Re: Discussion: Crypto backed by gold, what else?
by

doesnt this go against some of the principles of cryptocurrencies? Wouldnt this affect decentralization? I think it's quite complicated to implement and preserve those key crypto aspects

Re: BCH vs Ethereum
by

so many differences between them, in terms of performances surely BCH may benefit from a potential super-increase of BTC, but on the other hand ETH has many upgrades and improvements in its pipeline that may lead to price increase.
If i were to choose, I'd go with ETH...

Well if crypto will become more and more adopted I guess that other boards/forums may take over bitcointalk, depending on forum rules and so on. For instance the merit system may have a negative impact since other forums don't have it

anything can happen really, we're experiencing massive loss of trust in crypto, price can really go down to 50$ although it could take several months

well it seems like we're totally crashing, so everything is possible, I would consider 200USD as likely...
I really hope the situation can come back up again

Re: how many people here have never touched bitcoin?

I have a small amount of BTC but I'm not that interested in it, it's not my main focus in terms of holding and trading. I hope of course in its mass adoption and so on..but I believe massive adoption may come in the future from a different currency than BTC...
just my two cents

Re: Can i earn 1 bitcoin in one year doing bounty campaigns with my rank ???
by
steplaza
on 05/08/2018, 17:39:17 UTC
Please guys...under no circumstances I would suggest a guy who has trouble with loans etc. to rely on bounty money. I strongly suggest you DO NOT take this road to pay your loans.

Reasons are the following:

- not all bounty eventually pay you
- many bounties take several months to pay you
- token bounty you earn may not eventually have an actual value or may never get to exchanges
- general volatility of crypto market

The motto with crypto investment is always invest an amount you can afford to lose. In this case you are not investing but I would apply a similar concept ..the bounty money you plan to earn must be expendable and OK to potentially lose it.

Make a more serious and reliable plan to pay your loans and then keep whatever bounty you get as a plus

Re: Will cryptocurrencies vanish from the market in about 10 years?
by
steplaza
on 05/08/2018, 08:13:47 UTC
the post actually states that cryptos will disappear if they don't provide a real solution to a real problem....so currently the majority of the currencies. this is a very likely scenario, where the market will be dominated by a very small number of currencies that have a real application

would be nice to have a global currency and surpass all the barriers between different states, but well that's kind of a dream right now but we have to look at the future

Re: Why do lot of people hate bounty dumpers?
by
steplaza

it is their right to do so, there's nothing to complain about...if the project is solid and has a real application, there will be no need to keep these tokens from being sold, adoption will take place anyway..
this is just another paradox of the ICO bubble we re experiencing

Probably summer holidays are influencing the market again, I wouldn't be so definitive as your predictions are. We have to look at long term and hope for crypto adoption

Sure back in the days things were too underground for most people, but still now we're in the very infancy...the majority of the people ignore the basic principles and the potential of cryptos..

such a low percentage is allocated to the bounty of a successfull ICO normally...
If all bounty hunters sold their coin at the same time surely it would have an effect, but probably not that catastrophic
and consider that many hold their bounty coin as well

I also think it's probably a good time, we have seen signs of market recovery and prices have already increased a little since a month ago...hopefully if there's no big negative news it should be a good move to buy now

Re: Crytocurrency Bounties, Airdrops, and Exchange Talk are Big Red Flags
by
steplaza
on 28/07/2018, 07:01:42 UTC
I do agree with the part on Bounties and airdrops, I am not that convinced on the exchange part. While it is formally true that exhcnages don't add value but allow for exchange of value, we have to admit that in the current crypto scene being added to several exchanges (where some are better than others) gives coin credibility, popularity and a general belief that the coin is worth something. So as a matter of fact it adds value, moreover if your coin has value but there are no ways to buy it (exchanges) this value will never be reflected in a price increase (price that is by the way calculated as the average between exhcanges that list the coin)
