Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin'

fuckin shitcoin i will never buy a single one
This coin is a total failure:

  • developers never heard about testnet, and launched coin in real net
  • released untested binaries, that simply don't run, because developers haven't ever heard about static linking
  • they don't know how to make releases using github release system, and just push zipped binaries
  • they don't know how to prepare source code for compilation, and then push unprepared code to repository (figuring out how to compile that code took me about 15-30 minutes, and I'm one of those "skilled nerds")
  • think about all other people who wanted to participate in launch, and don't know how to compile code
  • official pool "max.rocketpool.co.uk" is stealing maxcoins http://www.reddit.com/r/maxcoinproject/comments/1xcfu2/maxrocketpoolcouk_are_currently_thieves/
  • the only pool that really worked (for me at least) was max.1gh.com until it was DDoSed to oblivion, and official twitter response: https://twitter.com/maxcoinproject/status/431571916764483585  - that it is a scam. You call that a good communitation between developers upon launch??
  • how hard would it be for maxcoin to reach out for people who wish to cooperate before launch. But no - it is better to find out live, who is interested in creating pools.
  • majority of miners are botnet owners right now, I don't want to see the crash when they decide to cash out. I will not be here anyway.

I'm out. If I ever see any article about maxcoin in any major outlet, my response will be exactly what they deserved.

You can quote this whole post on every new page in this thread, and give an address. I will send you 1 MAX to first person on every new page that quotes this. But what's the point, these MAX are worthless anyway. I have about 50 MAX to spend on that.

EDIT: I don't attribute to malice that which can be equally well explained by stupidity. But effect is the same: maxcoin is a failure due to incompetence, not due to malice.

yes, no clue about release engineering

Re: How do you take a variable voltage input and make it a fixed voltage output?

Hi,
The discrete electronic device you're looking for is called a choke.

You can buy a black box from solar electric companies that will do all this but they are expensive, if you want to go for a cheap DIY
solution you will probably find all you need in an automobile scrap yard(hint, hint), along with a car battery(s).

The charging system in a car has all the bits you need including the voltage regulator to prevent over voltage charging, its usually built into the alternator these days but used to be a separate box(in a 1980 Datsun) some older GM cars should be the same.
You might be able to extract one from and old alternator but beware that it may be integrated with the bridge rectifier(ac/dc converter).

Then a dc to dc converter will get you the correct voltage to power the raspberry pi(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC-to-DC_converter).

Its basic magnelectrics,  no electronic Engineer required Wink

In answer to your question about the 6v led,  is that it has very little internal resistence so the max current available will flow thru it
unless we have a resister in series with it, the same goes for other discrete electronic components that's why there are lots of resisters
on most printed circuit boards. Think of it like this, if you but a wire short across the terminals of a 9v battery the wire has next to no resistance and max current will flow from + to - and the battery will start to get warm and destroy its self(a car battery will boil and probably explode).  http://ledcalc.com/

Re: Power supply for KnCMiner Neptune ??

Knc promised 400Gh/s and delivered closer to 600Gh/s for their Jupiter machines.

So promising 3000Gh/s but probably will be closer to 4000Gh/s

4000gh/s at 0.7watts/Gh = 2800watts  puts you into the realm of professional rack mounted modular power supplies such as

KncMiner Neptune co-location/data centre hosting

Hi,

Can't post this where it needs to be so its posted here for now  Smiley

I have enough power in my house to run a Neptune but I just don't want to run something that is going to be putting out this much waste heat and noise, and potentially a fire hazard in my house.

So I'm planning on renting a full rack in a co-location/data centre. I live about 40 minutes drive from an area in Dublin(Ireland) where several data centres are located.

Anyone interested in sharing the cost and getting their neptune hosted ?

I'm not planning on offering a fully managed service like KNC offered for current generation miners, you will have to manage your own Neptune remotely via a vpn I will set up in the rack. The data centre staff will do reboots and I will do physical problems/upgrades but will charge for my time.

This will be on a cost basis only as I'm not interested in making a profit here just getting my own neptune hosted for a reasonable cost.
I'm guessing that I will only be able to get 3 or 4 Neptunes per rack due to the power requirements so will have to work this out with the data centre.
I may rent more racks if there is the demand but don't want this to get too big.

This next generation of miners like the neptune will be the last miners that can be run from our homes(for some this time is already here), if you're in this for the long run(like me) might as well get used to running bitcoin miners in data centres.

Cheers
