as with any kind of crypto there is risk.

Masternodes had a huge run in Jan-Feb of 2018 and as a result the scams flowed in.

Ask around, choose a cheap masternode to get your feet wet with the technology and have fun.

Re: Riskiest but most profitable way to convert 800$ of BTC into more BTC?
by
stooky
on 28/02/2018, 22:01:32 UTC
Hello everyone, I have been in and out of the crypto world for over seven years now, but the only thing I have to show for it is mistakes.  Like selling all my eth at 15 dollars nearly two years ago and the miner that went with it.  Or paying nearly an eth for a bunch of worthless tokens on etherdelta exchange thinking they were something else.  Careless, day trading in high volume markets like the ZCLassic market on Bittrex yesterday.

I don't make a whole lot of money (Electronic Sales Asscociate at Walmart), but I am asking this:

If I wanted to take 800 dollars of BTC to an exchange, which one would be the most active and profitable and riskiest to covert over quickly?   Now just assume that its money I can afford to lose and willing to gamble a little.   I am photo verified with Bittrex, but I always lose money there.  I have accounts with binance, coinexchange, kucoin, coss.io , bibox, hitbtc, and a couple more.  I was thinking HitBTC because, even though their fees are high, they have a chatbox and alot of activity.  My plan would be to set a very low order on a high volume coin and wait.

Any other ideas on how to covert quickly but risky would be appreciated.

This is kind of a weird post, but if you want high risk / high reward, create an account at bitmex.

If you are American, you have to use a VPN.

You can bet on BTC going up or down with leverage over 50x. If you win, you make lots. If you lose, you lose all of it."

Good luck.

In the next year ETH will overtake BTC as the number 1 cryptocurrency.  I would unload your bitcoin while you still can.

What are you basing this on, or are you just hoping for a dip in BTC price to get some?

Re: NEM vs ETH
by

on 28/02/2018, 21:46:17 UTC
NEM is cheap crypto currency? You are the first person that said this. NEM made literally more than 100x. Dude what are you smoking?
We can discuss about is NEM better than ETH technologically but you can't say NEM is cheap. Look at its graphic and say it again.

I agree that NEM has gone up a lot, but nothing compared the increase in ETH's price.

I'm not an expert, but perhaps NEM has an edge in Asia?

I'm thankful for NEM profits, but it was more of a TA / FA move, not a belief it was an ETH killer.

Re: Looking to invest in Altcoin !! Check this !!!
by

Hey Guys , How are you all ? I was confused in choosing different Altcoin for start trading . I researched online few days and got some clues and That's why i decided to write a speedy introduction to pick which altcoins to put resources into, roused by the inquiries we get from our individuals. Lets Start>>>>>>>>

Initial Research:
The initial step is to investigate our convenient Coin Market Cap. Coin Market Cap ranks crypto currencies . All the market information gave by Coin Market Cap is essential. But there are 4 points you need to know about. Go to their website or thread. Collect these information.

-market cap
-price
-circulating supply
-volume

  • Market cap is simply the price multiplied by the circulating supply. Market top is essentially the cost duplicated by the flowing supply. In traditional securities exchanges, higher market cap securities are less risky, however unintentionally give less ROIs.
  • Lower advertise tops are more unsafe, yet take into consideration more noteworthy ROIs. It's additionally great to recollect the essential financial aspects on supply: the higher the supply, the lower the esteem (and the other way around).
  • The circling supply is characterized by Coin Market Cap as "the best guess of the quantity of coins that are coursing in the market and in the overall population's hands." This bars coins that can't be utilized or exchanged. At last, volume is the dollar measure of a crypto exchanged a timeframe (24 hours for this situation). Think about every one of these variables when searching for a coin that you need to put resources into that will develop in an incentive after some time.

A Real Scenario and Suggestion:

  • For instance, suppose you needed to put resources into XXX.
  • The primary thing you ought to do is go to XXX's site and read what they are putting forth. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP. You have to make sense of what's so incredible about the coin you're going to contribute.
  • Don't aimlessly put resources into something because of another person's suggestion.

Do your own particular research and pose vital inquiries like:

  • What problem is the alt coin providing a solution for?
  • What value is it adding and who does it affect the most?
  • Who is the team behind this coin and what are their credentials and motivations?

Some Social Research :
When you get a handle on the use of the coin and the group behind it, see what individuals are discussing in connection to the coin. To do this, tap on the "Social" tab in Coin Market Cap. You will see tweets and reddit posts talking about the coin. Scavenge through these and do your statistical surveying on how different brokers feel about the coin you need to put resources into.

Then, of course, the last step is to read the charts. We have a separate thread for how to read charts and chart patterns, and the subject is covered in much more detail in our e-book, Getting Started with Crypto Trading. Following these steps should allow you to make informed investment/trading decisions, rather than just blind hope or luck.

Guys please post your ways of finding good Altcoin to invest. Thank you. Hope you liked.

For brand new coins, this is tougher, but I strongly suggest reviewing the TA and any past market cycles. Crypto, just like any market, goes through cycles. Don't get caught at the top.

Re: What we need to check before investing in ico?
by

on 28/02/2018, 21:37:46 UTC
Hello everybody,

I know mostly people here know what they need to do before investing in any ico but there are still many people ask the same question in different thread specially newbie. They get the answer but in several post which maybe make them a little confusing.

I am not an expert but i could put what i know here. All i know is from reading here in the forum.

Well just start, everything you need to research and make sure before investing in ico project wheater the ico has :

* working product
* Unique or good idea/solution for existing problem or future problem.
* Strong team behind the project
* Strong planning and marketing ability
* Partnerships with reputed company
* good whitepaper and roadmap too
* experience advisor

Edited :
* make sure the idea is different with the exist ico or the old project
* check the supply of the token because it cause the price run

From all mention above, i have 1 thing that is most important in my opinion. That is  ico should have working product because working product can lead the ico would be success ( not 100% success but mostly success ).
Maybe this thread will help you to find working product ico : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2451482.0

After you do research about above things, you can check the rating and other detail in below website :

* Icobench.com
* Icorating.com
* Icobazaar.com
* Icoscanner.io

Other source to check popularity of the project is youtube and also this forum.

I know its not complete but i hope it can help member who need it.

Note : your suggestion is appreciate to add the detail above.

Thank you

Edit :

* this is the other suggestion, i know some of them is already mention above but i think this is good to add it here. Thanks

These 5 Things You Must Know Before Investing in an ICO
1 - Is it a Copy Cat, an Incremental Improvement, or Disruptive Tech?
2 - How detailed is the plan? What is the road map?
3 - How developed is the technology?
4 - Who comprises the Team and Advisory board?
5 - Do they really need to raise Why?

What should I do to participate in the ICO?

Very responsible approach to the selection of the project.
To study all possible information on the project.
To communicate with other potential investors at the forums, where information on the project is published.
If knowledge is allowed, then study the project code and its business model.
Assess the risks of investing.

I look at:

1. market cap
2. team
3. idea
4. timing for coin/token ownership
5. exchange listing schedule

It has worked well for ZRX, REQ, TRX, ZIL

THIS IS SO INTERESTING TO ME!!! so whats the word??
what are people doing?
HODL?? PANIC SELLING?? COMMENT BELOW I'm curious as to what everyone is doing during the current CRYPTO LANDSLIDE??? LET ME KNOW!!

If you aren't a day trader, a well balance crypto portfolio can weather these ups and downs. I'm holding BTC, ETH, NEO, XMR and some smaller caps like ZIL, IOST, ICX, SUB, OCN that might have some upside. The key is to think long term. If you are worried because you need the money tomorrow, you shouldn't have it in crypto.

Right now I have only approx 0.25bitcoins to invest/trade or do anything with them..I want to split them in good altcoins as well...please advice me what can I do with those which altcoins I can buy and how much I should leave only in bitcoins...
Right now I have 100 WCT and 55 Waves coins and 0.25btc more...please tell me which other coins I should add in my portfolio for those bitcoins

Nothing wrong with holding bitcoin.

ALTs are going to drop some more, but you could buy a bit of the following at the bottom. ICX, VEN, ZIL, OMG, NEO, XMR

Of course do you own research and homework.

Re: Alternative Block Chains : be safe!
by
stooky
on 28/02/2018, 21:27:13 UTC
I haven't seen anybody post about what would be my biggest worry if I were trying out alternative block chains. I realize this may be perceived as "Gavin is FUD'ding anything that isn't bitcoin!"  (FUD == Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt)  But I think some of you might be forgetting some basic computer security fundamentals in the excitement to be early adopters.

When I first heard about bitcoin, my questions were:

1) Can it possibly work (do the ideas for how it works make sense)?
2) Is it a scam?
3) If it is not a scam, could it open my computer up to viruses/trojans if I run it?

I answered those questions by:

1) Reading and understanding Satoshi's whitepaper.  Then thinking about it for a day or two and reading it again.
2) Finding out everything I could about the project.  I read every forum thread here (there were probably under a hundred threads back then) and read Satoshi's initial postings on the crypto mailing list.
3) Downloaded and skimmed the source code to see if it looked vulnerable to buffer overflow or other remotely exploitable attacks.

If I were going to experiment with an alternative block-chain, I'd go through the same process again. But I'm an old conservative fuddy-duddy.

If you want to take a risk on a brand-new alternative block-chain, I'd strongly suggest that you:

1) Run the software in a virtual machine or on a machine that doesn't contain anything valuable.
2) Don't invest more money or time than you can afford to lose.
3) Use a different passphrase at every exchange site.

Another option is to use an old laptop for this kind of testing. Do not keep anything valuable on it. You can pick them up for pretty cheap, and for those of you who aren't good with virtual machines, etc. it might be a simple solution. You can always use it as a back browsing computer, etc.

ETH (like all other alts) is still at the mercy of BTC.

It will be interesting to see if ETH or another architecture can overthrow BTC as the king pin of all crypto currency.

This coin is shaping up to be a good old pump and dump trash. Especially if you look at the price movement in the last month. I've bought some of it back in October, but now I'm considering to sell all of it. My purchase of VSX could have been a big mistake. The roadmap is just non-existent, it could be written in 5 minutes, and certainly not what we've been waiting for more than a month. The youtube video is some shitty-edited 5-minutes-to-be-compiled trash with no real goals for the coin. I don't know, it just really saddens me that i believed in this coin. The dev doesn't answer any hard questions here, and when confronted with evidence, either bans a person or remains silent. I hope I'm wrong, though...
You have your choice and your own decision, let's go and do what you love, what you think right, what can make you rich. 5-minutes-trash? Don't worry about Vsync anymore. Let's go.

xandy, is this project a bitcore project?
