Something strange is going on with FTC mining. All blocks proof to be orphan and there are no payouts. Anyone know what is going on?

Thank you Kruncha but at My Account I see just "Change the password" which I already did after the hack and "Delete my account". Don't have any menu for e-mail change.

Your right, sorry, I hadn't noticed. I've looked everywhere, and that option doesn't seem to be available Huh.

K.

That's fine, I got the thought that maybe Slush disabled it after the hack so they can not steal our accounts but I was just not sure if I am missing something.

Go to 'my account', and at the top of the page go to 'account settings'.

EDIT: I like the scoring as it is, no one can plan to come in late, as some rounds are only a few minutes long. It balances out in the end.

K.

Thank you Kruncha but at My Account I see just "Change the password" which I already did after the hack and "Delete my account". Don't have any menu for e-mail change.

About the score resets I just can't see how can they help. So lets suppose the resets are happening at each 90 minutes and I am constantly mining a block for 3 hours now. For this time I got two score resets which I would normally say it is OK. However the block is found after 3 hours and 10 minutes. Now I have been mining totally 190 minutes but I get the same score as those who joined just 5-10 minutes before the block is found. What is the point of using score when it resets on given period of time?

I do not mean to offend anyone and I am actually still a noob but am I missing something here or the score reset is faulted?

PS Off-topic after the OVH hack I would like to change my e-mail associated with the account but I just do not see such option. I am probably just blind  Smiley but is it possible to change the e-mail and from which menu?
Basely this is done so that pool hoppers get less on a longer runes since they take away from you on a shorter runs... So you loose only 2% of income not 20%... It is all explained in Slush annucment of implementation of the method. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1976.msg50002#msg50002

Lucko, its 2:40 AM here and I am probably missing something but let me try to explain what I see...

Pool hoppers get more on shorter runs and I understand that but what is the point of score reset? On shorter runs, there won't be enough time for the score to reset and the pool hoppers will screw me again. However on longer runs they will screw me again because the score resets on each xx minutes and even though I mined for several hours, a person that is switching pools each 5-15 minutes will get just the same score as mine after 3 hours of mining?

I do not want to offend anyone here and I personally think that Slush is a great guy (impressed me quite a lot during the hack outrages) but nevertheless I just can't get this resets...

Edit: Yes, before I started these score reset posts I already had read Slush's explanation on the topic, still the resets are not making any point to me.

Ok, I am surprised that the scoring system works that way....

It means even if I am an ASIC miner if I have an outage of 90minutes due to a storm then I lose all my shares value. Everyone else profited from my shares. So down time is my enemy.

How does the score system work? (I am sorry for my ignorance!)
There are some resets of the scores also so after a reset you don't get any... 90 minutes is more then enough for reset to accrue... Probably more then once. So even 1000 ASIC wouldn't help... That way I was asking for pool to have a maintenance mode and that way I'm using backup PPS pool in time of maintenance... And also why backup pool is PPS. So I get something out... If the backup pool would use Slush method for short outage I would get close to 0. But then again I could be lucky... For some time I used PPLNS method but I got out about 10% of what I lost so PPS is probably much better... But then again I might be wrong...

Not how the "reset" works. It's more of a "renormalisation".
OK then way my scores goes to 0? If it was renormalisation it would be some small number... And since I have a lot of problems with my miner right now I see score 0 toooooo many times right now...

If you are having problems with your miner, you should probably get those resolved first before complaining about what slush is doing.  Seriously, when my miners are stable, which is almost all the time, my payouts are constant and regular.  I've never had to worry about the score normalizing.

About the score resets I just can't see how can they help. So lets suppose the resets are happening at each 90 minutes and I am constantly mining a block for 3 hours now. Re: Undervolting 7950 -> dead PCIe slots ? ? ?

Bizaro, this is taken from cgminer:

GPU 0:  63.0C 3519RPM | 633.0M/623.9Mh/s | A:28539 R: 91 HW:0 U:  8.69/m I:13
GPU 1:  67.0C 3471RPM | 590.2M/587.0Mh/s | A:26510 R: 54 HW:0 U:  8.07/m I:10
GPU 2:  66.0C 3481RPM | 635.1M/626.0Mh/s | A:28425 R:103 HW:0 U:  8.66/m I:13

GPU 1 has lower rates because it is underclocked to 1150 MHz core and a little bit undervolted as well (Trixx voltage set to 1200 and GPU-Z is showing 1.144). I did this because it is located on the mobo itself and can not get very good cooling. The other two cards are raised with PCIe 1x to 16x risers and they get better cooling.

At the moment we are mining a single block on Slush's pool for almost 5 hours now. The worker statistics show 1851.842 MHash/s (all three cards) and total 7598 shares for this block.

When undervolting just test if the cards are stable. For instance when I was testing mine, if a card was not stable, it was restarted (the monitor blinks and looses the clock values). You can also test with 3D Mark or some stress tests. As if the mobo is fried, unfortunately I am not sure how we can really test this without putting the cards on different motherboard. However what PSU are you using? It would be easier if you can try to replace the PSU and see what is going on. I generally do not believe in coincidences but just do not see how this can happen from the undervolting.

Thank you guys

@pekv2 Yes, I know for imaging but I just didn't have imaging software around and decided not to bother downloading. Anyway Windows 7 reinstall with drivers + miner, gpu-z etc took me ~30 minutes Smiley I lost quite some time however trying to debug why can't properly downgrade to 13.1 and also searching what changed so the MHash/s speed in 13.4 got down. Failed on both fronts and just reinstalled Smiley

@Spotter Thank you, it seems like a good guide and I bookmarked it for future reference.

Just slightly off topic but what settings - if i may ask Smiley - are you using for the Sapphire 7950s? The one in my rig is running at an avg of 603 kh/s, getting it to 630 would be nice. Currently I am using cgminer with

shaders = 1792
intensity = 20
engine = 1075
memory = 1500
w = 256
thread-concurrency = 25088
lookup-gap = 2
threads = 1
auto-fan

and nothing else. I experimented for a day or two with all sorts of settings but this was the fastest I could come up with. Have I missed something or is it just my card? The model I am using is

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202026

EDIT

Just found a tip somewhere else on the forums here - enabling powetune +20 effectively turns it off and stops the cards from trying to save power. it increased my hashrate from 603 kh/s to an avg of around 635 kh/s - thanks roy7 for that tip.

I am currently mining bitcoin/sha256 and my memory is underclocked so can't really tell for litecoin. However in cgminer my settings are -I 13 -w 256. The cards are stable at 1200 core 300 memory (no crossfire) and for power GPU-Z is showing:

vddc 1.156 with peaks to 1.163
cddc current ~56 A
vddc power ~67 W
temp - from 64 to 70 top but they are not in case

Can also post a screen shot. The GPU is Sapphire with Boost @925 core stock and device ID 1002-679-A (can post link to the Sapphire site, but I am not sure if this will be violation of the forum rules).

Originally I also tested overclocking the memory and it reached about 1550 MHz stable with 1200 core so they should be good for LTC as well. I am just mining BTC at the moment as had some issues with CGMiner and windows.

Hope this helps.

I am also using 3 x Sapphire 7950 but with some cheap GB mobo. The voltage is very good (about 1.56 each) and I undervolted one of the cards to 1.119 in order to lower temperature (it runs stable at 1150/300 core/memory and the other two are @1200 core). This is running stable for almost 10 days now and do not have any issues. What you describe definitely looks like mobo/PCIe issue but I do not see how undervolting will burn the mobo. My personal guess is that it is coincidence that it happened after you undervolted one of the cards. Some motherboards can not constantly run their PCIs on higher voltage and over time the tracks are just burning. Since yours is with several PCIe x16 the cache for this to happen is small (the vendor should have done the voltage calculations) but my bet is still on this.

Re: Mhash/s not matching what its says online.
by

On my GUIminer its says I'm mining at 76.4 Mhash/s and it maintains that but sometimes goes ranges from 71.4- 76 but usually its maintains at 76.4 Mhash/s.  When I check my account and go to the workers section its says that I'm mining at 47.306 Mhash/s.  Is there something wrong with my setup? or is that how it is normally?

Try experimenting with different settings. I think the pools are calculating your mining power based on the number of shares you send. If you have too aggressive settings for your GPU, then you will just won't send the shares on time.

I have found that sometimes it can drop quite a bunch if I leave it running for a while. Not sure about the cause yet, but I've had my card at 21.7 mH (its slow I know).. and then leave it for a few hours and when I come back its done to like 5mH. Trying to find a solution. That may be destroying your averages though.

Check your Windows power settings. When I first started mining, my workers were stopping on each 30 minutes or so. Then I found that Windows is set to sleep if no activity. Silly me! I lost quite some time then. Just go to Control Panel -> Power check the advanced settings and remove any kind of HDD, VGA, PCI suspension and sleep/hibernate.

Re: Your Reward: NONE" on mining.bitcoin.cz
by

That's because of the score based system they use at that pool. The newer a share is, the more it is worth. The older a share is, the less it is worth. On long rounds, old shares can become worth very little (or even worthless).

Yes, I am mining there for almost 10 days now. Total 2500 MHash/s power but the score system is kind of messy. When we start a new block, the score starts to raising over time and after like 30 minutes I reach several millions in score but a minute later it is back to 0. I am sure I have no disconnects. From what I understand from Slush's info, it the more time you mine (without disconnecting) the better score you get and I just cant get it why it gets to 0 over time. For longer blocks mining like 1-2 hours and more the score may reset more than 10 times. Maybe I am missing something but the way it looks to me, it is not good.

PS Yes, I understand the point of score system to fight cheaters but just think there is something wrong here.
PPS From the pool posts Slush seems like a great guy and can't say anything against him Smiley

From 630 to 670 MH/s using Sapphire 7950 OC (stock 925/1250) clocked to 1200 MHz Core and 300 MHz memory. GPU-Z shows VDDC @ 1.56, Fans at 100%, ambient temperature about 30 degrees and core cant get above 68 degrees but the GPUs and MB are not in case Smiley Got lucky to chose Sapphire and now I highly recommend these cards.

Well, I just tried the new drivers while gaming, CRASHES CGMINER EVERY FUCKING TIME after some time of running.
Im STILL fucking stuck on 12.8!!!!

I REALLY fucking want some new drivers, What The Fuck!

What cards are you mining/gaming with?
7950

I tested 13.4 but my bitcoin hashrate dropped from 630 MH/s to 560 MH/s. Also after that I was unable to uninstall the drivers and revert back to 13.1 (even with driver sweaper). Cgminer was also crashing upon startup. I had to reinstall Windows 7 64 bit to get all fixed. Using Sapphire 7950 boost OC @925 MHz stock version (of course my GPUs are overclocked over these values).

I do not know how is on Linux but if you have similar setup, just do not bother with 13.4.

Re: Setting up first time miner having issues / Litecoin

Hi there, I have similar problem with CGMiner and "error -5: Enqueueing kernel onto command queue gpu0 failure, disabling!" (in mine case for two GPUs without crossfire). This seems to have happened since I tried to use "setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100" in Windows in order to increase the maximum thread concurrency. Greek, did you modify this value as well?

I tried to delete the registry keys for GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT but it didn't help. Now CGMiner is always showing this and stops when I try to mine litecoin. Bitcoin mining works fine though.

I tried reaper as well but it didn't work even with 6144 thread concurrency. I also tried GUI Scrypt miner which appears to be based on CGMiner as well and it works fine with 8192 for thread concurrency.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x86_64 and tested it with cgminer 3.0 and 3.1 (reaper was the latest version) but no difference. Does anyone know how to fix this?
