Re: GPU mining still profitable going to Q3/2017?

Here's what will happen give or take 10%:

July 27 Difficulty; 1470tn
July 27 Nethash; 85TH/s

Anyone really paying attention to the numbers (and not the FUD) can see that the gradient of both has peaked and it's actually slowing down.

Block times seem to be slowly going up though.  Plus there's the whole ice age crap that's supposedly going into effect soon.

Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates?

Ive been playing around with mine...nothing crazy to announce yet. Here are some tidbits for you guys

-Claymore's and a few other miners have incompatible kernels with the new GNC, so those don't even work yet
-Genoil's works, does about 35-40 with some basic overclocks
-Once i start tuning timings on this thing and over volt the memory should be able to hit 40+ on genoils generic kernel
-Im working with AMD for some driver optimizations for mining specific kernels (specifically on the linux side since currently its underperforming horrible on their new compute stack). AMD finally woke up and is addressing their mining customers (they could ignore us for so long when 90% of their profits are from us recently).
-Once these are done, and Claymore updates his miner for Vega NCU we should be seeing 50+

Verdict is still out on whether this can compete on price/hash and watts/hash on polaris, but if it can do 50+ it will still win out on density cost(i.e. achieve 160+% hash using the same hardware).

Have you tried any other algos with it?  I've been thinking about picking a couple of these up but not if they're limited to only being potentially good with dagger.  Also, what kind of power draw are you seeing so far after tweaking?  The reviews that I've seen were saying that their cards were drawing >300w during their gaming and compute tests which doesn't sound so great unless they turn out to be mining monsters.

Re: How to figure out total power draw of a GPU?

Software readings aren't accurate unless you have one of the digital power supplies that outputs the readings directly from the psu.  If you don't have one of those, you'll need to use external hardware to measure it.  Something like this is cheap and fairly accurate.  https://www.amazon.com/P3-International-P4460-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B000RGF29Q

Re: Will mining profitability keep going down, or will it stop - or increase?

Sorry mate but your arguments make no sense to me.

First I don't understand  how, even with the current "crash" on the altcoin markets, your profitability can be declining rapidly. All coins have doubled/tripled (and more) in value within the last few months. Even if you mine less coins, the profits are still huge compared to last year. So unless you pay 1$/kWh...or I'm missing something.

You're missing the fact that difficulty is skyrocketing because everyone, their mothers, their grandmothers, and their dogs and cats are jumping into the gold rush.  Take a look at any of the profitable coins' hashrate and difficulty charts for the last couple of months.  They go from a gentle upward slope into an abrupt near vertical climb.  So as more people/hashrate come into play, everyone's respective piece of the pie shrinks unless coin prices keep rising at an equal or greater rate.

Re: ASUS Mining-P106 Cards - Group Buy #1

P106 models are 6GB, and use the chipset from 1060, it is better for mining. The tdp is prety ok, about 100W

Exactly how is it better for mining, when a regular 1060 3GB card can do 24 MH/s+ on ETH and 280 H/s on Equihash at 60W?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uhSfOpvHks&feature=youtu.be&t=7295

Not just that, the 1060 6GB cards that these are supposed to mimic can be had for ~285 right now and these come with a full warranty plus video outs so the resale value is much better.

I've never been a fan of the suprnova pools.  Maybe I didn't mine on them long enough to account for luck (the longest I stayed on any of their pools was about 2 weeks) but my earnings were always significantly lower than what I should have been getting according to whattomine and compared to other pools.  They're usually one of the first to open pools for new coins though, which is why I keep ending up on them, but as soon as a fairer pool opens up, I switch asap.

Re: Possibly a good cheap Mining Case Idea - Frankenstein Case

Also, anyone using anti-static mats under the motherboard (for the metal and wood framed cases), not that you need one?

Don't put any electronics on anti-static bags.  They're designed to protect their contents by pushing the static electricity to the outside of the bag.  If you don't feel like drilling a few holes into a sheet of metal or wood and screwing in some standoffs to make a ghettofied motherboard tray, just set it on something like a piece of cardboard or even the box that the motherboard came in.

That's actually what I'm using for my rig.  I was going to build another full computer anyway so I figured I would get an actual case for everything and just sell off the extra cards when I'm done mining.  That case has a fairly sturdy plexiglass-like covering on it so I have two cards in the main motherboard x16 slots and the other three sitting on the top of the glass towards one edge sitting in the removable gpu bracket that came with the case, and a second PSU powering them sitting on the opposite edge.  I'll probably have to come up with a better long term solution though since there's a bit of sagging going on, but for now, it's working out pretty well.
