Bounty available to fork Bitcoin Ruby for X11 and StartCOIN

A bounty for the developer that ports the bitcoin-ruby gem to support X11 coins such as StartCOIN and Darkcoin.

In a StartJOIN first.. StartCOIN is being donated to aid with the success of an open source crypto currency project.

The purpose of this project is to enable Ruby developers to have access to a solid framework from which to write applications for StartCOIN, along with other X11 based coins such as darkcoin.

We will offer the first $500 reward to the developer(s) that successfully port over the bitcoin-ruby library to StartCOIN.

This is the first time that StartCOIN has been used to reward developers for their hard work and is the start of things to come.

Please see the StartJOIN project for more information and the current bounty value.

Just wondering has the airdrop already started?
Also, I was unfortunately not very active on startjoin over the past few weeks. I think the site is great, just couldn't find the time.
My understanding is that the airdrop will only target active users. Can you confirm this please? Thanks!

The airdrop is coming soon and will target all users. StartJOIN rewards active users with START each week too, so the more active you are, the more coins you're likely to get.

Awesome! I just logged into my account and I've received my coins  Smiley
Thanks a lot!
I think the idea behind StartJOIN is really cool. I have a suggestion but I don't know if it's something that could easily be implemented. I think a lot of people out there have some pretty amazing ideas that could potentially be game-changing however not all thinkers have the skills to see a project through. It would be really great if you could somehow link thinkers to doers.
Like if you have a section where people can post interesting ideas/concepts and if someone with the required skills is interested, the 2 parties could team up and apply for crowd funding to start the project. I think this could help get a lot more people involved  Smiley

Its great to hear you're getting on well with StartJOIN. Thanks for your feedback and idea, we'll consider it

You can use "hello@startjoin.com" for now. The max transaction size will be increased in future versions of StartCOIN.

We are still unfortunately experiencing some sticks when the hashrate on the coin fluctuates. This is due to a lack of consistent miners. StartCOIN 2.0 uses new technology to help improve this situation but we cannot garuantee there will be no issues whilst the hashrate regularly halves, quarters or more for large periods of time. The best thing you can do to support StartCOIN at the moment, if you have the capability to, is to mine it yourself.

All exchanges are running 2.0 as far as we can ascertain, so no need to worry there. The wallet on mcxNOW is running 2.0, so you should be able to withdraw your coins held there. If you're having issues withdrawing your coins, please contact RS about that as its beyond our control.

When you say a date, do you mean when does the transition period finish? It will be the 20th August 2014.

Where does StartJoin get the price of Startcoin from?

We draw the price from Bittrex, as the largest volume exchange with a START market.

Email confirmation is now required to withdraw coins from StartJOIN.

If I store my StartCoin on StartJoin instead of my wallet what steps have been taken to ensure they are safe?

Considering that they pre-mined 1/2 the total coins I would imagine they could just cover any losses...

The question equally applies to the pre-mine

The pre-mine has been stored in cold-storage and is sitting in a bank vault on paper wallets. The addresses are the same addresses as before.

Your coins are stored in cold wallets, with a small balance stored in hot wallets to allow withdraws to be processed speedily.

What is it with Startcoin 2, price keeps going down, as well as hashrate. Official pool now has irrelevant hashrate, so it's only some other pool or maybe solo miners.

I converted my v1 to v2 coins few days ago, but now it seems I shouldn't have done it, as price of v1 coins is much higher. Cheesy

I don't know how you plan to fund projects with Startcoin if it's value is going to be close to 0? Airdrop will just create further pressure on the price.

i hate to say but have to agree on that ...

you want to donate $10 for a startup idea

.... you buy BTC >  exchange to  START2.0 ( not "start"  because there are now worthless) >>>> make sure you send to a START2.0 address of they will be destroyed > transfer to the project

after the project wait for the funding time IE 30 days etc > that $10 is now worth $1

Can any one else see the problem with this .
this is why most project go to Kickstart or startup ....

Not only are you stuffing up all the long term investor and future in the crypto user - But your stuffing up the your own business modole and any future start up projects.

PS we should be able to donate USD or GOLD or Paypal  or any other funds directly

We accept Paypal, Bitcoin and StartCOIN on StartJOIN as funding options. Whilst  the price of START is currently falling, this will stabilise at some point and it will become a more viable choice. This is still very early in the life cycle of the currency.

As for the awkward nature of ensuring that you send to the right address this is to allow original StartCOIN holders to exchange their coin for StartCOIN 2.0. We decided to update our codebase with improved features and, to make writing peripheral software for the currency easier, we decided that a relaunch would be best. The old address will not be present from the end of the transition period.

Don't send coins from Bittrex to Startjoin. Mine didn't get there twice. Yes, it was 2.0 coins.

And also, yesterday I sent some 2.0 startcoins to my wallet on my computer, they came fine but today nothing after hours. The address is the same, also same address is not seen anymore on the explorer. I mean WTF.

This is alarming. Can you confirm that this is just happening to you on Bittrex? Are you definitely sending to the correct address? We'll try and rectify this with them

Bittrex address today same as yesterday, today coins didn't come (yesterday they did), and the address ain't seen on the explorer. I always triple check the address, I also made sure I'm sending to the 2.0 wallet ofcourse. Yes it was only 75 coins or so but I still don't like throwing coins into trash.

And from Bittrex to Startjoin it didn't show up in my balance, sent them twice. Yes it was minimal amount (1 coin each time. Why? This is exactly why, so that I test it. Well they didn't show). Maybe they have minimal deposit too. I know the minimal whitdraw is 25, so I had to send some more, because prior to the whitdrawal I had to have 25 total, right. As said they didn't show up after deposit. Yes, I also made sure I'm sending to 2.0 wallet there)

I've just sent myself some coins from Bittrex to StartJOIN to try and troubleshoot the problem for you. I'll post my findings.

MY coins did not arrive https://www.startjoin.com/users/startcoins  what to do? Came from bittrex is completed there
??

Do you have a transaction ID? Are you certain you withdrew to the correct wallet?

Address: sTuxtoGFtbkJYziD5ij1UyVcCAQEUAMoCN
TxId: 5418e59866c374d2df3d7fb1fbbb116f0587b461132dfd47d3dd166edca7ff4f

You've sent your 2.0 coins to an old address (http://explorer2.startcoin.org/tx/5418e59866c374d2df3d7fb1fbbb116f0587b461132dfd47d3dd166edca7ff4f). Please be extremely careful when sending your coins to StartJOIN during the transition phase; we've tried to include warnings where possible but we won't be able to recover lost 2.0 coins.

any one getting any payout for http://startcoin2.startcoinpool.com/ - pushing 50mhs at it and haven't got a thing for 4 hours .

what is to conformation time ?

Mining rewards mature after 120 blocks so you will need to wait 2 hours after initially mining before you receive a payout. I'm glad you finally received one.

Mining rewards for legacy StartCOIN have now ceased.

Please do not mine the 1.0 network unless you wish to contribute your hashpower for allowing the transition to happen. You can mine StartCOIN 2.0 at StartCOIN Pool 2.0.

What's the situation with difficulty calculation? Hashrate changes quite slowly, from 3,5 to 4,0 and then 4,5, but difficulty goes from 40 to 260, then next block 150, 80, etc.

Also, network gets stuck sometimes for half an hour on a single block. Sad

We are using DigiShield for difficulty calculations. The large changes are due to a fluctuating network hashrate causing some blocks to take much longer to be mined, dropping the difficulty dramatically. When the network hashrate stabilises this will also become more regular.
