Re: Is new merit system really success ?
by

your account has ranked that is safe if you agree if your account is still a newbie Huh

Yes, rank is meaningless to me. If you check the date I registered you'll work out that I would easily be Legendary in rank by now if I had been interested to do so. You can also see that my posts have been awarded 103 merit points in the 26 days since the merit system was introduced. That means the system wouldn't have made any difference to my rank if it had always been there anyway, as that's a lot quicker than activity could be gained.

The only reason to care about rank is if you are here primarily to earn money for posting. I'm getting paid for my signature right now but I see that as a bonus, not a reason to be here.

This is a good read and a motivation @TheQuin! I hope that this system will develop in a way where us newly users will not struggle so hard just to earn merits since currently, the standards set were too high and then there is also the scarcity of Smerits that can be given.

Re: Merit & new rank requirements

The probability of me getting a girlfriend is much higher than me getting merits here in the forum lol.

I agree and supports the idea that spammers are to be filtered out in this forum and hoping to see a better community but don't you guys think that we should have a level (criteria) of how much merit you can give to users depending on how informative it was not just how much they feel like giving to.

Like for example, decent and on-topic posts gets 0.5-1 merit, while those informative ones receive 1-5 merit depending on how informative/constructive it was. 50 if it was a well-written thread or something like that.

Or that the posts have something like a like button that if the post 4 likes it will automatically receive 1 merit. This can also be monitored if users are taking advantage of it because it's easy to check who likes who per post. so user liking their posts using alt accounts can also be determined.

I will be lying if I say that I'm only here for is to become educated in crypto/bitcoin/blockchain with the benefit of knowing the opinions of other people across the globe. I also want to would want to have the opportunity to join signature campaigns too just like everyone else in this forum.

Reason to buy now is because of the price correction that happened recently. The price was down till 6k USD an opportunity everyone was waiting to join the upcoming bull ride.

I think Satoshi is just observing what will happen with the technology that he has brought the world in. How will the people and the world will respond to this kind of technology. And with the world we're in right now, it's better to remain anonymous than be famous for bringing a technology that opposes the banks.

It's all about in the mind. If your mind is not strong enough to be affected by FUD then it makes you overthink a lot and gives you anxiety of how you will make a move in order to not gain a loss. A positive mindset and a proper attitude attracts profit and success

Re: It's Not Over Yet
by

It's not over yet because we're just in the early phase adaption of blockchains which causes these uncertainty which leads to FUD. no one wants to lose money when the price of cryptocurrency crashes hard bottom and people with only investments and profits in their mind makes them in a panic state whenever a dip happens. People are not thinking in the long run that's why what they're only seeing is what lies before them.

It just proves how strong your trust in bitcoin is, if with these dips and that made you panic sell then this one is not for you. Not being able to see the opportunity that rises during those dips are also one. The market will not fall and will go to even greater heights.

I'm thinking that the price will have one last correction before its price to steadily increase. the world will see that the price is recovering and will go back to join the bull ride and set another record-breaking price.

Well, you can't really participate in ICO's if you don't have money to put into. They also have a minimum amount of btc/eth requirement before you can participate. It's because for the money to jump-start, they need the funds for the project/company to succeed within the time limit. So for those who can't participate in ICOs including me, it's better to join sig campaigns or bitcoin trading.

Re: what benefits you've got from bitcoin in 2017
by
siopaotsin
on 08/02/2018, 05:09:20 UTC
I started late in 2017 but what I think I gained from bitcoin is the idea of financial freedom. As the technology is still young and it is in its early phase a lot of people doubted cryptocurrency as a whole but this community helped me to broaden my thinking. With this, I'm expecting that this 2018 with the learnings I've gained a few months back till know will lead me to financial freedom.

Currently, the price of btc is slowly recovering but it's not definite if the price will go bounce back again with its old price or will it go bearish till 6-5k usd. It's really dependent on the whales who can manipulate the market with their holdings

Re: Ripple replacing Bitcoin in 2018
by
siopaotsin
on 01/01/2018, 09:10:32 UTC
I don't think ripple will replace bitcoin this 2018, bitcoin has already proven itself to the world and anyone knows of it. Ripple, on the other hand, is just starting but a lot of people are gaining interest to put their bucks to ripple. Another thing to consider is that bitcoin is decentralized while ripple is not. so it will more of the people's discretion if what they want to use in the future. Bitcoin currently has a high transaction fee while ripple will make bankers richer.

Re: Electronic Money vs. Physical Money
by
siopaotsin
on 01/01/2018, 08:39:11 UTC
Basically they are just both the same in concept in terms of transactions. physical money is used daily in small-scale transactions while in electronic money, it can range from small to large scale of transactions. if we'll put it in cryptocurrencies perspective, it'll be difficult because of the volatility.

on 01/01/2018, 07:57:02 UTC
There are a lot of assets where you can put your money in, don't limit yourself to just one. but i suggest that do put some of it in bitcoin and ethereum and other altcoins (you need to do some research first) then it can be in ICOs too. This applies to anyone else wanting to invest in cryptocurrencies

I agree with you, but I'm going to do is to invest in franchising businesses which will help people to get appropriate jobs that will really sustain their livelihood. In that way it will be a win-win situation for me and those people. thus generating more businesses in the future

There's actually no good time to invest, for me it really is dependent on your opinion, day and mood. If you feel it is a good time to buy now then go. You know yourself more so only you can tell if your condition is good to buy and you have a strong feeling/hunch to buy now.

Re: Is bitcoin a good way to invest your money ?
by
siopaotsin
on 27/12/2017, 05:14:00 UTC
What I can see is that for you to profit in bitcoin you need to have at least 0.1 BTC and make smart decisions in trading. As of the moment, it costs at around $1500 which is expensive for some people who wanted to trade. Nonetheless, if you really want to profit from bitcoin you should be serious in doing it and not afraid to lose your money.

Re: Why did you choose bitcoin?
by

I chose bitcoin because it really got a lot of potential and most of the people right now are into it now and even Japan implemented it as a legal currency. there's plenty of space for improvement though so don't lose faith to bitcoin!
