Re: Antminer Z9 mini overclocked
by

on 11/09/2018, 04:23:25 UTC
Just got my batch 2 Mini yesterday.  Ran it at 650 Mhz all night and had no HW errors and minimal pool rejects (using nanopool).  Getting around 14.8Ksol/s.  What's odd is I changed the cgminer.conf to set the speed to something higher but anything higher than 650 just gives me a really low hash rate, around 4.5Ksol/s, even 655 Mhz.  No HW errors, just slow hashing.  Anyone else experience this?

I noticed the Z9 mini seems to hash slowly unless you select speeds in specific increments. (usually 6 mhz) the only reason I know this is because after I experienced the same thing as you on my manually adjusted batch 2 mini, I looked at the OC options on my batch 1 mini and it looks like they usually let you select in increments of 6 or 7 mhz. I don't really know why but I'm guessing it's a memory timing thing. Try adjusting with the following exact increments until you get stability. 700, 693, 687, 681, 675, 668, 662, 650, etc.

I just got mine as well, I ssh to it and edited the config file to freq 550 and now its above 12 ksols up to 15 sometimes Smiley

I just fixed this today on my rig.
The last 4 days all of a sudden it started dropping GPU' s from mining.
Tried everything and then this morning put a new PSU in,
It worked straight away and no more opencl errors.
The old psu was 4 years old so I guess it was getting tired.
So the fix is get a new PSU Smiley

Re: What issues can bad PCIe risers cause?
by

on 06/06/2018, 10:45:22 UTC
I bought 6 VER009s risers.
I plugged everything in as normal, tested the board with the GPU in the socket for a startoff, was fine.
Hooked up the risers and GPU's and started computer. CPU fan gave one spin then nothing.
Thought I had a bad motherboard so took it back and got a replacement.
Installed it and hooked everything up and the same thing happened.
So took the whole rig into the computer shop so they could try it..
3 mining extra motherboards, brand new CPU, Brand new PSU later.
The risers were the last thing it could be.
Bought some VER 006c risers that I normally used from normal supplier.
Bought another motherboard as the other one was away for replacement taking 3 weeks to come back..
Very carefully followed normal process, booted up the first time with the GPU in the motherboard slot, checked bois, everything looked good.
Plugged one GPU into a riser and into the board. Started computer and it bloody worked !!
And its still mining now with 6 GPU in it without a problem.

It was the VER 009s riser all the time blowing Motherboards. I've never seen that before.
Learnt my lesson, I'll only buy VER 006c risers now which is what I normally use.

Yeah it was bad risers. VER 009s they were.
I got some of the ones I normally use today - VER 006c.
Another new mobo put them in as powered risers and works straight away. Its Mining now..
It was definatly the risers and they were installed as all the others I've done.
CPU and PSU were fine.

Re: 3 motherboards fried trying to get a 7th GPU work

When setting up the GA-H110 Installed the CPU and fan, plugged the GPU into the board for a startoff, got into bios fine and set the Gpu to pcie slot 1, turned on mining mode rebooted and it went into windows fine. I thought everything is ok..
Then turned off and put the gigabyte 1060 Gpu that was in the board onto a VER 009S powered riser.
Everything is on a single EVGA 1000 psu.
Rebooted and the CPU fan spun once then stopped and no post or boot.
Took the GPU out of the riser and plugged it directly into the M/b again.
Tried to boot again but its dead, no CPU fan starting, nothing - dead..

Any ideas on if I can reset the m/b, Have taken the battery out and shorted the cmos pins but still nothing.
The only thing that was different was it went onto a riser then M/B dead after that.
Gone through 3 Motherboards no and have replaced everything new apart from the Risers.
Any ideas ?

Is there any other place we can use for our Electroneum wallets ?
the wallet at my.electroneum.com takes ages to update. sometimes 3 days after the funds are sent...
and the mobile wallet is the same ?
Most of the time it says updating then comes back with try again later.
I also have funds in cryptopia from trading that I cant get out ??
What is going on with all of this.. If this coin grows much more it will stop and come to a standstill.
We need more wallets at other places away from my.electroneum.com

It definatley wasn't a new install, I was just rebooting.
I'll try a reboot with 2.0.1.11 and see what happens.

I checked with the NHM team, bot prevention pops up if it's a new install or if there were any changes in the system or config files.
`

Ok, windows rebooted to update, it came up after that.

I keep disabling Windows Update and stopping the service but the bloody thing keeps turning itself on again Sad

I was just doing a restart on one of my rigs with nicehash 2.0.1.10 on it.

When it restarted it came up saying - we don't allow bots here type in the number below ?

I had the miner set to start when windows started by putting a link to it in the startup folder.
I had it setup like this so if the computer restarts or there is a power outage and it comes on again it would start mining by iself.
Is there any way around this if I am out or at work otherwise I have to be there to type in the number Sad

Did you enable "Autostart mining" under Configure -> Mining?

Yes I have on all of them. Thats why I was surprised as I have rebooted np before..
I also rebooted the rig remotely with teamviewer, would that affect it ?
 I've upgraded to 2.0.1.11 now.

Teamviewer shouldn't affect anything, bot prevention should only pop up at new install, but I might be mistaken (I'll check).. Do you still have the problem with NHM 2.0.1.11? Does it happen every time?

It definatley wasn't a new install, I was just rebooting.

I upgraded to 2.0.1.11 yesterday.

Since then I have noticed that excavator is mining ok, then all of a sudden I see red lines and it restarts.
Its mining equihash with 8 x nvidia GTX 1060 3gb
It hasn't been doing this with earlier versions, it would go for days.
Once I saw this tonight I went to the log files to see what the errors are, the lines below keep coming up and it looks like its just before it restarts.
The errors below are in the log files at where it looks like it restarts.

{"name":"NHM","hostname":"Miner04","pid":2864,"level":30,"msg":"[JSONTypedParse] Unable to parse response as JSON SyntaxError: Unexpected token P in JSON at position 40","time":"2018-02-27T04:41:27.920Z","v":0}

I have got excavator running externally with the daggerhashimoto algo with my 8 x GTX 1060 3gb cards np.
It did the dag file ok at the start of mining..

I was mining to:
{"id":1,"method":"algorithm.add","params":["daggerhashimoto","daggerhashimoto.usa.nicehash.com:3353",
What is the address and port for dual mining with decred or pascal to try those..

I just have to put my oc settings into the default_config file now as it started up with no oc settings and everything heated up pretty fast Smiley
It didn't take any notice of my MSI afterburner settings and went default. Below was my config file..

As mentioned before we dropped the daggerhashimoto for 3gb cards because there were a lot of issues/crashes with it among NHM users (especially on primary cards). We could remove the 3gb condition in excavator though, and you can run it without NHM then..

Ok,  then I could use it for external mining ?

What do you mean by external mining? You could mine to NH pool just not by using NHM. I'll keep you updated on this.

Yes, thats what I meant, external mining to nicehash without NMH Smiley

lol new version 2.0.1.3 removed daggerhashimoto for 3gb cards!!! LOL they dont know till April is profitable?

We decided to drop 3GB cards for daggerhashimoto because the DAG size was getting dangerously close to the 3GB limit and daggerhashimoto didn't even run on these cards especially when they are used as primary cards. This may not be a problem for experienced miners, but the majority of NHM users are casual ones. There are so many things to consider, you know...

I have been trying to figure out why I had no daggerhashimoto on my GTX 1060 3gb rig with NHM. now I know.
But this site below says the dag file is only 2.31gb yet, nowhere near the 3 gb limit ?
