What do you see for the future of social media and its affect on mankind?

This video got me thinking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzLtHqr1qjA

There are an insane amount of hurdles for humanity to jump over if we are to ever explore the visible universe. Elon Musk is doing his best, maybe not in the most ethical of ways, to get us there. We need a cultural and political shift in order to solve our immediate issues which seems to be happening at a steady pace. However, there seems to be significant issues with misinformation disseminating through social media channels further dividing us as people. How do you envision the evolution of social media in preventing misinformation, "fake news", etc. from continuing to divide and separate us into echo chambers?

I think it's a negative, because people start spending mindless hours, and hours on it. Which gives me the advantage in life. Even if it's small. If I was a high school students, than my GPA would be higher than average, because I would refuse to get distracted, while my classmates do. That's the logic.

The downside of approaching social media with abstinence is that you are giving up participating in a key part of culture and society. I think that if you learn to discipline and limit your interaction with social media you can have the best of both worlds; you can keep your distractions limited and succeed elsewhere in your life while continuing to learn from online culture.

Yes. There are parts in the universe that we don't know yet. So I certainly do.

Exactly my view. I find it infinitely more likely that there is life elsewhere in the universe than for us and earth to be the sole sentient life in the universe.

The issue with social media is that online communities always coalesce into echo chambers, especially with the advent of catered ads. It becomes difficult to maintain an open perspective when everyone agrees with you; your online communities tend to affirm what you already believe which in turn makes you believe that your beliefs are "right". Nowadays everyone believes they're right on social media, it's becoming increasingly rare to find educational, informative, and civil discussions online. CGP Grey has an excellent video on the echo chamber effect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE3j_RHkqJc

I believe it's infinitely more probable that we are not alone in the universe than alone. If the sky was dark and I never saw a star or galaxy (excluding our immediate solar system) then I'd be more inclined to believe the latter.

ERC-20 has quite a bit more support and standardization than waves.

Re: thinking about suicide

Hey Tanya,

I can't claim to know what you're going through, I'm sure you're dealing with a lot and the world must feel like its against you.

I just want to remind you that you are loved and that everything you're experiencing is only temporary. This too, shall pass.

Love is the common bond between all humans, its what has allowed humanity to grow from nothing into the prosperous society that we live in today.
Love is a powerful thing and you can't ever forget that it will always be poured into you.
From family, friends, random human beings on the internet. You are loved.

I've lost a good friend to suicide and I wish he had at the very least done what you have done today and reached out to somebody. Anybody.

There is so much turmoil in the back and forth conversations that goes on inside your mind and to get it all out there and just tell someone can be a liberating experience.
In doing so you'll realize that it is a part of the human experience to be hopeful for something better. Use that as your guiding light through this dark period in your life. It will get better.

Please message me if you ever want someone to talk to.

Please don't do something you'll regret, please don't do something that will make others feel regret.

The world is here for you  Smiley

If you have a long-term vision, then buy as much BTC as you can. There is no right time to buy it, Keep investing at regular intervals to have a great return. But if you are short-term investors then keep a keen eye on BTC movement, try to buy at dips. Don't invest all your money at a time, try to average the price so that you have best purchase rate.

This is the correct (most consistently profitable) strategy, applies to pretty much any crypto.

Re: Is ICO regulation good or bad?

I would love to see a global/industry standard/framework for ICO regulation. A simple guideline for participants to safely and legally contribute to an ICO is definitely needed. Bancor seems to be on the right path in regards to this. The reality of the matter is that companies need to conform to the legal rules set in place by the country of residence if they wish to succeed. Perhaps a foundation would be the best way forward as they would have the capacity to lobby on the industry's behalf in countries that ban or severely regulate ICOs.

Use your free time to read and learn about the market, try to spend about a hour or two every day keeping up with market sentiment. Once you begin to understand market moves, dive into some (light) trend analysis. Trend Analysis feels like horoscopes at times but it gives you a sense of traditional market psychology which you can correlate to news, rumors, etc. It's pretty entertaining if you can devote your time to it but it usually becomes an all-consuming venture.

Excellent article, thank you for taking the time to write this up! One cool example of conveying the hash-of-a-hash idea is the color-mixing theory found in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SMliFtoPn8 . It helped us understand the idea of the new hash being a mix of the previous effectively. You could include that same concept in your visualization!

A follow-up post on how forks work (soft-forks and hard-forks) would be pretty timely Wink

I agree!
