After much internal debate and member sentiment via the forum I have pleasure in announcing that Songcoin will hard-fork over to Kimoto Gravity Wheel Algorithm at Block 73000. This decision is made in light of many comments made here regarding the existing difficulty re-targ which is considered to be unreasonable and detrimental to the future of the coin. Also, the existing Algo. has exhibited recent unstable behavior recently and we are confident this change will improve the technical aspects of mining and confirmations etc.
We sure could use some help with hash power reaching the changeover point if it's possible for you.

I've pretty much got something on every buy order on the books, if they come off then I'll have a giveway. In relation to the low hash rate, maybe some perks to convince more people to mine?

I'm surprised more people aren't buying at this price! I think this is a shake out/accumulation period. Whales are increasing stake. Not enough volume for mass sell off imo.
Well are there that many coins even available among the people (that aren't involved in the project)? The top 10 addresses hold 83% of the coins. That makes 1.8 million coins left among all the other addressees. But then if you look closer, many of these addresses were created in October 2014 -- with very few transactions.
Unfortunately the SONG explorer is out-of-date due to the lack of hash which moves the block chain round-n-round.
We could use an announcement from the devs (if there's anything to announce) or some investors to buy up the coin back to 1000. I still don't think it's panic time, but I'm not infallible

So I've been talking to a musician friend recently about crypto and online exposure for bands. One of his bands recorded an ep before going on hiatus, but they never released it. I told him that if he and the other members of that project were interested in putting that ep out for the whole world to hear to consider putting up a digital copy online for crypto tips. he seems interested but is a little hesitant. Is there anything we songcoiners could do with this and help them out?

Yes thanks SP all this happened while I was in the land of nod. No worry, remember Songcoin came from a value base of zero at the beginning.
Adoption is the key to growing the long term value of Songcoin. It only takes one notable artist or company to publicly support the coin and it will rebound.
Almost a cliche now but it's very early days and there's lot's of work to do.

I know HD has his heart in the right place, but all this drama about miners is getting on my nerves considering for the past 3-4months I've dedicated all of my hashing power to songcoin through the east difficulty and the insanely high difficulty. Coming to btctalk and screaming about no miners when some of us who want this coin to grow have dedicated miners to the coin almost since its inception, is irritating. I believe HD to be a true songcoin enthusiast and second his sentiment about devs being more open about a timeline and such, but we ALL need to be patient! Songcoin is only about 5 months old, there's plenty of time to grow and trading volume has been pretty good (why is HD freaking out about volume when song is regularly a hot coin on ccex with 24hr volume hitting almost 4btc recently?)! I think this coin has a good future and I'm having a great time trading it, but only time will tell. Not meaning to pick on HD, no ill feelings, just observations and thoughts.

Plus - if you look at C-Cex -- the volume is practically nothing.
If you're trying to sell all that you need to realize that you won't sell it all in one chunk like that. Break it up and place some sells. All you're doing by putting it up as a 6+btc sell wall is cap market movements. I thought it was a bot because I saw the sell order auto increase price by 1sat whenever a new sell came in above it. Basically you're trying to squeeze every last satoshi out of your sell order, but no one is willing to buy into itIn all honesty -- that 6 BTC of SONGcoin belong to me.
