Yes, just like betting on horse racing. You can win big if your team beat other teams. But if your team can't beat others, unfortunately you will lose your bet.
At first I thought it was just another Fomo3d or Zethr, but I just studied the rules and I found it more like a game than a Ponzi scheme.
