can you find who wrote it and follow up on some more by that author ? there seems to be no links for that on who wrote what and where to find it .or am i missed it ? still finding my way around.
 cheers jasont

I didn't have one successful auction on eBay because the highest bidders could not pass my very simple verification process. I was only selling $10 to $50 BTC worth at the time. I lost money from all the final value credit refund fees that never covered the auction cost.
Classifieds don't use the payment or feedback system. It's just like Craigslist.

your right ebay dont ouse the feedback system or the payment process, after paying the much higher fee to do the clasified add, i realizeds there was not buy it now or any payment button of any kind . nowhere for a buyer to make obvious contact either.

so irevised the add and put my email address in the discription so buyers could make paypal payment but unfortunately email address are not allowed in the add . so it looks like your screwed anyway lol .

the only way i got to get around that was to enter my email address without the  @ and . symbols but it is now going to be a very hard sell using classifieds unless you can put your website address in the add and sell from there but i dont think thats allowed ither.

they say ebay will contact you with buyers details but what the buyer clicks to indicate that in the advert i couldnt tell .

i have had much success selling on ebay with very few scams due to the fact that i have been getting the free listings for starting at less than a $1
in auction format and listing high amounts and multiple lots of devcoin which sell easy for $2 per thousand .

thats a masive mark up and profit but not worth the time of a scammer selling lots and lots of devcion to many people then turn it into bitcoin on vircurex is the way to go . give it a try because i have brought in almost $1,000 in less than a month  not all profit of course but very few scammers to bother me .

because devcoin is the longest running crypto next to bitcoin and not just another copy of bitcoin with a purpose behind it.
it is attracting lots of well educated writers and developers .
many people are earning it now for writing articles on devtome.com where all the others are just trading it back and forth.
it is so cheap at the moment it makes sense to get some and if goes down you havnt lost much!
but if it goes up just a little even a few cents on the dollar you will be laughing all the way to the bank . check it out and try selling on ebay while you still can do it in coins other world coins , do 1 listing holding mulitiple lots of 50-100  sell 100- 1500 DVC per lot no higher  you will make a profit with all lots sold  untill the listing is removed and fees refunded .
hope this helps anyone who is selling on ebay . jasont

thats really weird , i just done a search of the blockchain again and this time it comes up like this . your coins showed on the last search but not this time its been deleted.

i dont know how this can be but i am going to do some investigating to find out how this is at all possible. jason t

Ebay UK annouces new policy for virtual currencies

ebay removed all my listings for devcoin, the longest running cryptocurrency next to bitcoin if you've never heard of that one .

This is what they sent me :

Please know that per our recent policy update, Virtual currency (i.e. Bitcoin and Litecoin), whether digitally or physically delivered cannot be listed in Auction-style or Buy-It-Now listing formats. eBay is opening a Virtual Currency category to allow the sale of virtual currency in Classified Ads format on February 10, 2014. We request that you do not list these items until that date.

i think thats good news for a lot of people who have had there ebay susspended for selling it !

i really like your idea and enjoyed looking through all the different companys out there.
not many in the uk though... which is where i am at the moment making a start on my own bitcoin business/project.cryptocredit.co.uk and cryptocreditphones.com  its early days yet but hope to be listed soon with a new website and trading platform on cryptostocks.com who i thought were based in china not germany as at the bottom of their site have a line that says brought to you by the developers of vircurex who are chinese for sure.
i like the fact that you can scroll through the data  checking out who is where ,then click the link to open a new window give them a quick veiw over then go back to scrolling the next all in one place.
anyway i hope i make it to your data list as a successfull company trading mobile phone top up voucher codes for bitcoin and most importantly vice versa   with a small trading commision either way . i find most of the companys trading are all exchanges or wallets with not much to actualy spend it on especialy in the uk when shipping from far away is so expensive .
i would like to see the data more catagorized/ localized so i can see who is selling what at least in my country and search by country or even province.
phone top up voucher codes are a needed product that most pay as you go customers use only because they dont have a banking account to set up a contract phone . they also find it hard to obtain bitcoin unless going to ebay using paypal and paying through the nose for it .
then they could meet up in person using localbitcoin which is a bit ironic  considering this  digital age with superfast digital money  .
i imagine anyone going to the local store to buy a top up voucher code and using that to obtain an equal amount of bitcoin  making derivitives of the comunications network a currency in itself that can  be exchanged on a platform instantly for bitcoin. no need for a bitcoin atm or a bank account .
just need more companys selling products rather than exchanging back and forth continualy speculating .
think you done a great job of listing them all and i am sure this is going to be an esential part of the bitcoin ecconomy as it grows . all the best jasont

Anyone that has a good bussiness /plan or project that needs to raise funds should check out cryptostocks.com
there is nothing like the thought of other people investing in somthing you want to create to motivate you.
being the best you can be, doing what you want to be doing, and enjoying the ride.

thanks for that link , i went there copyed and pasted the address from my browser, dropped it into my revised ebay add and again got this message.

We’ve noticed that your listing included a non-clickable link. eBay no longer permits non-clickable or static links in listings (in item descriptions, payment instructions, return instructions, etc.). Please go back and either remove the non-clickable link, or update it to make sure it complies with the links policy.

They probably don't allow direct download links.

hmm not sure i know the difference between the one that works and the others that dont . i guess i will have to stick with the one thats working as it,s in all my templates and slips there attention .

can anyone tell me how to obtain a clickable link to the devcoin wallet downloads.
i have been advertizing devcoin on ebay for a couple of months now using the bottom link to direct new users to get a wallet.

i updated this link today to go to the devcoin .org site  but ebay dont let it in my adds. a message comes up saying  no non clickable links allowed .
what am i doing wrong ?

problem is.... the one i am using gives a warning not to download unless the site is trusted as could do harm to computer, so its not a very good link to show someone using it for the 1st time, it might put them off of downloading and getting one.

Addresses don't show on the network until coins are sent to them.

So if that is your Devtome address but you have not received coin there yet it makes sense that the network was not seen it yet.

Though usually Unthinkingbit does a test send to make sure you listed the right address..

that address is my devcoin wallet on my laptop, i have had loads sent to it and sent just as much back out all over the place yet i see no records of it even being in the system .
