Hi Folks - I just launched a revenue share program from my website, Bitcoin Megaphone.

You'll instantly get 30% of the revenue from people you refer. Very straightforward.

Check it out!

Bitcoin Megaphone Affiliate Program - Suggestions?
by
solomania9
on 08/07/2014, 18:13:31 UTC
Hi Folks - due to popular demand, I'm going to launch an affiliate program for Bitcoin Megaphone (http://bitcoinmegaphone.com).

Bitcoin Megaphone is the world's first pay-per-character publishing platform. It's like Twitter for Bitcoin. Also...
     • It's 100% anonymous for people who post
     • Each post is a Bitcoin address which can collect tips that go straight to its author
     • Hashtags and URLs are automatically linked free of charge
     • It's gaining lots of traction in the Bitcoin community: http://bitcoinmegaphone.com/press/

As an affiliate you'll get a percentage of all posts that are purchased by visitors who click your link. (I'll set a cookie that will expire after a period of time - perhaps a month.) I'm still figuring out what percentage of the revenue to give affiliates, but it will be appealing. And of course it will be free to become an affiliate.

If you promote your affiliate link to people who are active posters, you could easily make a dollar a day, if not much more.

Since many of the posts are small, I'm thinking about paying affiliates only with Coinbase to sidestep the transaction fees. Would this be a deal-breaker for anyone? (Otherwise I would split the transaction fees with the affiliate, but I'd like to avoid fees altogether if possible.)

Any other thoughts / suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

Anonymous Bitcoin Pay-Per-Character Publshing Experiment, 3 Month Update
by
solomania9
on 25/06/2014, 16:52:42 UTC
Hi All - I wanted to give a progress update on Bitcoin Megaphone (http://bitcoinmegaphone.com) and invite any more questions/suggestions/critiques.

New features since launch:
• The ability to use your own public keys as permalinks
• URLs that begin with http are automatically linked
• Line breaks are allowed
• Hashtags are automatically linked and categorized on the homepage

Since the site's launch 3 months ago there have been more than 280 posts, and it's generated more than 52 BTC in tips for the post authors (although I suspect a lot of people are tipping their own posts.)

For some quick background info, my dayjob is working at a large well-known media company. I created Bitcoin Megaphone in my spare time as a proving ground for how/if Bitcoin and microtransactions can play a part in online publishing. In short, if the website gathers momentum I might be in a position to show my company's executives that people are using Bitcoin to create and support original content online. It could help Bitcoin integration into many well-known websites across the web.

Looking forward to any feedback!

Are OP owner of this site?

Can you tell us some more details about how does it work?

Wow, sorry I'm epically late to reply. (Total noob error and forgot to check my messages).

Yes, I'm the website's creator. Happy to provide a bit of info.

Basically, the permalink for every post is a public bitcoin address where you can collect any tips/donations. The private key for this address is presented to you when you're previewing/buying your post. (You can also use one of your own bitcoin addresses for your post.)

You can sort the posts by most profitable, most expensive, most tipped, and most recent.

I also recently added hashtagging capability, and URLs are automatically linked.

The best way to see the site is to play around with it a bit - http://bitcoinmegaphone.com

Happy to answer any questions. I'd love some feedback from the community!

This is very exciting. IMO instead of "retweets" and "likes" as social currency, people will start using "actual" currency (ie, Bitcoin) instead.

Guilty as well!

In fact, when I built my bitcoin-based website I intentionally omitted the title from the page so people wouldn't walk past my desk and ask "What's Bitcoin Megaphone?"

Shameless plug - check out the site - it's fun to use... even at work: http://bitcoinmegaphone.com

I'm fascinated with Bitcoin's potential for microtransactions. So I built a website that could only be possible with Bitcoin - a public pay-per-character anonymous blog.

People are posting and tipping - and some interesting dynamics are developing.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

I think I found the perfect way to schedule a massive pump
by
solomania9
on 28/05/2014, 13:24:54 UTC
Ok hear me out. If a whale wants to announce a pump anonymously, he can make a long expensive post on http://bitcoinmegaphone.com announcing the date and time.

If the post is long enough (ie, expensive enough) people will know he's actually a whale and is serious. Then the post's permalink will get spread around the internet, helping to ensure the pump has a good chance of happening.

Thoughts?

Would anyone be interested in purchasing http://bitcoinmegaphone.com? It's the first pay-per-character website on the internet and has the potential to grow alongside Bitcoin adoption. I'm willing to share more info with serious bidders.

Re: Using Bitcoin to have your voice taken seriously?
by
solomania9
on 28/04/2014, 17:31:58 UTC
True, the website might not be the answer right now. But if the audience grows and it gets press attention it might change the dynamic. (It's the first Bitcoin pay-per-character site, so it's got a press-worthy "Million Dollar Homepage" quality to it.)

Right now the only incentive to post on Bitcoin Megaphone instead of Facebook, Twitter, etc is that each post is also a bitcoin address, meaning the author can collect tips to cover the cost of the post. For example: http://bitcoinmegaphone.com/13yrmhc2CMvZyqPhhd7jpRnYWzVCAqHjxR/

Anyway, thanks for the comments. You raise valid concerns I'll need to address if the site is going to get more popular. (Full disclosure; I'm the developer ;-)

Using Bitcoin to have your voice taken seriously?
by
solomania9
on 28/04/2014, 16:21:02 UTC
Let's say you publish a manifesto online (on a blog, Facebook, forum, etc...). Chances are it won't be taken seriously because anyone can easily publish anything these days. But if you publish it on a billboard or a full-page newspaper ad, people will definitely take notice. These days "cost" is a rough measure of "importance."

That's why I'm fascinated with the dynamics behind "Bitcoin Megaphone" (http://bitcoinmegaphone.com). Is there anywhere else online where people can anonymously post messages and prove their seriousness by proving how much it cost to post? I see this as a new style of mass communication; like "proof-of-work" but with "proof-of-cost". What do you think?

If you have 1000 or more twitter followers here's a chance to make a quick buck (actually around $5...). Post the exact text below as a tweet to your followers. The first person to paste your tweet's permalink and your tip address below will get the payment within 2-5 minutes.
