Of course when investing you would love a great ROI but I was interested to see if that's the main criteria people are looking for. I love the mix reaction and people are as invested in the tech as they are the profits.

Great answers everyone! Along with losing money, is there ever a feeling of disappointment when a project doesn't turn out successful? Of course everyone hates losing money, but are there times when you're disappointed that the tech won't be available to the public at full scale?

Re: BEST ICO 2017/2018

Hey guys, tday I would like to tell you which ICO I consider as the best one among the others. It is Pally app! Decentralised social travel!

Take a look at here https://pally.co

Ico is going now, 25% discount. Low hard ca, experienced team, competitor to AirBnB. I am fully confident that this is the ICO we have been waitin for!!
For me it's Protex. Pre-sale is live right now and ICO is in mid Nov. New project targeting the market of data security. Going to put an end to data breaches and give the control of data back to the users.

In it just for the money?

When investing in ICOs, are there times when you invest for a high ROI but don't really care for the cause behind the project? Or do you only invest when you believe the project has a strong use case and feel personally attached?

I am new to BitcoinTalk but I am not new to investing. With all my investments, my criteria is whether I believe in the idea and whether it is something the world needs. In other words, if I don't feel personally invested in the idea, then I won't be investing my money.

For example, there is a new project called Protex and I invested in their pre-sale because I believe they are going to solve a major issue the entire world has. They are a data security company that will give the power of data back to the users instead of large corporations. All while essentially eliminate data breaches. With a platform that will positively affect everyday of my life, it is easy to be invested in them.

But I want to know your thoughts! In it just for the money?

You should absolutely check out Protex. Very solid whitepaper, team, and they are targeting the huge market of data security. All with a low market cap. The recently announced so their community is still growing but definitely worth looking into. They got an article written about them by CryptoTimes also. Their product will revolutionize the world of data security and eliminate data breaches.

What ICO's are you most interested in that are upcoming?

I have had a strong eye on Enjin and Paypie.

What have you guys been looking at?

If you are unsure of a coin, you should evaluate it yourself, I created a video explain the different steps and questions to ask yourself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLwHkIKhddw
Take a look into Protex. Very solid whitepaper, team, and they are targeting the huge market of data security. All with a low market cap. ICO is in mid Nov but per-sale is right now. They recently announced so the community is smaller but its growing everyday. A ton of potential so I'm looking forward to a nice ROI on this one.

Just came across this new coin, 88Coin  heard about it a lot in Asia while I was there.  Check out the website

www.88coin.io

Considering investing in it, looks like it will sell fast.

They are also on Waves, which is huge

Most definitely Protex. Pre-sale is live and ICO is in mid Nov.  Worth checking out. The project solves the massive issue of data security in an innovative way. Very solid whitepaper, team, and huge market. I invested in it and they have a low market cap. It's a legit project, super excited for it. Strong community is starting to build.

Re: Hot ICOs of late-October/November

Although there are a lot of them out there, ICOs are still very profitable as a whole if you sort through all the noise and invest in meaningful projects with reasonable market caps. From previous threads on this sub, Substratum, Regalcoin and several others are up 2x-5x from their ICO price, as well as many others up by smaller amounts (REQ, etc). As such, I'm going to list some of the top choices I've seen on this sub here and similar subs, and I'll update this list as other projects are suggested.

Upfiring - https://www.upfiring.com - ICO is live. Incentivized P2P file-sharing is a really interesting concept that could have a lot of practical use. Project is definitely undervalued at the current ICO price - similar projects like Filecoin and Sia have 15x-20x higher market caps, so the potential for returns is pretty high due to the project's low market cap.

Grid+ - https://gridplus.io - ICO starts next week. The whitepaper itself is enough to show how seriously awesome this project is. It's going to be extremely interesting to watch how this one plays out, as a decentralized energy market is something we haven't seen yet and there's a lot of intelligent people involved in this project.

Ripio - ICO goes live today. Existing credit networking company that facilitates lending between two peers using smart contracts. It's a really cool use of Ethereum's smart contracts, and it's nice to see large companies get involved in the crypto space.

EnjinCoin - https://www.enjincoin.io - ICO is finishing up, just over 90% complete. Cryptocurrency for gamers is going to be huge, and the $25 million dollar market cap is low, so potential is high. Also a very established company that has a good community behind it. This one has a lot of supporters and positivity around it, and you know for sure that the token will be used and integrated into an already-popular gaming platform.

Raiden - ICO is ongoing. "The Raiden Network is an off-chain scaling solution, enabling near-instant, low-fee and scalable payments. It’s complementary to the Ethereum blockchain and works with any ERC20 compatible token. The Raiden project is work in progress. Its goal is to research state channel technology, define protocols and develop reference implementations." Very interesting project with a booming github repo and great marketing so far. Definitely worth looking into.

Dimensions Network - https://dimensions.network - ICO live in early/mid-November, new crypto exchange where token holders collect 15% of the trading fee profits. Really like the concept. Looks like COSS with a better UI/more potential.

Gladius - Cyber protection network, ICO November 1st

Let's sift through the huge amount of projects and find what's worth it. I know there are a few more out there that I'm forgetting, so keep the suggestions flowing and I'll update the list.
Most definitely Protex should be on the list.

I have been doing a lot of research on new ICO's this month and came across Protex in an article written by The Crypto Times. With all the data security issues going on right now I see huge potential with it. I dug a bit deeper and was very impressed by there whitepaper. Check em out!

Crypto Times article: https://cryptotim.es/protex/
Protex Website:http://www.protexproject.io/
I read that article too. Very interesting project and they are getting some recognition. Given some time, this project could make a difference worldwide. I invested since the pre-sale is live right now and the ICO doesn't start until mid Nov so I hope that goes well too

Great post - well written... One thing to add is that even legitimate ICOs have a chance of not making it do to a multitude of factors just how it is for startups that choose traditional funding. Investing is evaluating risk and reward and there are underlying risks even with legitimate ICOs.

Protex is project worth taking a look at. Seems like they just recently [ANN] so I'm sure given time they will get more of a following.  Pre-sale is live for a few weeks, then ICO a couple weeks later
