KNC Titan question

⭐ Merited by vapourminer (1)
I was one of the unlucky few to be scammed by KNC back in the day, buying into the Titan miners and never getting one until it was pointless to mine as I would never see my ROI, even though they were (I want to say) nice enough to send me a second batch of Titan miners that I never took out of the box. And they weren't so nice shipping the second free batch as it forced me to pay the duty on something I was getting for free, which was a lot of $$. (sigh)

When I finally did open the second box and attempted to power up the Titan cubes, the controller board was bad, no reset or FW update could fix it. And not all the miners worked.

Fast forwarding to now and I wonder if anyone attempted to build a new controller board that allows you to connect two batches of miners on it? I know a lot of people who use PCBWays to build their boards after they design them are doing a lot of retro projects.

As far as the minners not working it could be the caps they used aren't good quality ones. My first batch of Titan's are having similar issues now as the second has, were they don't start up. But I have some ideas for them as a project when my son is older. Smiley

Mining SHA-265
by

Are there any other decent pools that offer more than just BTC and BCH SHA-265 mining? I see there is a list of other crypto currency options for SHA-265 when I check google.

Thanks.

I am a bit confused on this site. I haven't mined in a very long time; the last time I was mining was when I was one of the unlucky few to be scammed by KNC Miner for their Titan miners.

Questions is, is stratum+tcp:// used for script SHA256 mining or is also used for other coins like LTC?

Other than BTC and BCH are there any other pools on this site that use SHA256?

I'm also confused about your question but if you are using viabtc pool it is required and stratum+tcp is included not only LTC but any coins supported by Viabtc.

Maybe what you want to ask is that using stratum+tcp you can maybe able to mine other coins like LTC? Isn't that your question?

Anyway, if your ASIC miner is only support Sha256 then you can only mine Bitcoin or other sha256 coins not LTC.

About the 2nd question you can't find other pools on Viabtc if you are looking for other pools that can mine other coins that support sha256 algo then check this tool below.

I tried using ViaBTC's LTC stratum+tcp URL etc in my Nano 3 and had it run for a day, when I went to my account and looked under LTC in the Pool section no worker showed up, the only place a worker showed up was under Smart Mining and BCH even though I had the correct URL info. This is what I used "stratum+tcp://ltc.viabtc.io:3333" and I put the one for each of the other ports they list under LTC plus my worker and password but it started using their smart mining (bch). So, I switched to smart mining pool. With not way to know for sure if maybe they have stopped using LTC or redirected it to their smart mining pool I am wondering if I need to find another pool so I can mine LTC or LCC?

Thanks,

it begins to work and after few minutes it freezes. doesnt matter which setting ( low, medium high)

Did you try using a different power supply, either switching its one for a working one if you have multiple Nano 3's or purchasing a backup off Amazon?  I would also check to see if maybe one of the heat sinks are lose inside maybe or maybe in your case you need to add one to a chip that is getting hot?

I have a question about the Avalon app.

I set my Nano 3 up on my WiFi network using the app but for whatever reason the Nano 3 didn't bind into the Avalon app, so when I open the app now is shows zero Avalon Nano 3's. Is there anyway to add after the fact without having to do a factor reset? I just don't want to stop mining and or cause any problems.

I am not sure why the app would update the WiFi info on my Nano 3 and then decide not to bind the Nano 3 to it.

I am using a Samsung S24 Ultra with the latest updates.

Thanks,

I bought a Avalon Nano 3 without the PSU, there wasn't an option on the indego site to purchase it with a PSU at the time. But I am having trouble sourcing a PSU for it, initially I bought a Lenovo LEGION what I thought was a 170W USB-C wall charger but realized 1. The sellers who said it was 170w lied and its a 135w, and two the pictures show it with a USB-C to USB-C cable but it came witha USB-C to Lenovo yellow connector power cable. Yes when I try it with my Samsung laptop USB-C to USB-C cable or my Samsung S24 Ultra cable (the cable I use) the Avalon tells me the PSU is not supported.

I have ordered a couple of cheap options off Amazon to try later today, including a connector that converts the Lenovo yellow connector to a USB-C just case in case the cables I have are the problem.

I would like to see those who have purchased a PSU outside of Conaan Avalon what worked for you.

Thanks,

i got the  new original OEMdell 165watts usb from ebay @ 37.5$.! However i dont have it in my hands nor the miner as both will come in july.

goto ebay

https://www.ebay.com/itm/256528960150  i bought from here

That's a good deal. I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad PSU from Amazon, a 240w and I bought a converter from their yellow plug to a USB-C, the problem is the converter only allows for 100w to go through it and the Nano would only do low, not medium or high.

I checked Red Panda's videos on YT and saw the power supply he was using, yeap they are still on Amazon but I found one better which I mining with using the 240w usb-c cable that he recommends.

My Nano is doing 4.13 RTHR/4.01 Ave-HR @ 44c (t) / 90c (h0) temps, using 125w of power using the amazon power supply that is similar looking to Red Panda's, it says its supposed to be a 140w PSU.

I am having this problem with my 2nd batch neptune's and suspect it might be the fans not being the same as the first batch. I would love to find someone as well who is still making the kits so i can put fins on all my VRM's but that doesn't look its going to happen unless I get really crafty which I am not good at doing. Sad

why would you think the fans would be the problem?   You can do you own cooling and disconnect all the fans that it came with

So what do you think the problem is?

Using a SHA ASIC miner with my pool. I take it I just have to put the sername:9332  and my bitcoin wallet id in for the user name right?

Do I need to anything to the "pypy run_p2pool.py" line to start the server in BTC?

Hate to install the GUI for ubuntu so I can see where I was at for the block on bitcoin-qt as for some reason I couldn't get an update from bitcoind that I might make a shortcut to run p2pool.

Thanks,

Strange. It worked for me a few months ago. Maybe you need to do "sudo apt-get update" first?

Bitcoin Core works for bitcoind. You can also use Bitcoin ABC or Bitcoin Unlimited if you want to mine Bitcoin Cash.

Another line needs to be added before twisted is installed.

sudo apt-get install pypy-setuptools

Can I mine bitcoin case using a SHA256 ASIC? I haven't been mining in quite a long time. lol

The 'sudo apt-get update' did the trick. You might want to update your how-to info to include that so that others who aren't familiar with *nix can get ahead without having to ask the same question I did. Smiley

And what do you recommend I use to install bitcoind?

I found this site, but do I need to install Python for Bitcoind?
