You can buy bitcoins from either exchanges, or directly from other people selling them. You can pay for them in a variety of ways, ranging from hard cash to credit/debit cards to wire transfers, or even with other cryptocurrencies, depending on who you are buying them from and where you live. It's still not easy to buy bitcoins with your credit card or PayPal. This is because such transactions can easily be reversed with a phone call to the card company. Since it's hard to prove any goods changed hands in a transfer of bitcoins, exchanges avoid this payment method and so do most private sellers. BTC Good luck in the bitcoin world.

Thanks, this is great. I will save this for my next transaction. Bittalk should have more posts like this, where it helps investors like us.

I invest mainly, and I also do a bit of cloud mining. Of course I hold, any smart person would know that.

Bitcoin to USD
by

Since USD is going up because of oil, and currencies like CAD and EURO are dropping. From now I'm thinking about exchanging BTC to USD, wait until it drops or until CAD catches up and then change it back. Wat y'all think?

Buy as much as you can, invest them when bitcoin goes up, and you'll be fine. I have a feeling because USD is so good right now, that might be a good thing for BTC. So I would consider changing them for USD before it drops. That's just my opinion.

This is normal. Bitcoin is actually pretty stable for once. Hope it will keep this way since USD is very valuable right now.

Thanks for asking! I got into bitcoin actually from a friend of mine who started in 2009. He told me about it, and I was really fascinated. So I got into it around 2012/2013, can't really remember. At that time, no one was really supporting me, and I just wanted to make some extra cash.

Last year was absolutely devastating for bitcoin. Sinked from above $1200 to below $250. I won't make any prediction but I do think this is a rebound year for bitcoin as countries in Asia, ex. China are making big moves. I certainly hope it will be.
