There is a web wallet available that doesn't require you to download the whole chain.
Not for purists but I think it's pretty safe

XRB is just a couple of hours away from winning the Binance "coin of the month" competition and rherefore will be listed.
Not 'shady' or whales: just a fantastic working coin.   Read up on it and try sending a coin (lots of people on reddit will give you a cents worth).
Fantastic potential

Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments

The tech on this project seems great but I am a big NOOB to crypto and I've been trying for 3 days to get some of this.
Don't know about the other methods of buying but if you point me to one which is working I will have a shot!

If you are on slack, slack username ron was looking to sell around 1000GB otc for bittrex price. You can DM him to do an OTC trade for as much GBYTE as you want. Check #trading channel for the conversation. If you are not on slack already, DM cryptkeeper here for an invite.

Otherwise, Bittrex has the most volume, so your best bet is to wait for the wallet maintenance to be over and send your funds there. There was a new wallet released today, so bittrex might be updating theirs and is down for maintenance. There have been cases in the past where they were down for non-mandatory maintenance for around 24 hours (not just Byteball, but other wallets too). So it is anyone's guess as to when they would be back up again. Just keep an eye out.

Alternatively, you could also place an open bid on cryptochangex.com (an exchange run by a community member) and see if it gets filled (although the volume on it is relatively low, but you never know).

Good luck!
I've just made a small order on the "BTC/GBYTE wallet app" bot,  so will see how that goes.  No confirmations on my BTC yet.   I think it said that I have to leave my BTC there until my order gets filled - don't like that too much.
Bittrex still down but have asked for a slack invite
Project is full of awesome ideas but not very non geek user friendly!
I looked at the exchange and may send some funds there if Bittrex doesn't get sorted
Thanks for the advice
Thanks for the advice.  I'll be back and put in my 2 cents worth when I've bought some

There are a lot of options but many are charging 40% premium on the coinmarketcap price.   Bittrex doesn't work.  The daily volume on the other 2 exchanges is about the amount I want to buy therefore not really feasible.
Can you make a suggestion

I'm the OP of this thread, only been at cryptos for 2-3 months

I am no longer a FOMO virgin Roll Eyes  Bought at the top a couple of days ago!!!   First buy since starting this thread.   The pressure didn't let up and I gave in.

A lot of people must be following me closely because it must have been my signal that triggered the 20% pull back Cheesy

Thankfully I did manage to use some restraint so it wasn't such a big investment.   Live and learn.

Can someone tell me how long it would take for the next new block if hash rate suddenly dropped by 50%

If the difficulty drops by 50%, then blocks will be produced twice as fast, assuming that total hash doesn't change. However, because the cost of mining a bitcoin has halved, miners may switch from BCH, increasing the total hash power, and blocks will be even faster.

Thanks for that.  So now I know that the block rate is a linear correlation to the difficulty.

What about an immediate 10% drop in hash rate?

The theory is also that people are taking profits at the top and selling Alt coins to fund the next buying phase when the price

take a dip. The dip usually trigger some bots to protect their traders investment, so it takes some time for things to correct

after this happens. When the human behind the bots take over, they buy in again on the dip. Buy low and sell high in motion.

That makes sense.   Wish you had told me earlier.
I've been buying alts with fiat and then moving to more liquid exchanges ready to buy into BTC on the next dip.   Duh..... Need to rethink my strategy

Thanks, I've just tried this but coinomi is saying it "doesn't recognise the private keys format"

Did you do everything as per this description?
https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000016813-collecting-your-free-bitcoin-gold-btg-coins-with-coinomi

Thanks for helping out guys

I have now put everything in Electrum
There are now 6 transactions that are 'Not Verified'
Should I wait untill they are verified before I send them to coinomi?
Will I have incurred charges sending from mycelium to electrum
And I think there are 3 BTGs (had 3 BTC at the time of the fork) in there somewhere but presently there are only 0.0003785 bitcoin left on the mycellium.   Is this going to cause a problem?

OK  I've got them at last.  Only 2.6 coins but better than a slap in the face with a wet fish!
I eventually did it by opening a new coinomi walet and restoring the mycelium words.
Thanks all

Think I've located the private keys in Mycelium
Where do I put them in the coinomi wallet.    Into BTC or BTG?

I've went to mycelium accounts  - Export - pin code -show private - copy clipboard

Then I've tried pasteing in both BTC and BTG but coinomi says "doesn't recognise format"

If somebody would help me it would be a weight of my mind.   I would like to know how to get at my BTGs
At the fork I held BTC in Mycelium.   A few weeks later I moved the BTC to Coinomi.

Where are my freaking BTGs!!

Thanks -  hopefuly.

Your BTG are still in the addresses from the fork.  So, they are in the address(es) that was on your mycelium wallet.
You need to export those private keys and import (actually sweep) into your new coinomi wallet.

You may contact me directly to help you with it, but you should be able to do it yourself easily.

Thanks man

Looking into it now

After fork I moved it to Coinomi

What do I do to make them appear?

You say the competition between BTC and BCH is never finished but at the end of the day they cannot survive together, so if BCH haven't given up yet they have something stronger coming than last time.

It might be that the whole game is not about trying to win but about creating the most amount of FUD - to which I am also succumbing

Glad to hear that 2% is not significant

What I'm saying is that BTC supporters should try to make the difficulty increase now so that is taken into account when the difficulty adjustment takes place in 14 hours.

In approximately 14 hours we will have relatively high difficulty compared to BCH (can't seem to find out what their difficulty will be) and a wanton abuse of mining power along with an enormous amount of money pumping and supporting BCH.  All of this making BTC unusable and/or less attractive to mine.

I do wish I could have a serious discussion with a knowledgeable group - I'm not saying that group is not here but it's difficult to find.   This forum must be the busiest on the net right now!

I also wish I knew how I was included in this decentralised consensus

Also I would like to see a fair debate on BTC vs BCH

I have been expecting the difficulty to go down in the during the next 18 hours in order for the adjustment to make it go up for the next phase.

I would suggest that all pools move over to BCH immediately to try to sway the difficulty adjustment for BTC to adjust down.   There will be a big pump on BCH coming and despite what the profitability is saying now you will be doing your customers a great service.

There is a lot more mining hardware on the market right now, that has suddenly appeared on markets like alibaba.  Think that there could be far more mining power out there than is anticipated.
