Mining SMC on hash.so is currently disabled. Any potential Chance to bring it life again on old fork?

Do you have details of the owner?

As far as I know I cannot edit a locked thread.

I have sent Invisible Hands the premine. From now on, anything you may have you can talk to him. If you want to help out with coding, or anything else, make sure you talk to him first so he can organize a team.

The official github will be going down in a few days, so someone will have to open a new one.

Please fork what repos you may need, including the website (if you need it).

Anyway, here is my official statement on why I had to leave and why I can't continue this anymore.

It all started last week at my startup I work full time at. We had been looking for potential investors for some time, and in the light of all of the BTC news, we were having a hard time. We had just gotten news that a VC wanted to us to fly to his office immediately and pitch our product to him. So, overnight we flew 700 miles to his office and pitch our project we had been building for 2 years. He liked it and made an initial offer. We accepted. The team stayed there for a couple of days, talking, signing stuff, etc. What had happened before flying out was that I was pushed to release a forked version of SMC lowering the block rewards.

Since I had delayed it for a while I decided to delete it in a rush. I didn't think it was my job to contact every single service that used SMC. The community wanted that, so I delivered it. Everything was placed on my hands to make it happen. No one took the initiative to contact anyone else about it. I pushed it out to the forums, twitter, and other social media channels. Although one issue was that I was pushed to release the fork without a functional Windows wallet. One of the guys who I work with usually did the compilation for me, but since we were 700 miles from home he didn't have access to his development machine. All I had was my Mac laptop and my phone. I compiled the Mac clients as I usually do, and pushed the code to Github. I hoped that we would get back in time to finally compile that crappy wallet, but our flight home was scheduled 4 days later. Then things started going down hill. No one had updated after the fork, now there were to versions out in the wild, one of them wasn't even being supported because there were no clients connecting to it. I was frantic, I didn't know what to do. At the beginning, I had several people on my team. I had other programmers and designers who helped me out, some I knew, some I didn't.  Eventually all of them quit, citing the same thing: time was too short. We simply didn't have the time to dedicate ourselves to it anymore. I stayed because I had to: I created it any I didn't want it to die. SmartCoin came out of the free time I had laying around after finishing the first version of our product. It was now up to the executives to go and find potential investors, so I had some spare time on my hands.

Having a deep interest in P2P networks, cryptography, and Bitcoin in general, I decided it would be fun to try something new. In the sea of shitcoins, I wanted to make something that stood out. I came up with a cool distribution plan and a lot of other potentially awesome features. And it launched great. And for a month it was the best time of my life. To witness my creation being appreciated and loved. But it was equally as hectic. The constant bargement of trolls, hundreds of emails and PMs, pressures to perform, and the like. I introduced a few of my coworkers to it, and they liked and contributed a few things to SMC. Towards the 1 month mark, after the marketer had quit, I knew things were going to go south unless I found someone else to fill his shoes in. But I didn't. No one was willing to. No one in the community decided to step up. They had "invested" in SMC and hoped someone could make the money for them. But they didn't "invest" in SmartCoin. They invested in the price of SmartCoin. The people working on this were never directly monetarily helped by the community. Sure, they helped by supporting the price, but in the people making it work, they didn't invest a single penny. I felt like I needed to make that distinction.

After I saw the hell the fork brought, and the trolls that followed, I had had it. In anger, I decided that it was over, and that I could just not update it anymore. I wasn't planning on leaving, I wasn't planning on dumping, I just didn't have the time to manage it anymore. My decision was short-sided and I realize that. But in the end, I was one guy with a full time job, trying to manage a community that required a full time job. It just didn't fit. In hindsight, I think it would have been a lot more different had the community stepped in an done something noticeable after the marketer had quit. But instead they all sat there twiddling their thumbs, waiting for their "investment", their magical bean to sprout into a giant beanstalk. Everyone talked about action, but never took any action. And that rubbed off on me. I wasn't taking a cut off SmartCoin's success. Instead, I had put in 6 BTC in order to support the price from being dumped in an instant. In the end, I had purchased about 40k SMC, so you can get an idea of what kind of prices I was buying at.

I am extremely apologetic for the things I may have caused, it was never my actual intention for the future of SMC to turn this bleak. But due to hundreds of variables that never panned out, this was the only thing my short sided mind saw.

My sincerest apologies,

Steven

P.S. If you ever need the smartcoin domains to point to a nameserver, let me know and I'll modify the domain records.

Invisible Hands, if you want to continue this project, I will give you all of the resources I have.

Since I don't know how stable withdrawing on Cryptsy is, I'll just send the premine to your trade key on Cryptsy.

whale123 sent me a nice threatening PM saying if I didn't release a statement, he'll make a bounty for my info on 4chan. Too bad 4chan is not your personal army, nor are they that immature. I'll probably make a more official statement soon regardless.

I locked, not deleted the thread for archival purposes. This is the new thread I guess.

The ex-Dev is right. Everyone must understand that investments of any kind are risky, especially with cryptocurrencies even more so. Profits are NEVER guaranteed so stop blaming the ex-Dev. Making threats won't solve anything. At the same time, these threats should not be responded with inaction just to get back at the hecklers.

I think a fair solution for everyone involved is to get SmartCoin back on track with an official fork and a working wallet, and after that the ex-Dev should not be responsible for anything. After that, at least the SmartCoin has a chance to go through free market fluctuations that anyone can take a risk buying in with.

Let's go back to the old Logo and fork if we have to. The logo wasn't that bad to begin with. The problem was the ineffective marketing. That can change with the right people getting involved.

Does that sound fair to everyone?

Even though most of what you say are true, the dev. does have a responsibility to find someone to replace him when he quits... he can't just stand up and walk out when he feels like it. That's very irresponsible. At the same time, I feel for the dev. because he does have a lot of responsibilities. But he shouldn't start what he can't finish.

Indeed. To the ex-Dev, please don't take any threats too seriously and just get SMC back on track. You were smart enough to know how launch SMC, but surely you were not ready for the hard times/turbulence as any job or product or journey will entail. This is a good learning experience to give you a taste for the real world. Just understand at times you have to be persistent and have thick skin to make it anywhere in life. Don't give up so easily. Remember the time Bitcoin collapsed a few times in its early years.... Look at where it is now. Surely no one gave up. Giving up is the worse option!

I'm trying my best, so far no one has stepped up to try to take over. I'm willing to transfer the domain, twitter, github, and the premine to anyone who is willing to take over.

I wrote to ahmedbodi
I hope he answer soon

I got an email from the old marketer that he is getting death threats and you and metsjtwhatever are talking about hiring hitmen.

I am not treating this as fun. If you think you can just throw that word around and our personal information and threaten to kill us I won't hesitate to call the appropriate authorities. I suggest you and metsjstl stop right now. Sure, you know our names, but stop there before it gets even worse.

Bad investments happen, I never made a promise of any potential price. I realize now I was unfit for this commitment and expectations. You guys "investing" in the coin did not invest in me, so don't call it that. You invested in the free market, some held less time and won, and some didn't including me. I have not made a single penny from SMC. In fact I'm out about 6 BTC later trying to support the price. I am a victim too, but instead I am q victim of myself.

I am gone the entire weekend due to work. I'm typing this on my phone right now.

I have not left completely or dumped the coins.

Things are shaping up for the startup I work for and I cannot devote the time needed to make this a success. It seems like people have already taken charge. I am willing to give 150k SMC for the person willing to take the leadership position. I realize that I should have admitted that a while ago, but I was stubborn.

I don't appreciate whoever posted those profiles. That is not a responsible behavior and it doesn't show your maturity.

I trust ahmedbodi, if he would like to continue this project.

I've withdrawn from my cryptsy account. I have no idea what fork they're on. It shows as failed on their website. Please do not trade on cryptsy until I resolve this.

Dev - can we pls have some comment regarding the wallet??

I've never heard of that antivirus.

Probably just a false positive.

Also, thank you for compiling, I'm sending the reward your way.

whats the problem? why cant he compile it himself?
I don't know how to compile either so I certainly don't want to throw the blame around. Now does anyone know how to compile the windows wallet? I'm sure a bounty would be in order for it.

Because you don't press a magical button and do it.

Windows is a pain in the butt and that is why I stay away from it.

Yes, there is a 10k SMC bounty.

First we need peoples and exchangers to update wallet... I see 1-2 peers with new version and this peers use some different chains now.
Better way don't move coins now until network update to the new version.

2DEV: Do you have information from exchanger, who is updated, who not?
+1
this is very important, and windows wallet

Also, yes.

I'm officially declaring that the correct fork is the one that Hash.so is running.

If you're running the old windows wallets, dump your private keys and back up your wallet.dat.

Close your client so you don't serve a forked blockchain.

--------

Cryptsy doesn't seem to be responding to my requests to update.

I believe they're on the wrong fork. For now, don't purchase any SMC until the resolve the issue -- which means emailing, creating support tickets, etc.

--------

I've also received a PM from http://www.blueyvpn.com/ offering to accept SMC for their business. They are talking about a "partnership" and I'm curious as to what that means.

I'll fill you guys in as I get more info.

check this thread if some may decide to contact the writer and donate a few coins to include us in the book
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483187.0

I don't think that will bring any value to SMC.

Can anyone access getsmartcoin.com? Seems to be down right now.

In regards to the website, I'm resolving some billing issues.

Download links still work except for the Windows wallet as it isn't updated.

Are you trolling?

No, all of my computers are running OS X or Linux.

At work there is one Windows machine but I do not have admin rights to install Qt and MinGW.

when to expect everything to be ready for the new wallet

and update the main post with the new book and change of the award

I've tried several times to compile the windows wallets with wine, and no dice.

I don't have access to a windows machine with administrator.

We have forked successfully.

Please make sure you're running protocol version 60003!

Windows wallets are not out yet.

Check https://smc.hash.so/index.php?page=statistics&action=blocks to make sure your block count is the same as everyone else's.

I repeat, if you're running a daemon and you're mining, you've got to get on the right fork.

@ Dev can you do a shoutout for some recent news on facebook, i already liked page, but now i cant find it anymore? Or is it removed?? Sad

I don't have control over that, ag_ does.

Can u get control pls! And can we have a twitter and facebook campaign! I think a thunderclap is a good idea!! Dev??

I'm currently trying to get the Windows wallets compiled for the fork.

If I don't get those compiled soon, I'm going to have to retract the new wallets and bump up the block when it happens.

Then I can start worrying about marketing.

If anyone can compile it, please let me know. An SMC bounty is available.

Alright, I think I've updated everything.

Everything should be happening at block 120000.

I'm going to update you guys when the guy who compiles the wallets has finished.

I'll release them in a bit.
