Re: Are private keys able to be transported between different hot wallet softwares?

Okay thanks for the information. I do like exodus, the concern is just about it being a closed source software. I decided if I begin using another wallet I'm just going to send it and pay the gas fee rather than try to import keys.

If I have a bitcoin wallet on say Exodus, but something happens to the people that make Exodus, could I upload the 12 word private key on a different bitcoin hot wallet such as electrum and get my coins back?

Let's say I have an exodus wallet and an electrum wallet. How would I go about transferring bitcoins from one to the other by use of exporting private keys without having to pay the transaction fees by sending to an address? I am the owner of both wallets and this is just to transfer to myself.

Hi, so I have an account on coinbase as well as an exodus wallet. So I know the basics about how bitcoin works and how to buy and store it.
Exodus supports Replace-by-Fee:
- Exodus supports RBF
- Guide from Exodus to set Bitcoin custom fee

You can check the mempool and find the best transaction fee with your readily waiting time for your transaction. If you can wait 1 hour for first confirmation, you can choose fee with size in the mempool about +/- 6 MB from the tip (one block takes max 1 MB from the tip with jochen-hoenicke.de chart)
https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC%20(default%20mempool),24h,weight

Wow, I didn't even see that was there! Okay so if I set it to say, the lowest fee on there, how long would that take about? An hour?

Hi, so I have an account on coinbase as well as an exodus wallet. So I know the basics about how bitcoin works and how to buy and store it.

However, I notice that if I try to send bitcoin from my exodus wallet to a bitcoin address that it shows a fee I do not think is reasonable at all.

I'm only interested in small purchases or making small donations to some people I follow just for fun but small purchases seem to have the highest fees. it won't even allow me to send like 2 dollars at all, and if I wanted to send $5, the fee it showed was like over 8 dollars.

Over eight dollars in fees to send five dollars? Does this sound right?

Is this a problem just with exodus or are other services or methods more reasonable? I had already paid a fee that I didn't think was too bad to send some bitcoin from coinbase to exodus which I don't remember being too bad.

I could understand like a 1-3% fee as you see with credit cards but when the fee is like 160%

You asked about the "cheapest possible way to mine".

If you're on a tight budget, don't want to wait for hard-to-find hardware, you could always do some hashing by hand using pencil and paper.

see: http://www.righto.com/2014/09/mining-bitcoin-with-pencil-and-paper.html

Lol, funny.

Basically I'm just asking if I could make the same amount by plugging an external GPU into a laptop as I would by building a rig with that same GPU and the other components.

Binance is giving me a problem now. I did get the very small amount of bitcoin into the app, like $1.40 worth and I bought 1 ripple coin with like 38 cents left in bitcoin. Since I don't plan on using binance anymore I figured I may as well just send that 38 cents back to GDAX but when I clicked the withdraw button a message just popped up where they say they strongly recommend I enable F2A or whatever that's call. I would, but like I said I don't want to use Binance anymore so why aren't they letting me withdraw my bitcoin?

Could I theoretically just buy one or two external GPUS and plug them into an old laptop I no longer use and then mine on that laptop?

This as an alternative to buying all the other components of a rig like the ram, and monitor, and cpu and all that stuff.

Re: Android Apps

I tried a few apps but they're scams unfortunately. Usually a program opens up and says it's mining on your phone and generating satoshi but it isn't actually mining. And then ads and surveys come up to give you more but you'd still have to have the phone on for like 6 months to get the minimal payout and I'm going to assume that even if you did it's not like you'd actually get anything.

I think the people that make those apps get a commission themselves when the ads and surveys and other garbage appear in the app and they just want to waste your time because they're not nice people. The playstore should remove all of them quicker. But at least you know now not to waste your time.

i didn't read the others comments yet, but i will definitely look for the bitcoin's price!!!
i am too much addicted to crytpo

Lol, the OP said that's the one thing you can't do since it would be too obvious and yet a third of the people here are saying that anyway.
But man, do I wish I went back in time to 2011 and told myself to put even $1 into bitcoin lol.

I just use coinbase for bitcoin and litecoin.

I know some people insist on a hardware wallet but the hardware wallet itself costs money and unless we're talking about an insane amount I think the coinbase site can be trusted. They are very reputable. Would anyone argue with that?

Desktop wallets seem more prone to hacking and accidentally locking yourself out.

I know if I have a really bad day having 1, 2 or even 3 drinks really relaxes me and helps me forget about it. But then after a few people should stop to avoid feeling bad also the next day and getting all those health problems people talk about.

Most problems with booze come from people driving with it or having an outrageous amount. People shouldn't demonize people that drink just one or two at a time.

I guess some people just couldn't resist the one rule of the thread not to mention anything about crypto.

I'd definitely look up current technology to see how that progressed in 20 years, medicine, electronics, and all that stuff. I know people focus on the bad thing that happen in the world but the overall pattern is life becomes easier for people with technological advancement.

It did appear that by moving the coins to GDAX and then sending to a random wallet address from there that there was no fee. It took like 12 hours but that's not bad.

questions about network fees
by

on 25/12/2017, 03:05:37 UTC
So I tried to send a small amount of bitcoin from coinbase to a wallet address on my Binance account so I could buy alt coins.

But then they tried to hit me with an outrageous "network fee". For trying to send like $5 worth of bitcoin they wanted to charge me $32! That can't be right. How do I send my bitcoins to another wallet without network fees. I have a GDAX account also if that helps.

I actually was just about to register on bittrex. When I tried a message popped up saying that they halted new member registrations, something about such a large number of people registering all at once that overwhelmed them or something. Weird.

I'm already familiar with coinbase and Gdax but they only cover four coins at the moment.

What is a good exchange where I could buy and sell alt coins like Ripple, Dash, Monero, and Cardano?

Ideally, the fees will be zero or very low. Obviously I want something secure as well.

Re: mining with a gaming computer

Before I build a rig, I'm thinking of beginning mining with simply using the single card on a gaming computer.

If I had to choose would I be better off with an AMD RX 580 4GB or a Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB

I hear that AMD are slightly more efficient at mining but are more prone to overheating which isn't good.

Also, could I still use the computer for light tasks like talking to people on facebook or internet surfing while mining?
You should have no problem using the computer for light tasks, I do the same on my desktop while mining.

Awesome! Can I keep it on mining at night while I sleep?

Of course you can! And if the day in the Claymore to stop mining it is also possible to watch films and play games, and then again to start mining.

Nice, so I'll probably start with Etherium since that's booming right now but do you guys recommend any other alt currencies that will work on an RX580 as well?

I think you mean to say about the RX 580 card. This is one of the best to choose for altcoin mining with the GPU rig. If you want to mine with your computer means also it will work but the profit expectation will not fulfilled like a rig you are using to mine. Currently I am mining with the 5 RX 470 cards for ethereum. It is giving me around 350 USD per month including electricity charge. So choose the right rig set up if you want to be involved in the mining platform.

Yes I did mean to say RX thanks. I guess I'm just nervous about going all in just yet as I never have mined before and I want a new desktop computer anyway, so I figured that would be a good place to start.
