If you are still unable to recover your bitcoin from the wallet - it may be worth considering professional services - they do however cost -

https://bringbackmycrypto.com - charge 10%

https://www.walletrecoveryservices.com - charge 20%

There is also a Russian guy on Telegram - not sure what he charges but he seems to have been about for a while.

Most offer a no fix no feee basis.

Probably worth using the free tools like btcrecover/hashcat etc.. but if your password is 8+ characters long - it can take a while!

All the best

Take a look at hashcat (works with hashes of the wallet.dat file) - both brute force and/or dictionary attacks - if using GPU's speed is massively improved - if that fails contact https://bringbackmycrypto.com/

Re: Can you find which crypto this public key belongs to ...

Thanks again for all your help - I am always a little hesitant to use online websites to check sensitive things e.g. private keys!

Is anyone aware of a tool (prefeerably offline) that will convert a HEX private key to a Base58 private key (i.e. into WIF format) ?

Thanks
Stephen

Thanks for all your help in identifying which crypto currency this public key was from.

Is anyone aware of a website that tells you the various formats of public keys/private keys of the main crypto currencies?

Hi

Thanks for coming back to me so fast.

No it is not mine, however I was given by the family of the previous owner - he sadly died.

The public key that starts with TMWgDA5 and end with 3zJK7No is 34 characters long.

The other key - which I think is an associated private key is in Hex and 63 characters long (perhaps a leading 0 missing to make it 64 characters long) - it starts with 73cedc8e7 ... and end 10dc7078

Thanks for your help.

Hi

I have a key and was wondering if anyone knows which crypto currrency it belongs to?

It starts with TMWgDA5 and end with 3zJK7No

I think it is a public key (but it might be a private key!) - just wondered which crypto it belongs to - is there an easy way to find out?

Thanks

If the file is only encrypted and not corrupt there is  a fair chance of recovering the password.
I have been recovering lost and forgotten passwords for over 20 years now.
Your only problem is to find somone you trust enough not to run away with your coins.
My success rate is about 80% on pc files and under 20% on bitcoin wallets.
Feel free to reach out, otherwise I wish you luck in finding a trustworthy person.
