Re: paypal or bitcoin?

Paypal uses fiat as the currency and that means that there will be more people accepting Paypal than Bitcoin. The higher acceptance rate of paypal would mean the ease of use of it. Even though the adoption rate of Bitcoin is increasing, it is still relatively hard to find merchants accepting Bitcoin, especially in brick and motar stores.

Re: Bitcoin already using too much power by 2020?

Electrical price isn't an issue, global warming is. With most countries using coal and natural gas as the primary source of energy, the Bitcoin mining industry can make an impact on the environment. Governments can try to reduce the profitability by introducing taxes for electrical bills. POS is not a suitable replacement as far as I can see; there is simply too much ASICs built solely for mining Bitcoins and SHA256 alt coins, changing Bitcoin to POS is extremely hard or impossible.

Omg, thx for advice
I never through about it

What about microSD cards etc., same problem?
MicroSD cards are much worst due to the size and the cost of the storage. The size would be a problem since it would be hardly visible in most situations and you can easily break it. MicroSD cards can be much more expensive than flash drives while being less convenient to connect to your computer/devices.

Signature campaigns. You need to build your account to a full member for higher and reasonable payments though. You have to be fairly knowledgable about Bitcoin related stuff. All ad campaigns here are targeted towards Bitcoin/Crypto users.

Manipulation is possible yes but unlikely. Satoshi haven't moved any of the coins which could show that he may have forgotten the private keys. Bitcoin lost isn't an issue to the supply, it can be divided further than satoshis if there is even a need to.

Bitcoin markets aren't regulated and exchanges can potentially just manipulate the volumes like what the willy bot in mt gox used to do. The price is determined by how much the sellers are willing to sell at and how much the buyers are willing to buy at.

Re: Bitcoind not recognising bitcoin.conf
by

on 24/11/2015, 12:16:18 UTC
Hello, I am trying to set up a full node on ubuntu (should add I am a complete noob)

bitcoind -daemon prompts: Bitcoin server starting
~$ Error: Cannot obtain a lock on data directory /home/ubuntu/.bitcoin. Bitcoin Core is probably already running. Permission denied.

But there is nothing running. To be sure I killed it with sudo pkill -9 -f bitcoind
Go to your data directory, delete the file with .lock extension. It should solve your problem.

bitcoin-cli getinfo prompts: error: You must set rpcpassword= in the configuration file: /home/ubuntu/.bitcoin/bitcoin.conf
If the file does not exist, create it with owner-readable-only file permissions.

But I have set a bitcoin.conf and also sudo chown + sudo chmod on it.

Can somebody help me?
Thanks
Do you have these lines in your bitcoin.conf?
Code:
rpcuser=[username]
rpcpassword=[password]

Re: Most Secure bitcoin wallet ?

For online web wallets i would prefer multi sig wallets (i think blocktrail has this feature) and for offline i would suggest Trezor(very expensive)
I don't think blocktrail allows users to control any of the keys. For optimal security, the user must control at least n-of-m keys and the service must control less than n. This prevents the service from hacking any of your coins. Trezor is too expensive, Ledger HW1 is a cheaper option.

Best way is via signature campaign if you have lots of knowledge and free time. There is little difference between digital goods and physical goods. Digital goods takes less time than physical goods to deliver and is hence more convenient when selling it. If you're selling it here, consider using escrow for both.

Last payment time for me is 03-13 4:00(UTC), so my payment for this week should be here a hour ago, but it didn't, still no payment.

the payment is sent manually?

Marco is out and the address is out of funds but it has been refilled with a small amount. So you will get your funds soon. Smiley

No, still you payment.
Is that you? MZ you sent a small amount Bitcoin to refill that wallet? you're the manager of this campiang,why?
Macro is the manager of this campaign. I guess Macro asked MZ to help to refill or MZ is Macro.

faucet pays small amount of btc per claim, it is generally a waste of time. you can get much more btc in signature campaigns.
