Hallo liebe Community!
Ich mine schon seit einiger Zeit mit 1xR9 280X+1xR9 290. Das bedeutet mein Mainboard+GPU+Netzteile funktionieren einwandfrei.
Jetzt habe ich mein Gehäuse endlich fertig gebaut, Powered-Riser und Grafikkarten rein (2x R9 280X + R9 290).
Alles lief Minuten lang sauber, bis ich das Rig neu gestartet habe, sobald cgminer startete und die GPU/Riser belastet wurden hat es angefangen zu stinken und rauchen. Ich habe natürlich sofort den Stecker gezogen.
Schaden: Riser am PCI-E Port durchgebrannt, kaputter Riser und Port
Meine erste Frage: Angenommen ich habe keinen Fehler gemacht (Dazu komme ich später noch) und es ein defekter Riser war. Glaubt ihr ich habe ein Recht auf Erstattung des Schadens(MB+Riser) von Verkäufer des Risers?
Beim gleichen Verkäufer habe ich schon 2 andere nicht Powered Riser gekauft, beide waren defekt, einer ist sofort durchgebrannt, hat aber keinen Schaden am MB angerichtet. Der andere hatte einen Kurzschluss sodass die Netzteilsicherung rein gesprungen ist.
Weil das MB ohne Probleme schon Tage lang ohne Riser lief kann ich mir nicht erklären was außer einem defekten Riser passiert sein könnte. (Wenn ich die powered Riser verwende darf, kann ich doch den zusätzlichen ATX 6 Pin anschluss am MB mit power versorgen, oder nicht? Kann das vielleicht ein Kurzschluss verursacht haben?)
Ich habe 2 Modulare 800-850 Watt Netzteile mit jeweils 65A 12V singlerail. Daran sollte es nicht liegen
Falls noch irgendwelche Fragen bestehen stellt sie bitte.

Lets do some math, maybe im just going nuts here.

around 110 watts per bitburner board, coming up to around 5300 watts
This means, we are talking 5500 watts and a hashrate of 420gh/s.

"calculating"

My calc is that you need around 3900 kw/h per month. Basically, this equipment burns on the level of a normal family per month.

How expensive is that? Well, in my country, I pay around  25 eurocents per kw/h. Coming up to 975€. That us quite expensive already.
Your mining profits right now, per month, are around 3200 USD, around 2400€. Don't want to be annoying, but the difficulty would have to double again, to get you trouble. Not that it cannot happen, and it WILL likely happen, but how far do you think this is gonna go? At least you won't loose profits in the next four weeks I guess. You could even take doubling the diff right now to be profitable...

There is something wrong with the math.

I am guessing that 5GH/s units are the 20 chips modules. If I convert 105 EURO's to CAD it's about $150 CAD. To get over 100GH/s I will need to spend $3000 CAD. Yet our friend YiFU sells the 4 module Avalon's for 12BTC which is $2400 CAD which I can easily get 100GH/s from.

For me "--avalon-auto" results in slower hashrates - after about 10h it went down to ~320MHz (starting at 380MHz). I'll try again with v3.4.3, maybe this will result in better rates...

Im a bit puzzled now. I host some miners for another user. 3 bbxx + 1 bbx in one stack. It runs at 26.5GH/s, thats 7.57GH/s for one bbxx. Not much. I previously had 5 miners and they ran at 43.75GH/s, which is 8.75GH/s per bbxx.

Now i got 10 more miners that run in another stack. Its 10 bbxx. And they only run at 64GH/s. Thats 6.4GH/s per bbxx only.

I dont know whats wrong. All run in one cgminer-instance, so two miners are recognized. All miner are blinking with all colors.

I ran my old 5 bbxx, that i dont have anymore, at the following settings:

--avalon-options 115200:10:10:28:450 --bitburner-voltage 1334 --avalon-temp 30 --queue 6

I ran the 3.5 bb at

--avalon-options 115200:8:10:28:450 --bitburner-voltage 1334 --avalon-temp 30 --queue 6

and the 13.5 now at

--avalon-options 115200:28:10:28:450 --bitburner-voltage 1334 --avalon-temp 30 --queue 6

I found that the second value in options should not be too low, but it doesnt matter if its too high. Since i dont know exactly how to setup for 2 stacking towers i simply used 28.

But i dont really get whats the problem. Why should my old miners run faster and the newer ones slower? queue 10 didnt change anything too. HW is under 1%.

7.5 miners are powered with a psu from burnin, the other 6 with an Seasonic Platinum SS-1000XP. The workload of the raspi is at 7%. Could it be differences in pools used? I used bitparking.com with my own miners and now bitminter.com is used. All boards are on firmware 1.0.2.

Do i really have to start testing and tweaking everything from the start because every setup needs its own settings? I mean it cant be normal that 10 miners only bring 73% of the hashrate of 5 miners got before.

cgminer didnt change in an unfortunate way right? 1334mV and 450MHz i used before can be used now too. In older cgminer-versions i had to manually edit cgminer sourcecode.

Someone knows?

Maybe the settings are too fast and too cold.
I´m running my Bitburners with this:

--avalon-options 115200:32:10:35:380 --avalon-auto  --queue 4 --bitburner-voltage 1285

With this settings the bitburners are running with 435 to 446 MHz, depending to the temperature. ( At the moment 445 MHz, 45°C)

Does that look right for my setup? I seem to be getting pretty good rates.

Surely you'd want to leave them running all the time instead of turning them on and off?
