This seems like the closure.
In 2011 or 12, I met Amit Bhardwaj in a Bitcoin meetup we use to run in Delhi.
After the meetup he approached me and few others for a scam.
Ever since then I have seen him do scams after scams, each larger than the earlier.

I hope stupid media doesn't want bitcoin banned coz of this.

Re: Sidechains and malleability

Are there any sidechain ideas or proposals that depend on the ability to create non-malleable transactions?

If so, why?

Because to peg a sidechain to the mainchain, someone, centralised or in a decentralised manner, must verify that transaction met some conditions (e.g.,to lock the coins on mainchain and is certain levels deep). If the transaction is malleable, it is difficult to programatically achieve this since txid could change. I think depending on the design of the sidechain, this can be taken care of, BUT although the solution might be programmable, it would most probably be centralised.

Re: Zebpay now needs verification for buying Vouchers/Recharge
by

on 20/05/2017, 10:07:19 UTC
The only reason i was using zebpay was because it does not require verification for buying vouchers and doing recharges but now they changed thier policies which is not a good choice.Too much control over thier users is BAD.What benefit do we have of using bitcoin when we need to go all though that? If i have to do verification then why not verify paytm and do recharges there instead of using zebpay?
Do you guys know any other service where we can purchase vouchers like amazon/flipkart/bms etc with bitcoin without verifications?

Ya, this is step backwards by zebpay with respect to bitcoin but they might have been forced to do so by the government rules.
Try purse.io (or might get lucky on lbc) for buying amazon vouchers with btc

(I am not affiliated with the site in any manner. Just a good forum. Also there is a t-shirt giveaway happening right now so.. Smiley )

Re: [2017-05-08] The Future of Bitcoins
by
skang
on 15/05/2017, 14:19:46 UTC
Bitcoin is rising ,dont know why ,there isnt any political crises as far i have heard.but this lead to further delay in bitcoin transaction ,soon this hype will be over and altcoin will rise again.bitcoin will be taken over by ethereum in coming years because ethereum blockchain is more reliable ,faster and majority of upcoming are based on its blockchain.

I feel the ethereum blockchain shall cease to exist in a few years because it is neither turing complete as they falsely advertise, nor is it a technically a blockchain because a blockchain only works as an DMMS algo if the underlying token governs one fixed task, whereas ether does not. How does one determine the gas price of an opcode in a network? How does ethereum do it? (I think only people understanding the need for proof-of-work blockchain will understand this) One cannot do this accurately as evident by the spam attack on the suicide function in ethereum a few days ago.

You might want to check out https://github.com/bcoin-org/bcoin as well.  You can run it in SPV mode if you don't want to run a full node.

Do not use any APIs and use your local blockchain instead! Bitcore and bcoin both provide you a javascript layer on top of a local bitcoin blockchain running on your system ..

Thank u so much.

Were u present at the event?

Any idea of what Mr. R. Gandhi, Deputy Governor of RBI, and Mr. Shaktikanta Das, Finance Secretary of Government of India, stated?

Nope I wasn't. One takeaway I find is that regulations are coming in soon which is great news. I hope people post more info.

Sorry, I am not interested in the group buy but if I may suggest, the lectures by nptel are way better and free. I have cleared gate CS 5 years in a row and always got less than 500 rank and 50+ score just by going through nptel videos and practicing the relevant books mentioned. (Didnt join because I only wanted IIT Bombay CS which ends at 150 rank) ..

For clearing product based companies I would suggest finishing the exercises in major CS topics like, Computer architecture, OS, data structures and algorithms (do CLRS book) ..

You can always PM me if you are stuck at a specific topic and stackoverflow is your best friend ..

I would suggest spending time, rather than your money..

Re: Starting as new miner & building your own rig for altcoins

PM me if you still need a Eth/Zcash/XMR mining rig. I build and sell/ship them.
I would like to know about the configuration and the price and the total cost of running the rig as well as the profit that can be attained with it. My worries are the electricity charges and how to manage the sound and heat coming out of it.Like to know about it in details.

For 1.35L you get a rig with 6 X RX 470 doing 164Mh/s consuming 770W total in an enclosed 4U server type case with 3 CM casefans. Will post pictures here if interested.

Please post pictures, am interested. Shipping charges? warranty?

Re: State Bank of India Announces Financial Blockchain Consortium ‘Bankchain’
by
skang
on 28/02/2017, 18:25:14 UTC
It's a whole new world. Public and private chains galore!

That's true. Government will play a vital role to set the ball rolling. Will need to wait to check how they bring in policies for such currency in place. Will they give the nod to go ahead or will they curb it?
Running a bankchain does not mean anything when it comes to bitcoin.Block chain is an open technology and anyone can make use of it and it is not a big surprise that banks are taking a closer look into the new tech and it has nothing to do with the bitcoin .

Sorry but blockchains were invented by bitcoin.

Also there is nothing for banks to look at in the "blockchain tech" since it is only effective in decentralised scenario;
In a centralised scenario blockchains are worse ( slower and expensive) than traditional systems.

The govt can maybe play a role in short term (a decade maybe at max?) but in the long term cryptocurrencies are beyond govt control..

Well anything which govt cannot control or keep a trap of it do you think they would not like to put a ban on it. And once the ban comes in then you trade or buy/sell that is though illegal means. Need to wait and watch out for.

Lack of trading is actually good for the bitcoin ecosystem as trading has nothing to do with bitcoin. People will then directly earn and spend (and not buy and sell) bitcoins. The government cannot ban internet, govt cannot ban speech - bitcoin works even without computers.
